For the past four years I've been MASSIVELY into Lego again, it's become a real obsession. I love the stuff, I love building it and then it usually gets deconstructed and put into plastic bags pretty quickly afterwards. But I just love it and I hope to one day have a huge room to build and display my creations in. One of my favorite sets is a beautiful, rather rare train called the Emerald Night from a few years back. I have one proudly on display in my room, but then I thought: well, what good is having just one Emerald Night? So I bought two more. I'd like to illustrate this with some visuals. Below is the amount of Emerald Nights in my possession right now.

Is it true they made Ganondorf a unicorn? Wait don't tell me, I haven't gotting to it yet.

I know what you mean! I scrambled to get the largest wallet, but I've been running around with the max limit of Rupees for half the game now and haven't bought anything! It's so weird. And you're completely right that the game seems much easier than it used to be. I remembered parts of it to be so tricky, and yet now everything feels so casual =D

Because of the nature of shoots and its duration, it's a completely acceptable norm there to work literally the whole day on a project. But no one expects, you know, Apocalypse Now. The games industry needs to be different though, because a. it's a desk job, b. it takes years. I must admit that I recognize certain aspects of McNamara in people in my own working environment... Not terribly so, but the similarities especially in tone (dismissing criticism off-hand) are there.

Now I understand why LA Noire is so disappointing, in the end.

Now that I'm going deeper into Ocarina for the first time in years, I do notice parts where the game is rough around the edges. Some of the dungeon designs aren't quite as tight as they could be (in the Shadow Temple you can get into a situation where you have to redo a whole part of the dungeon if you make a mistake which Nintendo didn't keep in mind). Also, some of the boss fights are messy.

I'm actually selling my copy of LA Noire, I'm that indifferent towards it. Right now I can still make a decent Euro Point on the second-hand market (not through game stores), and I won't care about being able to play this again.

Brkl, I didn't mean to say that the movie is only good seen through the lens of its period. I liked the movie for what it is and regularly appreciate (very) old movies. What made me single out Rashomon for this was exactly what Thunderpeel says; it was a landmark movie for its unreliable narrator and pushed boundaries (none of the studios Kurosawa worked with wanted to have anything to do with it --until it became a smash hit in the European scene). That gives the movie some extra sparkle, despite it not being anything particularly special nowadays. And I beg to differ with you, Thunder. Rashomon may not have an overly complicated plot, but there is a magic to it that is derived exactly from its 'simplicity'. In all the flashbacks the forest is a weird, warping, magical place where people aren't themselves. I found that fascinating, not a lot of movies are able to establish a location in such a strong way.

Yeah, First Class was so enjoyable, it had a white submarine and I've been watching some old Japanese films recently. Harakiri and Kurosawa's Rashomon. Both were really gripping. Rashomon was especially good, seen in the light of the era it was made in. It's perhaps not my favorite Kurosawa film, that honor still goes to Yojinbo.

For the longest time while watching this video I couldn't make up my mind whether or not this guy was an amazing douche. Starting with that oversimplified right-mind-left-mind BS and going into what I thought was a childish reasoning (I can't wrap my head around quantum mechanics, so they'll just have to accomodate to my shortcomings), things got interesting when he was apparently going to display some awesome quantum object. Unfortunately, he didn't show anything except the device. No movie with it working, not even a fucking illustration. It was just his story. In the end it left me disappointed and even a little cheated. I had expected something TED-worthy, but all I got was West Dickens telling me wonderstories without any proof. The typing-powered laptop is amazing and its application could work in a variety of products. Companies may not be too happy with it though, because it stands in the way of their planned obsolescence. An ever-lasting battery? You can only sell that once, that's no good!

What did y'all pay for it?

