  1. Broken Sword 4 annouced!

It's all about the right timing. BS was quite nouveau with its serious tone back then. Standing out now would mean coming with a humourous, 2D game in this onslaught of 3D prerendered or realtime, deadly serious, realistic adventures. Nothing against those by the way. But they just don't appeal to me as much as 2D =)
  2. Broken Sword 4 annouced!

For some reason, that gave it a realistic tinge for me. BS1 was a game about crazy cults and neo-templars and whatnot, but it didn't have stereotypical, exaggerated characters and that gave it validity as a realistic adventure. I guess.
  3. So,

Is that you, Von Bismark? Why, I remember when we used to jump around in lederhosen on an Alpine meadow!
  4. a little tribute to the world's greatest sauce

Chips? Or do you mean fries? Or is this some sort of crazy British fish 'n chips thing? Everything is alright.
  5. Broken Sword 4 annouced!

I'm not sure if Steve is in the BS4 team. He's working on his Juniper Crescent game at the moment, but I don't know if he has left Revolution or anything. But it would be nice, the man is a Broken Sword expert after all.
  6. Thumb! Thumb! Thumb! reviews

Morrowind (Rodi-version): : well-written fiction within the gaming world, enormous catalogue of lore and history. It's like a Tolkien appendix rolled into a game! : the surroundings, though astounding, could have used more landmarks that really make it an interesting environment. The ashlands can become boring after the hundredth blighted kilometre. : Cliffracers and enemy models. World doesn't notice anything you do, so there's only superficial interactivity.
  7. a little tribute to the world's greatest sauce

I don't think I've even sampled Tabasco. And I couldn't say which sauce I like best. I'm not much of a sauce-person. Wait, appelsauce. Yumm. And Mayonaise. I effing drown 'em in it.
  8. Coolest 80ies TV series moment?

Jake; I've always hated and still hate the Transformers toys. I think they're extremel ugly and look nothing like the characters from the series, the old, 2D ones having lots of personality. I also think that all of the efforts to 3D Transformers to date were either incredibly ugly (Beast Wars) or plain devoid of character and charm (that commercial with the transforming car). I love the old animated series because it's 2D. It doesn't matter they're machines, they still have lots of life and character. 3D will inevitably chip away at that. It lacks the charm of handdrawn animation.
  9. "Cow bell" man for president?

    Aye, better him than Ahnuld!
  10. Geist

Manny, I've seen those disturbing puppets before, but I never knew what the hell they were from. Tell me!
  11. Tell Us About Yourself

What's Warcraft DOTA Alstars? A particular multiplayer map of Warcraft III is my first guess.
  12. Clone Wars

I mean to pick up the DVD once it drops a trifle in price. Genndy Tartakovski was responsible for Dexter's Lab and his (her?) highly stylized style, though not my taste entirely, is interesting and suitable. Pity the real voices will probable not be used. Was that too much to ask?
  13. Tell Us About Yourself

I had completely forgotten about Jomanda, but there are freaking STATUES of Flipje van Tiel everywhere. Comicbooks, merchandise, the works. But it's worth it. My little corner-appartment is awesome.
  14. Tell Us About Yourself

Okay everyone, I'm back from some very arduous times in my life. I've just been through a gung-ho moving from my old home I got kicked out of, to my new excellent appartment in the middle of a mediumsized city in the Netherlands, Tiel. Been decorating my room in the past few days. I feel right at home now, but the execution of the ordeal was tiring and erosive to my mind. I need some rest, which I'll get during my vacation to Scotland (Edinburgh). I'm going to see the annual military tattoo because my mum is a Scot-fan and plays the bagpipe. I've seen it on tv a few times and it should be an enjoyable spectacle. But mostly I look forward to playing Another Code on my DS which my girlfriend bought for me for my birthday on the twelfth. And I just got Psychonauts! Woohoo! The bx was a bit crushed unfortunately but what can I do about it? I'm so anxious.
  15. Coolest 80ies TV series moment?

Man, I already hate that movie. 3D Transformers are a blasphemy and I don't see that changing any time soon.
  16. Somebody justify Beyond Good & Evil to me

To get it out at all, I'm afraid. There's no denying that the ending is one of the weakest parts of the game, even though I got a nice, epic Starwarsian feeling from it. However, the road to the ending was enchanting enough to make it all worthwhile.
  17. Coolest 80ies TV series moment?

Yeah, pretty cool. I noticed that too when watching the Transformers Movie two days ago. It's the year 2005. Decepticons are busting up Autobot city RIGHT NOW. You, Megatron, who are without mercy, now plead for it?
  18. 2HB for Sale

Way to go Chris for your purchase. Post those pictures when you have it. It'll be a fine addition to the legacy of Extremeness that started publically, I believe, with you holding an NGage.
  19. company outlook

Scrutinizing Agent Smith might be a wrong idea.
  20. Somebody justify Beyond Good & Evil to me

Well sorry for overacting. But the first post only seemed to cover the weird attitude of the world and while typing I only just realized it for the first time. I thought I made it clear that I wasn't trying to overrule your opinions. Loonyboi, what you said made total sense. And it terrifies me to no extent that a game can be in production for 4 years and still be rushed. Brr!
  21. Somebody justify Beyond Good & Evil to me

Not to be a bitch, but you're saying you can find yourself in an opinion that's 90% about "this world doesn't make sense", when it clearly involves a fantasy universe. I'm sorry, but if you can't get past the fact that the inhabitants of the game are anthropomorphic and instead of just enjoying the imaginitive weirdness of the game you're trying to nitpick it to death... well, than you must not enjoy most games that aren't totally based on real life. Getting stuck on stuff like that is saying that designers should be less creative and just make everything realistic. Just enjoy the idiosyncrasies of a gameworld. I could understand it if a world was sloppily executed, but BG&E's universe is very accomplished and artful, polished. Now it could be that you have other gripes with the game that I'd be less inclined to call bullshit. If so I'd like to hear them. But just remember, this isn't a Spanish inquisition. I'm not trying to bully you out of having your own opinion. But I'm guessing there's more to it than just not liking the bartender to be a cow.
  22. Somebody justify Beyond Good & Evil to me

It is that elusive mix of visual style, wonderful art direction, a world that doesn't feel constricting and most of all, that palpable amount of love poured into every cranny of it. It represents everything I love about games. It's not too difficult so as not to hinder progress, it practically plays out as one giant cinematic, interactive cutscene, and it has way more (character) depth than any of the Zelda's, which was THE most important aspect that continuously disappoints me in that series. But at the same time, I can also so understand how you could be disappointed with it if you had been hearing nothing but praise and hype about it. I'm telling you, hype is the fucking devil and killer of games.
  23. Holy Crap!!!

It was one of the few computers not in classrooms but freely accessible in the hallways. But yeah. I resisted the temptation to do something crazy like DESTROY ADVENTUREGAMERS or something though.
  24. Happy Birthday MetalMickey!

    Congrats. Yesterday I was lazy
  25. Seen any good movies lately?

Yesterday I saw Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas for the first time and I liked it! This was also because I knew what to expect, and as such I was able to enjoy every delightful moment of it
