  1. Black Friday Deals

Overlord (1) was really fun. Tough bosses, but it had a lot of good vibes in it and it's Dutch to boot. What's not to like?
  2. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

    Looking forward to it!
  3. Holiday giveaway of 2011

It's pretty shocking no one was interested in Brütal Legend, but most likely everyone here already had it. It was certainly a unique experience in gaming a few years back, even if it wasn't Schafer's finest.
  4. Black Friday Deals

LA Noire was the disappointment of the year, and one of the only games ever I immediately sold after having finished it. I couldn't bear owning it anymore.
  5. Books, books, books...

I've started reading my super-cheap book of every Shakespeare play. I loved some of the movie adaptations I saw so I am curious how the plays read. So far I've read The Tempest, which was fun. I'm not going to analyse any of this, I'm reading it because I want to enjoy it and for the achievement of it. Of course, I couldn't read Prospero's quite famous monologue without in my head hearing Patrick Stewart from Extras episode 6 (season 1) gravely breathing life into the matter. By my so potent art!

I kind of liked the book when I first read it earlier this year, but I don't remember that much of the ending for it. Was it that much about the American Dream? Hm.
  7. Batman: Arkham City

Your reward for collecting the Riddler trophies is to close the Riddler storyline, which is fun and better than an achievement (though it's ridonculous that they didn't put it in). You can finish the Riddler after doing about 80-90% of the Riddler trophies.

Buddy, you have event.layerX written aaaall over your face. Would you mind stepping out of the car please?
  9. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Wow, we're really saying the exact opposite thing there, Miffy. I suggest you back the fuck down.
  10. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Temple of the Ocean King gets such bad reactions, which I find baffling. There's such a great sense of progress and the dungeon is incredibly well designed, giving you cool shortcuts and new ways of experiencing it as you acquire new gadgets and abilities. When you finally get to the end and you can just slaughter all those damned armored phantoms, it feels great. Spirit Tracks was fine, but generally a lot more 'meh' and I couldn't finish it because the final boss was frustratingly difficult.
  11. I The Elder Scrolls

You accidentally the whole first dungeon?
  12. Life

I found it. It looks very sleek and professional. I'm glad you got that hair out of your throat.

That sucks balls, Elmuerte. But it seems like this type of thing is typical. At my company we're also still in the midst of development while there is already an entire testing team on the product on the publisher's side flooding us (= me) with bug reports because, hey there's a surprise, we're not done developing yet.
  14. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

We got Wind Waker 1.5 in Phantom Hourglass, which I thought was a terrific (2D!) Zelda game. Spirit Tracks was charming, but had some issues.

Wow, that's an amazing program. I'm curious what your sitcom script turned out to be. I wrote a half hour screenplay for a series myself a few months ago that got some very positive coverage (though that is next to useless in Hollywood of course). I'd love to read your work.
  16. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

I think the reason there hasn't been a thread about any of the Nintendo blockbusters yet is that there is a growing feeling of alienation from Nintendo in the community. I notice it everywhere, including with myself. For some reason, I just can't get excited about Zelda or Mario anymore. I know that these games are going to be fantastic, but... I don't know what it is. I'm sure that when I get my hands on Skyward Sword (Or Mario 3D Land for that matter) I'll love it completely.

Running into Jane Espenson is not the most interesting part of that message. What were you doing writing a sitcom in a hotel with four strangers? Also, was there crude pornography drawn on the wall and ketchup and mustard stains that had dried into a crust the next morning when you woke up with a dinosaur tail strapped to your body?
  18. PETA are sick @#$%ers (Mario kills Tanookis)

I gotta tell you, if I came across a tanuki in Skyrim... ... I'd probably murder it yeah.
  19. PETA are sick @#$%ers (Mario kills Tanookis)

I will kill, slay, maim, butcher and wear every single goddamn thing in Skyrim... except for the bunnies. I will not fucking touch the bunnies, they are too cute and adorable. Can't be done.
  20. I The Elder Scrolls

A few years back Bethesda released Arena as free downloadable. I tried it then, getting it to run with DOSbox. I never got very far, just to the first town outside of the dungeon. It was a really hard game in my opinion, or maybe I did something wrong. In any case I didn't have the patience to figure it all out and was a bit frustrated with it when I left. It's definitely something you need to sit down for. That's true for Morrowind as well, but at least you get a semblance of easing you into it there, with at the very least an attractive world to delve into. Elder Scrolls has never been about instant gratification though, you always need to invest in these games to get the most (or indeed anything) out of them.

The first step towards guards that can easily patrol your Dwemer ruins.
  22. Game Connexion in Paris

Sounds pretty rad, but here at the company we're probably booked for the year. Crunchtime and conferences generally don't mix well.

Whenever the future prospect of long (+6 hours) flights comes up, my mind instantly wanders to elaborate, complicated modes of non-air-based travel such as train rides or sea voyages across the globe. Either that or a glorious future in which you are put into stasis before a flight and don't notice any of it. It's not the flying itself that kills me, it's the half year before that where I can't sleep well and wake up in distress at night.
