  1. The hardest platform game ever

I tried it again and it failed spectacularly once more.
  2. Movie/TV recommendations

Whoa. Hold it right there. Don't be messing with Rupert Everett now, y'hear?
  3. The hardest platform game ever

Yes, and whenever I click on the .exe a screen appears and disappears again. And then nothing.
  4. Editorial: No Promises

I've never been to GDC, but it's easy to imagine what it must feel like. Everyone who's ever seen a motivational speech knows abou tthe kind of empowering feeling you take with you, whcih quickly dissipates into a hollow longing. So it's not at all unreadable to the uninitiated. That said, nice article. I was more interested in the GDC stuff than the conclusive manifesto at the end, but don't take that as criticism.
  5. I'm sorry I keep hijacking this thread for this, but I'm at episode 7 of the first season now and it's so delicious. I'm having a blast watching this, a few episodes every day. I can't wait to catch up with you and join in on the anticipatory fun!
  6. The hardest platform game ever

Bah, the game won't work on either of my computers, on Windows XP.
  7. Mario Kart Wii

    HAHAHA
  8. The Great "Rock Band" European Rip-Off!

What does health care have to do with any of this? That's the 'children in Africa are worse off' argument. Well, of course they are, but how does that justify another wrong altogether? Oh, right, in no way. The health care system in the US is crappy indeed, by the way. Dutch health care got a hit too recently; we're all paying a lot more suddenly.
  9. The Great "Rock Band" European Rip-Off!

So basically the doubling of price is because of: 1. High shipping cost 2. Higher taxes (almost 20% in the Netherlands) 3. The ability for stores here to sell below the suggested retail price (which is never going to be more than a fraction of the cost) I'm sorry, but that still doesn't justify a doubling up. I don't see that as a reasonable explanation. It'll have more to do with Europe being used to paying hugely more for everything, and folks being able to get away with it.
  10. Mario Kart Wii

The wheel is fantastic, it's basically a choice you have to make in the game right from the start: Do I want precision or a more exciting and fun way of steering? Do I want to win no matter the cost, or have slightly diminished chances whilst enjoying myself chaotically? Which of these two values mean more to me? Competition or fun? Winning or experiencing? Discover something about yourself: play Mario Kart.
  11. Uwe Boll: I'm a genius

I never even bothered with the pathetic sequels. Pissing on people? Are you serious? Did you even understand your own game?
  12. Mario Kart Wii

I bought it today, and the steering wheel is absolutely great, I love it, but I'm not yet sure about the game. The motorcycles seem really nice, but their don't seem to be a lot of options. I haven't played it thoroughly yet, so I can't judge properly. Graphically it's just outright dated. The graphics seem really old by now, and I hate those fuck-ugly non-designed Mii's standing in the crowd. If there's one thing I dislike it's them infesting a game with otherwise good visual design. But I'll get back to you as soon as I've played more. The wheel is really cool and it works very well!
  13. Uwe Boll: I'm a genius

Wasn't the first Postal game by Running With Scissors? Are we talking about the isometric, gritty, atmospheric, kill-em-up? I'm pretty sure that was already by RWS.
  14. Uwe Boll: I'm a genius

That's a pretty stupid reason. First of all, almost every Hollywood film has used the German tax scheme, not just Boll. If anything, it's the German governments 'fault'. It's not like he got the money from killing babies. Secondly, the only thing that should matter is the quality of the movie. The quality is poor, most assuredly, but don't go using double standards; a lot of 'good' movies have iffy funding as well.
  15. Well guys & galzzz, I started watched BSG. The pilot is done, now onto the rest of the show. I'll be with you in a couple of months
  16. Homestar Runner? Sewiiously

Just as a sidenote; the latest South Park episode, with the internet fads, was great. Such a schlocky mash-up of Youtube hypes =D Chocolate Rain, Numa numa, the evil-looking hamster, Tron guy (I Am Linux!)...
  17. Homestar Runner? Sewiiously

Wow, aren't they a little late with this? As in; wouldn't they be better off taking something from the internet that's still a bit... more relevant? I don't know if Homestar Runner is still popular though. Is it?
  18. Movie/TV recommendations

Don't forget Princess Mononoke; one of Miyazaki's best. Not really like the 'little kid in magical world' movies like Totoro, Spirited Away or (arguably) Howl's Moving Castle, but hugely brilliant in itself; with fairytale creates and bizarre Japanese mythology in a lush forest world.
  19. Uwe Boll: I'm a genius

I was totally in agreement with Boll that Michael Bay is shit, by the way. Though my environment disagrees, Transformers was a load of shit.
  20. Uwe Boll: I'm a genius

Man, I was in dire need of my Boll fix. Hadn't heard from him over a while. I'm good again, now He's always good for a laugh.

    Hahaha =D
  22. Oh this is excellent. After having seen the pilot a few years back, I finally have time (and the download) to watch all three seasons. I'm starting at the beginning of next week. I can't wait! I'll have caught up in no time and then I can join in the anticipation and exaltation of the finale!
  23. Zero Punctuation

Yeah, he totally should have loved Army of Two, just to be original.
  24. Videogaiden 3

Well, it's started. The first episode is short and sweet. They've definitely taken up a new style, seemingly emulating old 80s gameshows? I sort of miss the extremely polished setting and theatrical taste of the last season, but I guess change is good. Expect: a glowing review of Galaxy, a butchering review of Jade Raymond Presents Jade Raymond's Assassin's Creed A Video game By Jade Raymond. This is also a great novelty: http://www.bbc.co.uk/videogaiden/calendar/
  25. Videogaiden 3

Just saw this sunday's award ceremony and it was great. A real fine piece of storytelling there, inside the award format, subtly using all the stuff that's been building up over the series. Now that season 3 is almost over, it's a good opportunity to see how it was. I can't really tell for sure if it was me not 'getting' it at first, or them struggling with what they were trying to accomplish, but the first four or five episodes felt strange and not very qualitative. Maybe I was pining too much for the slickness of the second season, or the series simply needed time to explain its themed episodes. Whatever it was, it really grew into a great season, with the show showing more selfconfidence every week and some really great stuff coming forth from it, culminating in spectacular little reviews like the Lost one, and the last two television specials (the first one was a bit too weird and geared at the UK in-crowd). The little stories got built up too, with Damien Murray's presence becoming ever more hilarious, Gerry going psychopath and Zack Eastwood remaining oddly out of sync with reality. It's pretty obvious that the BBC is happy with VideoGaiden, considering its willingness to experiment with the show. I don't know if they've found the perfect fit now with the online episodes. It'd be nice to hear how it did. But whatever happens, season 4 will undoubtedly be nothing like the earlier seasons. So I look forward to the next year! But first we still have the season finale to go, of course!
