  1. Tales of Monkey Island

Oh come on, that's completely ridiculous. It's obvious Ron's just having fun with the idea of there being a never-revealed secret. It's a bit of teasing! You make it sound like he's some evil, under-achieving sociopath. I'm not saying I know how the third game 'should' have been and frankly, I am perfectly happy with the way CMI continued the series (EMI not so much), but I do know that Ron is by no means trying to construct an image of himself as a 'spurned genius', carefully manipulating his flock of obviously crazy and stupid fans. That's an insulting, silly point of view.
  2. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

That sweet! That's the sort of thing that happens when you have too much time on your hands.
  3. La Celle Splintereux: Conviçion

Wait, what? We've actually got one of the developers of Splinter Cell 5 on the forums? At least, I gather such from Codemonkey's post. If so, hi developers of Splinter Cell! The game is looking pretty good and I love the way story objectives and story itself is superimposed on the landscape and scenery. Hope you make something great of it! I'll be watching
  4. Tales of Monkey Island

Yes, what a fantastic game, with great cinematics =) Well, we'll know in a couple of days whether Telltale manages to go the extra mile! The benefit of the doubt is theirs of course, with such a track record and lots of the original players behind Monkey Island working along.

What an absolutely delicious trailer. So full of fun, understatement, love.
  6. Tales of Monkey Island

That's such a tricky quest. I tried to forget Grim Fandango after finishing it in 1998 (it was made by this company called Lucasarts), and only played it again in 2007 or something. I had forgotten a lot, but not everything, but it was nevertheless a wonderful experience. But mightn't it have been better just to play the damn thing every two years? You don't really forget stuff so easily, and the chances are you'll die or something, and then go to the afterlife of your choice being all stumped you never replayed an awesome game.

You're already too conservative and old to understand the delights of necrophilia.
  8. "Duke Begins" (was set for a mid-2010 release)

God forbid, do you know how long it takes to build any sort of FPS? At least a decade, if you want it to be any good!
  9. Beatles: Rock Band

There's only two things I want after The Beatles from any franchise (are you listening, Harmonix or Activilesion?): Rock Band/Guitar Hero: Bowie and Rock Band/Guitar Hero: Electric Six.

Only if you have enough spare time. That's a time-consuming hobby.

I think it's all just a case of not developing neophobia, and encouraging neophilia. Embrace change! And the shadow! Dark lady, watch over you!
  12. Hasta Sombrero, I'm off to Spain

Trains are awesome. Planes a bit less, but continental flights are usually doable enough since they take max 4 hours (I went from The Netherlands to Turkey in 3,5 last year). I AM particularly vexed for the intercontinental flight I will take to America at the end of the year though. That's a 10+ hour flight and I'm not particularly liking the thought. Anyone have some relief to give? I could consider taking the boat, but that would take a week. At least there's more luxury and room there though...

Not necessarily. By knowing this, you can now choose to do something about it, try to understand how it works and embrace change objectively (or reject it objectively, heh). Even old primates can learn a new trick

I want another goddamn race to the moon. I want it!

    Monsieur Cok... rocks!
  17. Favorite Kid's Book

Jean de la Lune! I had that one in Dutch as well, Het Mannetje van de Maan! Gotta find that again. Great to see those books again!

Sad to hear. I may check it out nonetheless, if only to practice my French
  19. Scribblenauts

    When's it out?
  20. Gamelu Deveropelu

My point is that they all tend to suck, Japanese included
  21. Gamelu Deveropelu

Ugh, in my experience, Japanese developers rarely have something interesting to say. Whenever they're in the spotlight they will tell the most tedious, boring shit, like how difficult it was to do this and that, and in a monotone voice at that. I'm sure there are developers that are more open than that, and the Nintendo 'Iwata Asks' series was fantastic, but they're in no way more open or real than any other developer.
  22. Favorite Kid's Book

Ahhh, The Three Bandits. That one I read. But my favouritest books when I was 10-13 have to be a selection of the choose your own adventure books, translated in Dutch. Most notably City of Thieves (Het Roversnest) and Citadel of Chaos (De Burcht Chaos). I adored those books, kept borrowing them from the library, until they went up for sale and I bought them. I love their old smell (those books were old, even then) and the beautiful illustration of abandoned places and creepy monsters. Couple years back all those old Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone books got rereleased and I bought a lot of them from the first run, including the golden oldies (not so much the ones further in the series). I think the best one, technically speaking, has to be Creature of Havoc. That one does some amazing things with the format, really pushing its boundaries with interesting puzzles and mysteries.
  23. Beatles: Rock Band

Oh wow, that was great. Love how they captured the journey the Beatles made, their descent into wonderful madness; freaking awesome. And the visual style... raawrrrr!
  24. Oh, fuck

The Dutch are heading this way too. Geert Wilders and his bunch of anti-Islam populists, are incredibly popular. People are buying into his shallow rhetoric and empty plans by the bucketful =(
  25. Movie/TV recommendations

Just saw Terminator and I agree with everything everyone said here. I would like to add the quiry: why can't Hollywood write a proper sci-fi story anymore? After the plothole that was Star Trek, now we've got the absolutely ridiculous Terminator Salvation, where
