  1. GTA spoof sites popping up once again

Haha, that's rich. eXsorbeo is nasty.
  2. Ron Gilbert on Shaun of the Dead

Which is a shame because it beats up the competition like they were stickfigures and Shaun a huge big bully on school. Albeit a sympathetic one.
  3. Ron Gilbert on Shaun of the Dead

I just saw Shaun of the Dead. It was even better than I expected, certainly loads of fun when you know the original. What surprised me was how good a movie it was. It really stood on its own feet, and didn't just blatantly spoof everything. Especially the first hour is very strong. Something that also surprised me was how funny it really was. For some reason I haven't got a high opinion of English comedies. The image in my head is that they're really just social drama's with a few mildly amusing scenes tucked in here and there (The Full Monty comes to mind). But this was top notch comedy. It's one of the best movies to come out recently (though I haven't seen Eternal Sunshine yet, which is also supposed to be excellent).
  4. Edge restyling?

I'm curious how they'll change Edge. I've been reading the mag for a year now on school, and it really redefined my view of gaming journalism. I've heard some very good things about GamesTM, especially how they have a big focus on retro gaming. I hope to look into it soon, but I'm skeptic whether they can be better than Edge.
  5. RPG rant: Robin Hood would have been a goner

Treesus; in Morrowind the bow is almighty. Really, it's one of the most powerful weapons there, capable of one-shot-kills from huge distances. Since it's first person, you have to aim. but the game is rather erratic here: even if you clearly shoot straight into the target, the game still rolls whether you hit or miss it. Still, not only does the bow offer a huge advantage over nigh every enemy in the game, it also gives you a tremendous rush of power, being able to snipe everything and everyone before they have a chance to react. (needless to say it's my favourite weapon in the game)
  6. attention!

Just to get it straight: my initial post was not about the image of the site. In my opinion it's balanced and doesn't use too much foul language at all. My discussion was targeted against the people who did seem to think Idle Thumbs is all about swearing and saw it as a motivation to do the same on the forums. But then all wrong and without it being sparingly used as a form of sarcasm.
  7. Soon...

But you would shell out for an MMO, is that what you're saying? Isn't that just a load of nonsense? What matters is how much fun you have with it, not how deep the gameplay is or something. Genre shouldn't matter here.
  8. El ranto - PC-DVDs

Yeah I meant the super-turbo-deluxe version. But I understand there are some forty-three thousand different editions of Half-Life 2 coming out. But I do always have a fondness for having pretty gameboxes on the shelve. And the HL2:CE-box is neat. But still, cloth maps rule, as do hardcover artbooks and Blizzard on the whole. Still unbeatable
  9. Revenge

    Hurray for the French!
  10. Murder Mystery Half-Life 1 Mod?

sort of off-topic: I'm really not into the whole Half-Life deal, but what's the problem with Steam?
  11. El ranto - PC-DVDs

That said, the Half-life 2 Collector's Edition is set to be extremely tempting, so it's DVD for me. Besides, since I don't own Half-life yet, it's a good offer. Still, they haven't quite gotten to the point of besting the World of Warcraft Collector's Edition in terms of overall scrumptiousness and delirious amount of goodies! Blizzard still reigns supreme in the Collector's department, and they keep increasing the yumminess with every release. This one even brings you exclusive in-game content, and heralds the return of cloth maps! Hurrah!
  12. Revenge

I've seen it mentioned in Star Trek lore a few times. But to my recollection, it's an actual english proverb. But then again, Klingons were here long before I was, so I could be mistaken.
  13. Soon...

I never played Counterstrike. Is it any good?
  14. A Spaceballs sequel is in the making!

It's amusing at best. As with all Mel Brooks movies; they're enjoyable to watch, but in the end not that good moviewise OR comedywise. So I'm expecting more of the same. More bad hairdo's, more Jewish wisecracks and more jokes that you see coming five minutes beforehand
  15. I have to say that in the best tradition of these sort of conundrums; I'm totally scared by all those pictures. The guys with no eyes? The freaky marionette? So cool, but in the end it's a shame this won't be the tone the actual application will strike. Pity, because I'd like the program itself to be as brooding as the 'hint'-images.
  16. Coolest prop

Contrary to VImes, I think Red Dwarf is extremely funny indeed. It has a nice British sense of humour and some memorable characters. My favourites are Rimmer and Holly, the ship's computer.
  17. Emerging Artists, Local Bands, and YOU

    I'm pretty emerging.
  18. Coolest prop

It's a fricking spaceshap, and no, it does not count. It's decor, not a prop. And there's also a thin line between a prop and a costume. Otherwise I'd have chosen Tim Curry's sparkly high heeled shoes from The Rocky Horror Picture Show as my favoured prop.
  19. What's the worst you've done in a videogame?

(I actually really enjoyed The Phantom Menace game. Horrible, aren't I?)
  20. Gamecube or Xbox

Super Mario Sunshine was a game that made me promise myself I would not forget how frustrating it was. Those erratic geometric abstract levels were at times difficult and unforgiving enough to make me quit the game for a few months. This has nothing to do with challenging game design, but everything with frustrating the heck out of the player. At one particular level I plunged to my death some thirty times in a row, and I got completely fed up. Only through my persistance to want to finish all the games I have, did I reach for it later and completed all those dreadful stages (admittedly, I got better at them with practice), but I can easily see all but the most seasoned platformer having a really dreary time with Sunshine. When I finished the game, I was really relieved and started to actually appreciate the game and all of its merits. But I made a promise to myself not to forget how I also had a really rotten time with it. Therefore Mario Sunshine is an ambiguous experience for me.
  21. Public service announcement!!

Que la Force soit avec toi
  22. Public service announcement!!

I'm sorry I've offended all the people who are satisfied with the dub, but I do believe Michel Ancél says it's 'section Alpha'
  23. Public service announcement!!

DEATH TO SECTION ALPHA! POWER TO THE PEOPLE OF HILLYS!
  24. Coolest prop

I really enjoyed (not in that way ) the Swedishmade Penis-enlarger from Austin Powers.
  25. Gamecube or Xbox

A dubious decision, at most. However, I have utmost confidence in them straightening this out on their next console.
