I had flashbacks to something that happened to me last year, where I had a mild case of hyperventilation, also accompanied by slurred speech. I can assure you: that shit is terrifying. You want to say something, and another thing comes out.

Gaamsavv, ah, it took me THIRTEEN years to get that!! (Wait, no). And I meant to write Atari, of course, which used to be Infogrames, inexplicably.

Not for this project, but something else they might be doing? Also, it might prompt Atara (then Infogrames) or some remnant of Appeal to rethink doing something with Cutter Slade. Cutter Slade is an awful name, though.

It's all new voices and all the models have been (obviously) made anew as well. The game runs on the Crysis War engine, so I wouldn't go so far as to call it a 'tech demo', as the tech is the same as Crysis. As a, I don't know, proof of concept however, it's superb. This might seriously help these guys get some funds, possibly.

On the one hand your (anti)recommendation rings true, because you've poured 777 hours into it. On the other hand, your (anti)recommendation rings false, because you've poured 777 hours into it.

I remembered that I wanted to play Napoleon: Total War after seeing some trailers for the upcoming Shogun 2, and downloaded the demo through Steam. And err... I really liked it! It was totally overwhelming though, especially because the demo drops you right into the battle of Ligny against the Prussians, which is pretty far into the European campaign. But OMFG it was great to have all these delicious French troops to order around, addressing you as 'monsieur!'. And the wonderful intro cinematic of Napoleon burning ships on the shores of England gave me goosebumps, but then I'm a fan of epic what-if history. So, I'm contemplating picking the game up for supercheap. There was even a nice collector's edition with a statue of N in his famous pose on horseback, but on closer inspection the details of especially the face were kind of goofy. I am susceptible to crappy Napoleon paraphernalia though.

Wizard appearance confirmed. I might one day attend a Pax, but it's not going to be this one.

Wow, the Youtube movie looks REALLY good! They've managed to capture quite a lot of Outcast's essence, including (or perhaps because of) little details like the Talaan's pointing to mission objectives, and their voices. The soundtrack has some nice nudges toward Lennie Moore's original score. All I was missing was the electronic voice constantly stating the amount of minerals growing nearby. This has gotten me quite longing for a real new Outcast again.

It has some terrible spikes in difficulty and what-the-fuckness, but pushing through it, and then never having to play it again ever, has its charm

Internalfallacy, what the hell is your avatar?!

Floccinaucinihilipilification, bitches. (And I assess this Flett dude as 'worthless'.)

Pretty original, I hadn't expected that, and I've seen a heckuva lot of churchbashing comics.

AWESOME time-killing sites with huge archives of gold

That would be www.fukung.net, a picture archive of terrible power. -
Film classic time: A Bout de Souffle (Breathless), the French nouvelle vague starter by Godard. The more I think about it, the more I like it. It's known especially for its then-novel way of editing and filmmaking, employing low-budget techniques and editing tricks like the jump cut and overlapping audio from other scenes. But the story itself is also fascinating, though at first glance unremarkable. It's about young gangster wannabe Michel Poiccard who romances a woman in Paris while the authorities close in for an earlier cop murder. It sounds wholly gaudy, but the way it's filmed is great. Especially the final scene, in all its moviemaking simplicity, was more breathtaking than anything the likes of Avatar could ever dream of. Simply wonderful.

How come all that smoke and mist is blowing, when there's no wind?

Oh shit, that's freaking me out. Can we please stop developing our future robot masters?

I think Clint Mansell is a good fit for the Mass Effect series. ME has its own established sound design, but I think Mansell will be able to pick it up and give it proper twist. Today I listened to a truckload of ME songs and hotdamn it's good. Especially the first game has a few pieces that so perfectly capture the feeling of being in a lonely universe filled with sterile technology. The music from the Presidium, or the Citadel wards, and most especially inside the Normandy, is fantastic. I still think Bioware made a huge mistake by not having music in the Normandy in the second game. That really took a lot of atmosphere away from a place you're spending a lot of time in and should probably have the most distinct impression possible. Not 'in your face' style, but... well, like how Mass Effect 1 did it

That's actually not a bad idea. I'm gonna Youtube all the good bits and watch the story, without having to play the game. That's wildly not what's supposed to happen, but for this game it's perfect for me.

Earliest reporting on Kotaku (yeah, I know) suggests the game is pretty nice, in a low-key, oldfashioned way. Duke fans should be pleased.

I have sort of maybe officially given up on Fallout 3. I gave it a fair shot and played for multiple hours, well into Megaton, gave it some time... but I just can't play it. The world is far too bleak and bleary for my tastes, I just can't get myself to care for it or be even remotely interested in exploring it! It's a source of hurt, because people unanimously love this game and it promises so many riches... but it just doesn't do anything for me. I know if I'd play it some more perhaps I'd get to the 'good' parts, but cripes. I feel a failure as a gamer

Fuuuuu that looks delicious Congratulations to all the above gents whose birthdays I missed!

Ooph, tell me about it. Kids being inspired by sexual content in media to perform acts of deviancy? I once read the story of Sodom and Gomorrah and proceeded to rape an entire city! That wasn't my finest moment, but it's understandable how this stuff happens.
-
Shouldn't that be: ,,I'm a wizard, and that lookETH fucked up."? Come on, Bioware, get your shit together.
