  1. Obligatory iPhone thread

Yeah, I really dislike those first few tarnishes on my tools. Then it switches to a feeling that the rustier it is, the more personality it has. Touch screens not included by the way; those are just annoying to have scratched and you feel the decreased smoothness. But nevertheless, I'm always quite careful with my equipment. I like to keep it as shiny as possible. If that makes me anal, so be it I just like things to be in proper condition.
  2. Blogs about Japan

http://japanmanship.blogspot.com/ You probably already knew this awesome blog, but it's about a gamedev in Japan who comically relates his adventures and vents his frustration. He actually posted here some time ago, once, and since that time we probably all read it
  3. Sixaxis controller wins emmy... what?

Once again, Sony are proven to be either liars or idiots, with their rushed and possibly fraudulent press release! Hooray! The world might not be full of idiot award ceremonies yet!
  4. For Pete's sake, I read and understood Stephen Hawkins' A Brief History of Time, so I know everything about black wholes!
  5. Haha! In the movie something becomes painfully apparent... even in the 80s people were miswriting 'definately' on the internet
  6. Ys; I think my track record speaks for me when I say it was a simple typo-sort of thing done in haste. I spotted it today and could have corrected it, but I didn't know then someone would take such great offense at it As for the PS3; I confirm what Marek says. I saw the PS3 they had at Guerrilla and it was covered in a one centimeter layer of dust. I did touch it, though, for bragging rights.
  7. Sixaxis controller wins emmy... what?

    NAIVETEK?! Hahaha
  8. I occurs to me that the PS3 is flipping ugly =( It's this generation's Xbox: an unwieldy black hulk that doesn't fit anywhere and seems to be rightfully ashamed of its own shape; a black whole sucking up all the light around it. This generation is all about being light; about subtle curves and showing them. I think it's be unwise for Microsoft to make a black 360 just because there are a few gothic teenagers who think black is automatically 'cool'.
  9. I don't really know, I've just heard rumors. Aside from the colours, maybe some firmware upgrade or something? Something that you can't just download. But I don't know. It's just that the 360's tale sounded familiar.
  10. more complete idiocy

I just read the whole article and I don't have a fucking clue what it's about. Is it about cheating? In-game advertising? Criticism towards either of these? Objective report? What a complete waste of words. Worthless.
  11. Photoshop Contest

He's awesome. This pope has given us the most entertainment for our buck. I wouldn't want one not looking like emperor Palpatine anymore.
  12. GoTY 2006 meta thread

Concerning Rocket Slime: apparently it's not even coming out here in Europe? What the hell is up with that? I asked my editor and looked at him really cutesy and he said I may be allowed to do an import review (for [N]Gamer). It seems like such a nice, original game.
  13. Spidermonkey; it's certainly not an Xbox-exclusive lamentation. The Wii is also getting an upgrade around halfway 2007. So I guess it's just the sign of our times. But I don't think it's such a bad way to do things. After all, it prevents consoles from becoming obsolete after a few years, and gives newcomers a nice incentive to buy it.
  14. Marek: putting the "e" in Mark. Wow, we've really gone offtopic. Mea culpa. Back to the trois cent soixante.
  15. Instant Idle Thumbs contest! Ship Simulator is something people will work their butts off for! (or maybe that one calls more for a random, unsollicited draft) But wow, you review 50% of what you get? I rarely read anything from Marek Bronstring, so it must be on some secret, personal blog!
  16. Aren't the publishers taking notice that the Thumb rarely updates and there's only a minute chance a review copy will actually spawn a publication? Or is it for something other than IT?
  17. I wouldn't know. Won't that depend on the game? As soon as the 360 supports 1080p, why couldn't developers make their games for that resolution? Otherwise, you know... what's the point?
  18. That might be a smart move, if you can bear a few weeks or months without the console. Of course, for me it's good news, because I'll get an upgraded version when I buy it in a few months. Not that I'll be able to enjoy 1080p yet, as I don't even have an HD tv, but that's of little concern.
  19. Lego Star Wars 2

Oh, I forget of course than more than three characters on screen causes huge lag on the DS. Ahhh, how to rush out a game and ruin it.
  20. Happy Friday. Oh, and...

The current versions of Freeloader (i.e. the Gamecube ones) work on the Wii, but only for GC games. An upcoming Freeloader has already been confirmed that will also handle Wii games. I wish they'd just cut the crap with region locking though. It's only a few percentages of the entire audience that they're hurting with this, so why bother? It's not like they'll lose whole markets. And it's working ab-so-lutely fine for the handhelds, so why the conservatism, oh consolemanufacturers of the world?
  21. Happy Friday. Oh, and...

You can do that easily? The switcheroo I mean.
  22. Idiots at work

No, he isn't the source of lamentation towards Spaff. His plea clearly indicates that the lamenting is in Spaff's control, which wouldn't occur if the guy had already made up his mind to lament him in the future.
  23. Happy Friday. Oh, and...

What is it? I've heard about it, but not more than that. (And when is Chrono Trigger coming to Europe )
  24. Idiots at work

I guess he's saying you just shouldn't complain about it for the while being.
  25. Painting my room

There is news! This morning I checked out a possible apartment and I liked it a lot and signed up for it. So as soon as the financing is done, I'll have my first own crib! YEAH!! So obviously I also checked out the possibilities for a wall painting. Unfortunately, all the rooms have been pasted with white whateverstuff in a fine texture like brick. I don't think that'll really lend itself beautifully for painting, but I could be mistaken. Does anyone have any idea on whether it's possible to paint on such a somewhat grainy, rough texture? A last resort would be the plain wall in my hallway. That'd be awesome too, to have a seascape there, but the only thing is the painting itself might be dangerous as the wall is perilously placed over a steep staircase. Thoughts!
