Thunderpeel, calm yo titz. I do not acknowledge this Shepard, because I play with the standard dude on the box. He is the only real Mass Effect. That's his title, right? Shepard the Mass Effect.

I've been playing Minish Cap for a bit. At first I really liked it, it's a charmingly visual game that starts out with imagination. But then somewhere along the way it all goes south. It starts to feel like a facsimile. I got stuck a couple of times, but instead of the game funneling me into new things to do and discover, it grinds to a halt until you've found the thing that was arbitrarily triggered somewhere else in the world. I can't say exactly what is so different about this than other Zelda's, but Capcom's effort somehow just lacks the Nintendo magic. At this point I'm just going through the motions, but I'm starting to realize why Minish Cap isn't counted among the best Zeldas. The 3D DS iterations are much better, and not coincidentally developed by Nintendo itself.

The new Pokémon game is a strategy game... set in the Sengoku era in feudal Japan?
Roderick replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
DS? A strategy JRPG? Well, I'm out. -
I like the new site! It came to the point where I will now forever associate the name of Greg Kasavin with the polygon creature from the header that was on there for a cool year or so.

AHEM IN THE SPIRIT OF THE NEW YEAR Happy 2012, all Thumbs! I had a classic good evening with my parents watching cabaret (Dutch standup) on tv, gawking at the fireworks all across the neighbourhood (it's free game here) and then going to bed at a reasonable hour. My new year's resolutions! (Experience shows I actually make them happen usually, no bogus ones) - Pick up Japanese study - Get a driver's licence (or license, one of those anyway) - Get an actual fucking job - Move to my own goddamn home The colorful parlance is there to indicate the level of fed-upness I am with last year's situation of not having a job and living in a semi-student room at 28.

It all makes sense now. Gordon, could you infuse the antimatter now, please?

This is so sweet. The Wordfeud boards differ wildly. I'm playing a game with Hermanl now which is on a totally insane board that rearranges the bonus tiles in a row at specific places and he just scored 150 points with 'tuxedo'. It's... an interesting Scrabble experience, more about strategic waiting than pure word knowledge.

Hi Scoops, Boost and Games! How about some new pod casted into my face?

So considerate to our specific taste and needs! -
I scored 67 points with QAT and I'm proud of it. I wonder if QWOP would work? Also (Wordfeud-related), I'm thinking about trying a French game, just for sport. It may be a disaster, but I'm willing to accept that. Yesterday in a game against my uncle I made the word 'jefes', which surprised me it worked. My uncle was probably suspicious that I had been cheating/making it up, so he queried me about it. I could then explain perfectly what it was, thank you Grim Fandango!

Too lazy to change my current one, so christmas it is and will remain.

I thought maybe the topic of the fish could have come up at that time. I'll look for it when I see the movie again because I will.

Forgive me because I'm not sure of this, but didn't Holmes and Moriarty discuss favorite composers during their first meeting, with a shout-out to Schubert?
-
I don't see Sherlock Holmes as an inventor per se, so I certainly didn't read the motorcar as being his invention.
-
On an actual critical note (I'm assuming the motor car invention topic is a joke here),

All right, I now have an iPhone and I want to get my WordFeud on. The name is HeerRood and I probably won't show you all corners of the Scrabble board, but I might start my play with the word 'HOE'.

Sure, it was thoroughly entertaining. Nothing more, but I didn't expect more. The main point is that I thought it was better than the first, which lacked some clarity.

I don't think I do that a whole lot like Chris, Groucho. I can roleplay a character -especially in Elder Scrolls- but I don't think that's what you mean. You mean deliberately changing the existing fiction of a game based on weird gameplay quirks, not roleplaying a blank character. I think the problem with me is that I like it too much to play the way the makers intended. Though my Batman could be quite an ass.

Great to see The Ides of March getting a lot of love here. Yesterday I went to see Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Gadzooks, it was miles better than the first one! It had a lot more poise and refinement and had some really gripping moments. Gonna see that one again.