This is approximately 5 years too late. The Wii is dead to me. Sorry for being cynical, but it's insane that they're not doing this for the 3DS, which is an actual viable bit of hardware right now that's getting daily action, not to mention that could use exactly this to show off to the world how awesome it is. Nintendo man... two steps forward, one giant leap back

It's funny, I recall distinctly that I had such a hard time with that spiral staircase and the timer that you describe, but I just did it in the first go, easy as pie. Have I become a better gamer or just a better Zelda player? Weird. Volvagia was kind of a disappointment after the build-up just now (I didn't recall the boss fight from years ago), but I'm glad I've got this part sorted out. Now it's on to the water temple, which I remember as being lots of interesting fun.

Okay, the eShop IS a fucking mess (though I hear the DSi shop was worse, which is depressing). Why can't I have s imple description of a game before I'm supposed to plunk down 12 Euro Points for it? Why are there announcements and other bullshit in the list on the first page? A mess. But it's not quite the mess you mean, Tanu. Unless Spain and Holland are differently, I DO have Tennis and an Arkanoid clone in the classics lineup, and a DSi section filled with games. So, maybe something's wrong on your machine, or Spain has different stuff going on...? Hey, remember that time when your country invaded my country and we eventually kicked your ass out? That was sweet, that was a sweet time

This just in: the Fire Temple is still officially the most horrible thing. The Water Temple gets such a bad rep, but is actually really enjoyable. The Fire Temple on the other hand is a rollercoaster of torture.

It's poor, but in practice I haven't found it to be extremely annoying. 3 hours of active play is actually quite a lot on a handheld and it's easy to recharge every evening. If you keep the thing on the whole day in sleep mode for Spotpass, it easily lasts days.

Fuck you for making me copy-paste this in here from the other thread

Perhaps what Subbes was trying to say was 'U2 may benefit from a sub-editor'. I agree, I also don't like their music.

A month from now no one will remember LA Noire. OK, I won't remember LA Noire. I wholeheartedly agree with Thunder's ultimate statements. I'd like to recap what I said earlier in this topic: this game features the most shockingly horrible (not in a good way) character I've ever seen in a video game, that goddamn doctor. Holy shit. To give the game some props, there were moments where it was pretty fun. When I was chasing after some guy with trumpets blaring, and the investigations against King Denethor in the final quarter of the game. But the whole experience was decidedly meh and I could never really care about it. It remains a dubiously told story going no specific places of interest. Both GTA4 and RDR were immeasurably better, more fun and more enthralling. As far as I'm concerned this will be the biggest disappointment of the year, just in terms of expectations -> reality.

Did someone say Captain Hook? TdeSh3vLvYI

Good guess, but it wasn't. The game I mean is much dinkier than that, it's an old, clunky MSX platformer. I'd be VERY surprised if someone suddenly knew

This is an impossible and fun thread. Here's one I have never been able to find. It was game I played on the MSX2 early 90s. You played a pretty small guy going through a castle filled with obstacles and monsters. There were distinct rooms. Let me help you by stating that it wasn't Vampire Killer (Castlevania) or Knightmare 2. It wasn't kiddy either, it was pretty dark. Please help me, Idle Thumbs.

I've been playing Ocarina of Time feverishly for the [N]Gamer review and can say with some decisive gestures that this game is still awesome after thirteen years. The flow and structure are so ridiculously good, well-paced. Collecting golden Skulltulas is every bit as addictive now as it was then. And the remake really does the game justice. Hyrule looks fantastic in 3D and I'm loving the new interface. Did you know you can actually look around and aim your projectiles by physically moving the handheld? This actually makes it really precise (in contrast to the horrible bullshit you usually have to do with the control stick). Doing the shooting galleries is, for the first time ever, actually fun instead of a chore. Yeah, I think that's my favorite new feature; the gyroscope-enhanced aiming. Goddamn good game.

Three things: 1. HELL YEAHHHHH! Telltale with the MOnkey Island franchise. Awesome! 2. How do you get your episodes? Say that I buy them, which I will, can I just downlaod or do I need Gametap or somesuch? 3. WHYYYYYY is Paypal disabled just now?! The pre-order offer expires the 6th, hopefully it'll get fixed before that.
