I'm absolutely surprised at how popular these things are considering the price. I held a few in my hands (no villager ofc, otherwise would have bought regardless of cost), but at 15 europànians a pop, no way. They're not even that great quality - well, Fox was pretty neat, but Samus is an ugly bit of plastic.

Come Get Your Sacred Objects! It's the Outcast HD Remake Kickstarter!
Roderick replied to toblix's topic in Video Gaming
That's a pity. They do clearly imply that it's a work in progress (further updates to come, 1.1 etc), but that doesn't excuse tons of bugs, if I read it correctly. If they update and fix this, for 5 euro coins, this is a steal. -
It features Ron Perlman in what Red Letter Media greatly described as a 'comedy beard'.

Designer Notes 2: Rob Pardo - Part 2
Roderick replied to Soren Johnson's topic in Designer Notes Episodes
This podcast got me through work today - bearing a cold and a big deadline. Like I said last time, it's so interesting to hear about the everyday challenges within Blizzard. It's so easy to think they're this massive, big, impenetrable giant, so to hear that they need to allocate their resources very carefully humanizes the company to a great extent. On a sidenote, I love that Pardo agreed to sit with you for four hours in recording this in-depth thing. -
Heroes of Might and Magic 3... And a little about a mod.
Roderick replied to solmyr's topic in Strategy Game Discussion
That's an interesting story, I didn't know that was playing at the time. I only ever once played a bit of Might & Magic, and it was so tragically ugly that I couldn't be bothered. I was spoiled by Lands of Lore and later, of course, Elder Scrolls. The thing I love most is roaming the map, picking up stuff and building my towns. In an ideal world, that would lead to victory. -
Agreed, Hustle is one of the few series which is permanently in my new-fangled DVD collection. Killed opening and it oozes style.

Thanks, will check

Now that the combination has been proffered in this thread, can we please have Jackie Chan as a Jedi? Can I have a Star Wars movie directed by Jackie Chan? Think of the hilarious prop action you could do with the Force.

This isn't just a Star Wars thing, though. I'd like sword fights in general to be more like the madly dangerous things they really are. Not rarely a single blow decides the whole thing. If you look at how western gunfight duels are done, or how in the Yojimbo movie series it usually comes down to staring the opponent in the eye to measure them up and then each performing a single strike... that's usually a lot more tense and exciting that a hundred thousand blows.

Somebody call the Gaming Police, looks like we have another walking simulator on our hands. I... I can't say anything else than I love it. It's a space station, we have a vantage point to Earth, there's a WC, the Virgin-Tesla company...

The thing I look forward to is a lightsaber battle that's toned down and feels dangerous, rather than an overly choreographed piece of ballet.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3... And a little about a mod.
Roderick replied to solmyr's topic in Strategy Game Discussion
There is definitely a throng of cheeseball jokes in that video, Solmyr, but like HOMM3 itself, it's kinda charming. That game... it's so much fun in the first few hours when you're frantically gathering up cauldrons and saffron, but then it becomes this endless management sim of supply lines, sending heroes to and fro to stave off escalating army growth, until you have thousands of arch liches fighting a millions goddamn dragons. -
That's an impressive list, ElMuerte. I've got almost all of what I want out of there already. Can I instead give a shoutout to Deponia and The Dark Eye? Those are excellent adventures and any local Thumb adventure fan who hasn't played them should scoop 'em up there.

Assassins Creed: Syndicate - knees up mother brown
Roderick replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
There will definitely come a time when I get around to playing AC3. Maybe somewhere after the next two instalments. Remember those halcyon days when it took three years for Ubi to produce the next Assassin's Creed? When we didn't even know if there'd be a series, or if AC1 was a weird, wonderful, flawed, interesting artifact of time?- 76 replies

Finally... the year of the PS3! -
Please stop saying orange and teal every time a face appears over a sky. That is, regrettably, the color of goddamn life, and you'll have to cope with that. I'm surprised people think the lightsaber crossguard is bad. It's cool. It's impractical (if you'd catch another lightsaber with it, wouldn't it slide to the middle and cut your weapon to shreds?), but pretty bad ass and fitting in this, arguably the premier ridiculous sci-fi fantasy setting of our time.

What's missing in the shot of the giant aquatic dinosaur leaping upwards, is Leon S. Kennedy getting knocked over in a little boat. -
This episode, Beppo's Hole, quickly launched itself into the stratosphere. Within the first ten minutes, we had a GDC dream by Nick Breckon, Italian food and cinema subscription hell and devious schemes concerning lifetime airline passes.
