  1. Kiwis

Kiwis can be pretty good. I actually like my fruit a little bit unripe. Can't stand it when bananas melt in my mouth, I go all EEUUUUEUUGGHHH!.
  2. Boycott Star Wars III

    George leaves us no choice.
  3. Boycott Star Wars III

I had already kind of decided that my future children would see the original thing first. Then wait a year or twenty, and THEN they'd be exposed to the new'ns.
  4. Tell Us About Yourself

Well how about that. In an hour I'm leaving for Germany to stay on a camping there for a two-month first part of my internship at Bad Brain! =) Exciting, but this week I won't be able to go onto the internet anymore because of it. Long story. So this is a temporary goodbye to you all, see you again shortly. I'm glad the E3-rush is over now, so I can look forward to abslutely nothing having changed on Idle Thumbs in a week from now. Phew!
  5. Yes or No?

Cant help but feel a bit said, but you can't turn the tide. I'm still going to vote anyway, why would I all of a sudden not vote? If anything it's still a matter of leting your voices be heard. Now we can't possibly take the reslts of our referendum seriously. Maybe the results of all votes should have been kept secret until all countries had voted. Anyay, I think there will still be a time when Europe grows closer. Now we just have t wait a bit longer, unfortunately.
  6. Idle Thumbs Giveaway!! - DOOM III Xbox

  8. Idle Thumbs Giveaway!! - DOOM III Xbox

I could never top those! Maybe I'll give it a shot. Even though I have no Xbox. Just for dibs.
  9. Willy Wanka & The Chocolate Factory

That Wonka haircut is outrageous. Such camp!
  10. Video games sales chart

What? I thought Psychonauts was doing great!
  11. Spore presentation from GDC now available!

No, but they do create a more complete experience in my mind. Which is a personal opinion that I recognize for its subjectivity and relativity.
  12. Spore presentation from GDC now available!

What I meant to express was more the worry that it'd be more of a collection of Pirates-esque minigames. I'm still thinking in terms of narrative development, which Wright clearly said isn't present in his game in such a clearly defined form. So maybe I should keep my mouth shut.
  13. Spore presentation from GDC now available!

I'm just curious how deep the game will be. From this one presentation it seems like a huge array of funny tools to tinker with, but is there a game in there?
  14. Spore presentation from GDC now available!

Wright is a funny, sympathetic guy! Spore looks nice. I don't know if it'll be a game so much as a sandbox. Still very interesting and impressive.
  15. "in the mould of Doom - but without the gore"

This in turns reminds me of the lowest of the lowest triple-F game called "Ebola". You play a doctor trying to save Africa from the virus. You're in a helicopter and you have to kill everything in sight. The tagline is "save the victims". This concept sounds godawful, but wait till you see the execution. That was the worst birthdaypresent ever. Fortunately it was never meant seriously
  16. "in the mould of Doom - but without the gore"

Obviously, but not necessarily. It's about the Christian virtues and all that. But what strikes me is when I look at screenshots of Cutechumen I see all those bats and vampires and zombies and tombs. Such dabbling in the occult seems hardly Christian, even if there isn't any blood* or gore** *or green blood **or green gore
  17. "in the mould of Doom - but without the gore"

Those games look dreadful. Not because of their aged graphics, but for their total lack of design. It's like Quake, but then with blue instead grey as the main washed-out colour. I'm not saying you couldn't make a good 'Christian' game. In fact it could very well be super. If you take some stories from the Bible and do something with it you could make an awesome game. But these (Catechumen and something called Ominous Horizons) aren't it.
  18. Jobs suck...

Wow, didn't know you got upgraded Marek. Congrats. Now tell us about your secret projects and whatnot. I think Bad Brain is perfect for me. It's small, enthusiastic and offers many opportunities. And Germans may have cannibalistic intents, they'll leave your soul alone. There are limits to everything.
  19. Jobs suck...

Wow, all of a sudden everyone's working! I'm starting a two-month internship next week and that alone is making me nervous! What if I don't like it? What to do when I can't maintain an 8-hour day in front of the computer? It'll be great I think, but I still worry a bit
  20. Yes or No?

The biggest malefactors in the referendum have been the government, who has turned many people off with obviously manipulative pro-propaganda, and the bashing our image of 'Europe' got when we got screwed with the Euro and all of a sudden everyone took financial advantage of us. Those two things have caused a lot of cynicism and unrest among the people, who in turn want nothing to do with Europe anymore. Because of these two reasons I myself was thinking about voting no as well. But only shortly ago I realized that if there wouldn't have been all this surrounding flimflam, I'd have voted yes without hesitation, because I've always been very internationally minded. That is when I decided I'd vote yes. Rather than voting no because I'm afraid of a European superstate or a European president, I'm saying yes because I want to strive for an idealistic vision of the future. However wrong it could go, we'd be fools to abandon all ideals. I'd rather take the chance to see beautiful things happen than to regret a standstill of progress.
  21. Domo aligato Mr. Hideo

I can't follow a word he said. It MUST be genius!
  22. Gamer's Manifesto

It's a great read, but some things are a little too strong or are seen from too much of a narrow hardcore gamer-vision. Save points, as discussed here greatly, can sometimes be a designing choice to pace the game. Giving away the big guns at the start may be a gamer's fantasy but it would hurt the drive to find other items and the build-up as well. A lot of the other points are really just little tidbits of complaints about the biggest mainstream games, disregarding the expanding array of inventive titles that are appearing next to it. It's also a bit like preaching to the choir; most of the readers reading this are leaning towards more of an avantgarde approach already anyway. We're well aware of the problem. Nice that it's been poured in an amusing form for once, but to me it seems a little superfluous. Though that's far too strong a word.
  23. Spore

Love the animated intro on the site.
