  1. Toblix has my vote. It's just hilariously fucked up with that unicycle thing, and the shark-thing. I feel filthy though. Nappi's was awesome and made me laugh hard. And GDF's Fükbot, no matter how wrong, is just Füked Üp. The others are great too. I don't blame the Idle Thumbs cast to pass this cup to us. It's impossible to choose.
  2. Fable 3 leak

Jonathan Ross's movie shows are well-known in the Netherlands. His radio show obviously not, but he got some publicity after the whole ill-advised 'granddaughter of Manual bashing' scandal thingy.
  3. Movie/TV recommendations

Who else here thought, like me, that the Watchmen movie ending might actually have been better, in some ways, than the comic? Not that the movie is better on the whole, by far not, I must disagree with the person who said on the previous page that the nuclear threat was felt more in the movie than in the comic. Sir, you are mistaken to a quadratic degree. It was quite the opposite. The movie diluted that aspect by tying it into a modern 'energy crisis' narrative, and the comic book had almost every panel plastered with newspaper headlines of imminent war and lots of details, sidecharacters like the stand owner having conversations about the war, etc etc. What I was a bit apprehensive about was the way Veidt was immediately portraited as the conglomerate bad guy. Even though he never literally said anything to the effect of ambiguity towards his purpose (stopping the war and trying to straighten everything out), the acting was so incredibly obvious. There were pauses in his lines, slow turns, lingering eyecontact... to my mind it screamed I AM THE BAD GUY SOMEONE ARREST ME!!. But the best bits were the Rorschach and Dr. Manhattan scenes. I could easily bear a whole movie of Manhattan's ruminations on Mars, accompanied by Philip Glass pieces.
  4. Fable 3 leak

Haha, that Jonatahan Woss. It was pretty predictable that Fable 3 would be coming though; 2 was a big hit (and rightfully so, I just finished after picking it up again and I've been really enjoying it for the two weeks up until my finishing it. In the end, for all its flaws, the only thing that really matters is: am I enjoying myself silly with this? Why yes, yes I am. Though I do have hopes for an even better experience with part 3 of course!), and the ending raised some questions that would have to be answered sooner or later. Speaking of Fable 2, I loved Reaver. What a great, charismatic, nasty character. And Stephen Fry's voice added a lot to his impeccable personality of course!
  5. Ah, that clarifies it, because I totally speeded past those. I was like, let's get that information to the resistance, pronto!
  6. That's probable. I didn't stop to investigate every nook and cranny. I usually do, but this was more of an organic, in-the-moment marathon session =)
  7. I really don't even remember it! Was it near the beginning? Because that was almost a year ago when I played it. The final 5 hours I played two nights ago, so that's still fresh in the mind.
  8. You're probably right, since I believe they have three more episodes to go. But maybe the last one is a fluff piece where we see how the characters have done in the twenty years following events. Haha, just kidding! Everybody dies.
  9. I don't remember having to stand on my own grenade in Episode 2. When was that?
  10. I'd always go for hardest puzzles, easiest combat. I'm not interested in challenging combat, but I am in challenging my brain, environmental awareness and puzzle solving skills. But I digress.
  11. Wait, what? I could've killed the striders by running into them? FUUUUUUUUUUUCK!
  12. Yesterday a friend of mine came around and we started playing Episode 2, which I had never finished, where I had left off. It took all night, but we blasted through it in one sitting. And damn was it hot! But also; GODDAMN that final battle with the striders! First of all, I am sick of striders. They were cool in the first game and episode, but they've squeezed them for all they were worth. We've stealthed around them, we've blown them gratuitously to smithereens with infinite rockets... though admittedly, the setting of the end-battle of Ep 2 was good. But it was so stupidly frustrating; having to shoot those bombs up to them, when there were always a couple of whatchamacallits nearby shooting the thing from your hands. The sequence quickly devolved to a save-reload-save-walk a few bots with the bomb-save-shoot-reload-shoot-reload, etc etc. For way over an hour. What an absolutely stupid way to ruin the end of an otherwise excellent episode. I am awaiting Episode 3 with baited breath though. The preview we got in Ep 2 was... pretty interesting.
  13. "Follow the trend" meeting...

