  1. Movie/TV recommendations

Now you've done it. Now you've made me remember there was a Transformers movie featuring that unlikeable piece of boeuf.
  2. So, Fable 2

Gonna buy this on day one, I don't need any reviews or recommendations. Molyneux had me at 'you'. Followed by that I'll love his dog. My dog. A dog.
  3. Little BIG Planet

    Jonathan Woss is cool!
  4. Little BIG Planet

Haha, well put. I always thought that was Marek in the picture, but his neck seems illogically short in that case. I do get flamed up over issues of religion often though, most notably as soon as they have an adverse effect on my hobbies and lifestyle. But, I forgot to douse it all in a thick pool of Thumbcasm. Happens to the best of us.
  5. Grand Theft Auto V Announced!

You left out Vice City. Now we need a mathematician to work out the correct future release date!
  6. So, Fable 2

He made up for it with a sound capital letter on 'Review'!
  7. Little BIG Planet

Hey man, I'm allowed to have my pet peeves and vent them on the internet in an unreasonable fashion.
  8. Why you should buy Sam & Max Wii...

I must admit to shamelessly copying Alex during Rock Band last night, where I'd shout in the microphone during echoing interludes ,,Drums is... [insert name]!"
  9. Little BIG Planet

(Just to clarify; I'm not angry because I now can't play LBP, because I don't even have a PS3. I'm just supremely pissed off that religious fanatics can apparently so easily hold everyone hostage for baloney reasons.)
  10. Little BIG Planet

Apparently, this was the case. Fuck over-easily offended religious zealots. "We consider the use of our holy book's texts deeply offending". Really? You don't sound deeply offended. Stop using being offended as a weapon to get your way and grow a backbone. What if we refuse? Are you going to kill everyone at Media Molecule? Is everyone sufficiently scared of you and your so-called religion of peace? Worldwide recall, what a hoax. The only reason I'd want that is to eliminate any suspicion that a wonderful creative game like LBP would support some backwards tribal desert cult.
  11. Little BIG Planet

So, what happened? Did the developers think they were buying up songs that had gibberish lyrics, and it turned out to be Arabic? =D
  12. Why you should buy Sam & Max Wii...

This guy is amazing. He is stunts, he is British... what more is he?!
  13. VIDEO GAMES

Pretty smart. But back to defining the fucking thing: is it as simply as 'assuming that the conclusion is true in the argument'? And does 'circular reason' fall into the category, or not entirely?
  14. VIDEO GAMES

Hey, whatever floats your boat =) I have no personal stake in how you use language. I'm trying to figure this out for myself.
  15. Brütal Legend without publisher !!

Even though Riccitiello has gone up a fair few notches in my view, he's talking baloney here. Brütal Legend isn't a "creative risk". It's a "financial risk". But it sounds way better if you call it a "creative risk", because then you make it seem like you're focussing on the artistic side of things. Anyway, the game is still something that could really make some money with the correct marketing force behind it. All the planets are aligned and all that; there's celebs backing it, heavy metal has never been more popular in the scene... the wait is for a publisher who's got the stones to take this on and prove that Schafer can make a commercially successful game. I do fear for his reputation if BL is another failure in sales =(
  16. VIDEO GAMES

There is never a situation in which 'which begs the question' can ever properly be used, because that way of saying it doesn't make sense. It's not a synonym for 'which raises the question'. The correct wording is 'that begs the question', or 'you're begging the question', when someone's doing that thing with all the A's and B's.
  17. VIDEO GAMES

Sharply observed. What would the A/B formula for begging the question be then? It is besically saying 'A is true, because A is true', or rather, 'A is true, because B is true (but B is actually A)'. This is goddamn tricky.
  18. Grand Theft Auto IV

Pish-posh, who cares about wrong or right threads. The right thread is wherever I want to know how to pronounce your name correctly. And I like tobb-licks just as much as toe-blix. Or Obelix. The DLC for GTA4 doesn't really excite me unless it would offer more things to do in the city in the long run; like give me more stuff to spend money on and more meaning to all the oddjobs.
  19. Xbox 360 vs PlayStation 3: The Preference-Off!

I actually thought the versions didn't differ at all that much, so any preference would boil down to the controller and perhaps the achievements. And since I love the controller, and moderately enjoy achievements... it's 360 for me.
  20. VIDEO GAMES

It's when an argument for a statement presupposes the truth of the statement. 'God exists, because the bible says so, and that is the word of God'. But it is a tricky one. The site I linked to earlier gives this as an ingenious example: "If such actions were not illegal, then they would not be prohibited by the law." But of course, the only reason they're classified as illegal is because of the law, so it's a circular, phony argument. [EDIT] Oh wait, I misunderstood your post. You were wondering how to use the term in conversation, not a clarification on what it meant. 'That's begging the question' will do fine =)
  21. Grand Theft Auto IV

Just to get this straight; if you're name isn't pronounced as toe-blix... what is it?
  22. BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams

This is one of those things where I just for the life of me cannot imagine what it must be like. A sequel to Bioshock seems so utterly impossible. I look forward to seeing more, but hesitantly, as if I were a little bit frightened they might muck it up.
  23. Thanks for another excellent thumbcast! It's a pleasure to listen to while playing Warcraft. I never grow tired of hearing you getting all enthused and worked up over games and the industry. And the musical segment was unexpected and hilarious =D It sounded like a 60s protest song, haha, straight from the Beatles.
  24. They are fucking win! Because suddenly, all the stuff I was already doing -useless stuff like doing low-level quests just to get a good reputation with all the factions (not even for the mounts you could unlock)- is being rewarded with achievements. Hooray! Now there are even MORE utterly pointless yet insanely addictive stats to level up! I love this game.
  25. Little BIG Planet

Cute and cool! I'm slowly catching the LBP hype bug. I might have to seriously check this thing out soon. Is the beta already down?
