  1. Hitchhikers Guide - new trailer

I liked Zaphod in the trailers. He seemed like the awesome rockstar as I envisioned him. In my own view he was weirder though, but this 'popular' version does it really well for me. I like the way he's constantly changing to more ridiculous clothing in the trailer. The could make a really good parody out of that. And someone already pointed that out yesterday IRL, that the poetry was already in the radioplay. Still curious.
  2. Hear Ye, Hear ye. I Bring you my Idle Thumbs Video

Every movie should have more explosions, you witless dullard!
  3. Games everyone likes (but really suck)

The quintessence of it would be Final Fantasy 7 which is completely the most overrated game ever and not even good at all. Also, The Longest Journey was kind of disappointing, which was also because of the puke-a-listic localization. Let's see... for the rest I'm pretty good. There's more stuff that is totally overrated, but nothing I really hate hate.
  4. Hear Ye, Hear ye. I Bring you my Idle Thumbs Video

Hey that was pretty great! I thought that some of the editing was actually quite good, especially the couch-roll montage and the bit where you push the beaker under the waterdispenser. It actually makes me want to go shoot some random erratic movie like this! And with the necktie and your particular script, you even had a David Brent going there in the beginning!
  5. Hitchhikers Guide - new trailer

Oh you grumpy old men! I liked that first trailer. But the second was better because it reminded me of the trailer for The Comedian. It's still kind of fresh and tangy when trailers break the fourth wall. I liked especially the bit about the low voice who's been smoking cigarettes since he was seven. But the movie also promises to be good. I especially look forward to the Vogon poetry and how they've done that aurally. It should be quite taxing and wonderful if it's done right. And scary as hell.
  6. Bee Pc

Have you been listening to Chris Rock? Just asking...
  7. I would love to see more idiosyncratically Japanese titles arrive here. But you're right, Nintendo's attitude is completely sucky. They don't give a shit about us [Europe at least] and their arrogance is legendary. Still, they do make some of the best games around, have a great console and the best controller in existence.
  8. Full Throttle

Even before FT2 was cancelled, I really thought it looked horrible and kind of knew this was going to be shit. That's why I didn't mourn a minute when they cancelled it.
  9. Idle Thumbs and the CONs - A modest proposal.

I don't think these guys are dumb or anything. It's not like they're doing anyone a favour by making those games, but I wouldn't want anyone doing something like that to me, especially not if a shitty game was forced on me by some Evil Publisher. Besides, this is Penny Arcade's job
  10. Wonderful, Sad, Touching, Gorgeous Syberia

I'm afraid that if I buy Syberia on the positive hype from you guys it'll turn around to be another Longest Journey, complete with localised Dutch voices and actually not being very good at all
  11. Games that never were...

    Psychonauts for the Gamecube
  12. House of Cosbys

    It's so absurd =D
  13. Psychonauts.com huge content update

Oh shit, I want a whole comicbook full of those Psychonauts strips. They're so good!
  14. Halo, what a waste of time?

But that can't become an excuse for designers to just make big slabs of dull architecture "so the player can imagine a whole big beautiful world of his own!". Of course your mind can make something pretty out of it -out of anything. You can imagine something like tetris being a battle between a people and their religion; a god throwing down lighting in odd shapes. You know what I mean? It's up to you if you want to see more in it than is required, but to me, I would like to see things in games that I couldn't have imagined on my own. If I want to look at grey colonies I can just visit the nearest vinex suburb. But if I think about Psychonauts, now there's design that's adding something to my awareness of design. That's not about spoonfeeding and not wanting to think on your own, but it's about enriching yourself by looking into what makes a designer tick. And Bungie just seems to like metal gratings and substrata rock.
  15. Halo, what a waste of time?

At one point I played the multiplayer splitscreen thing and it was a nice experience, as a shooter definitely the best at the time for any console. But then one week ago I watched a friend struggle through the singleplayer and I was bored to bits. I only saw a few snapshots but damn, it was all drab grey corridors and confusing, uninteresting architecture. One big uninteresting maze really. Halo got its status because of its multiplayer [support], but I doubt its singleplayer is really anything special.
  16. NO! What did they do to Batman?! Why does he look like Jackie Chan in his animated series?! What is the meaning of this -what's this all about? I understand, but I do not comprehend.
  17. Excuse me but did you just talk ill of the Batman Animated Series, which was a genius piece of work that inspired the whole industry, even revitalised it?
  18. Haha, that is great. Actually I'm still loading the content of the page. Be back in a sec. [added] it left me completely Meh. I couldn't care less. What, just because theres another stupid show that I'll never see anyway? Why worry? Let them have it, at least they'll leave us alone for some time.
  19. Scary stuff

I guess my prophecy of doom was correct. I hate it when I'm right.
  20. Tim on Gamespot TV Thing

Tim's Beard had gotten such mythic proportions through all the hype that I wasn't that impressed when finally I saw it. And he's not so much George Lucas with that beard as Bud Spencer
  21. Willy Wanka & The Chocolate Factory

I watched 2001 without a problem, but I did fast forward through the psychedelic 15 minutes. After which the ending left me utterly confused. But maybe that was my fault, and if I had opted to watch fifteen minutes of groovy technicolour swirly thingies, I'd have illuminated my mind to new perspectives.
  22. General World of Warcraft topic

Yeah, it's the same as when they made the science fiction game Starcraft, and then they decided to make the Terrans feel and sound like they were coming from the American civil war, North vs South, rednecks and blue collars and whatnot. Even Blizzard itself was surprised by that, but it really helped to give Starcraft a surprising shine.
  23. "This Is Why Your Game Magazine Sucks"

I know the feeling. Now, without implying that it's impossible to top Gamespot and its ilk (in terms of what they write they're rather the same as the standard magazine), I do feel that it's especially necessary for magazines to get an 'angle', to provide something that others don't. If only entertainment in a unique way. Which isn't the childish poopypranks like just about every fucking Netherlandic magazine out here I'm looking at you, PC Zone Benelux, Power Unlimited, Gamepro, Gunk, whatever whatever why don't you just die? So, that's what I think. There are respectable magazines here though. Well, one.
  24. General World of Warcraft topic

It's not even about speaking medieval; I've yet to witness the first person utter "thee" or anything of the ilk. Roleplaying is just a matter of writing/speaking coherent sentences and try to make it a bit atmospheric or even poetic. It doesn't need to be shakespeare. In fact, the Warcraft universe doesn't even have that kind of language. It uses a strange idiosyncrasy of its own. Sometimes it's poetic and mildly medieval, and then there are, indeed, jiving Trolls.
  25. General World of Warcraft topic

As one of the officers of my guild I enjoy a policing duty. I regularly see to it that people in the guild (Dawn of the Forsaken) maintain roleplaying and keep leetspeak to a low. People usually roleplay mediocrily. I want to try harder myself in the future to really play my character.