The horrible thing is, Singularity piques my interest just because it has a quasi-scientific name. It's kind of the 'The Mass Effect' effect mentioned in the podcast. Could they actually have an interesting scientific notion running in the background of the game? Probably not. Uncrumpling barrels it is.
  14. Hmm, maybe a bit, but the discovery of Earth has had a lot of effect on the crew, plus they've been drifting around orbit around it now for a couple of months. The latest episode was nice. Maybe a bit of a filler which is to say; paving the way for the grand finale. Which I hope will start next week, since it's starting to become a little unbelievable that the whole crew would just aimlessly drift around Earth, waiting for something undefined to happen.
  15. Watchmen arcade game...

Haha, classic use of the panels from the strip =)
  16. "Dear Blizzard"

I am by far not a perfectionist. I sometimes wish I were, but most of the time I'm happy with the road I take with things I create. I tend to put things on a scale of how good I want it to be and how much time I have to invest to get it to that level. Then I measure how much better I could make it by pouring in extra time and see if it's worth it. I usually end up with something that's pretty good and that I'm totally happy with. I could've gone for something better, but at some point I always feel that the extra time is too much for too small a gain, and I leave it be. It's time better spent on the next project. It's about getting the most out of the effort/gain calculation. Does that sound cold? I could be a robot. That's a somewhat different way of approaching creative work, though. I've found it works in a different way than the 'perfectionist/slacker' concept and it makes a lot more sense to me. [EDIT] I am a workaholic though, if I'm doing something that tickles me. I guess if it's work I have a passion for, there's no stopping me and I work day and night to get it done (read: get it done towards the level of quality I'm aiming for). Does that make me a perfectionist after all, according to the general idea of it? Also, I'm already doubting my concept, because I notice upon reflection that I DO give it my best, my all, whenever I'm working on something I'm excited about. So maybe, I am spouting nonsense here. It's late.
  17. Dantes Inferno trailer

'The id Pack'? Heretic and Hexen were from Raven, I thought? Anyway, great games. The first ones, anyway. Hexen 2 was pretty bad-ass. I remember the Egyptian architecture and being able to catapult a sheep into the air with a... catapult.
  18. Dragonball Z games

Soooooo... I know it's probably mediocre fare at best, but I'm strangely interested in playing a Dragonball Z fighter lately. Maybe it's because I've been watching some Youtube clips of the show and I'm getting nostalgic. But there are loads of them out there, the Budokai series and the Burst Limit one for next-gen systems. Does anyone here have any experience on what's good? I'm not much of a fighter gamer, and it's really the characters and setting I'm aiming at. Otherwise I'd just go for Streetfighter IV of course and simply get the best fightergame of the moment.
  19. Is that spoiler link real, will me head explode, can I click it? I don't know! The latest episode was great, after the episode before that which was rather meh. I really liked the return of the recurring musical theme and Starbuck being all interesting again! Oh and you really hate Boomer here. Poor chief, being played like that! Chief is enormously human.
  20. Killzone 2

    HAHAHA =D
  21. Dragonball Z games

I might, though the main draw for me is really the GBZ hamminess. They even have the 'over 9000' line in there, and it's pretty hilariously awful to hear everyone say 'DARN IT' when they're defeated or killed, when you know they're really trying to swear their asses off.
  22. Lost Planet is 5$ on Steam. Is it worth it?

Don't make the mistake of paying $5,- for a $4,50 game!
  23. Dragonball Z games

Well I went out today and bought Burst Limit for the 360 for 15 Euros (can't go wrong there). So far it's pretty much what I expected; a decent fighter (as far as I can tell -I have zero experience), great visuals and a completely incoherent singleplayer mode. I am amused with it at the moment, so I'll just keep playing. The real fun should be in multiplayer battles. Hopefully there's enough room for depth and playing around there.
  24. Dantes Inferno trailer

I actually kinda... liked the Dante's Inferno game trailer. I particularly liked way they visualised the various circles of hell and gave them each their specific appeal. The snapping teeth, the misty grabbing misty things... visually very striking. And if it's a half-decent action game it might still be worth a look because of the art. It's a bit pitiable the developers are tauting the literary roots of the project so much, but that's hardly something that should influence your experience with the game. Is there already some gameplay footage available? I'm curious how they'll implement the visual style in actual gameplay. I hope the [again, visual] originality of the trailer returns there.
