For Dutch people, that episode had a special, unintentionally hilarious double meaning. The Turkish ambassador's name is Pamuk, which is also the name of a classic character by Dutch comedian Kees van Kooten. Mehmet Pamuk is a Turkish immigrant who in his sketches always meets with well-meaning people who treat him like an ignorant illiterate, like the grocer in the picture (played by Wim de Bie). The painful scenes where folks clumsily stoop to a level far beneath Mr. Pamuk inevitably leads him to a state of bewilderment about the Dutch people. So you see why the inclusion of a Turkish ambassador named Pamuk caused a ripple of laughter in our living room

Shucks, Nachimir, hang tight there. That's a bad piece of news you got. If the girl is adamant about picking things up with the other guy, well, there's not much that can be done. A shame.

The wait is on for The Luncheon Club.

You know, even though I like the show for what it is, I totally understand where you're coming from. Stay away from season two though, where it'll be revealed that it was Thomas who shot Franz Ferdinand, and then they all take a hot air balloon ride around the world. It gets pretty crazy.

I've heard there's a good chance this will be a Superbowl short, rather than a remake. And, really, do we need Bueller 2 at this point? Or at all? CHICKA-CHICK-AAAH

Well, I can't believe You miiiiiight have a point that the series is going for a certain sense of realism which it then betrays by pulling that stuff, but this kind of show will always have a condensed sense of adventure. Look at it more like the adventures of many different families wrapped into one, with all the drama that ensues.

Is this about the flower contest? I don't know which episode is what anymore.

That sucks. Any other theatres around that could use an experienced projectionist?

Thanks, that was very informative. I'll probably get the bundle because the price difference between that and the standard version of RE is minimal (ten Euros). I can always choose not to play with it if it raises ennui. The demo did convince me that the game is quite special, just in terms of graphics and atmosphere alone, so I'll be happy to give it a try. When I saw it for the first time in action my jaw dropped, it literally dropped. It disconnected from my physical face and landed in my lap. The last game I played that was set in a spooky ship was superb as well; I'm talking about visual novel 999. It has nothing to do with RE, but I'm just saying... Well, I'm not saying anything without a proper jaw.

Wow, Puss in Boots is in the best animated feature? Seems like they were one movie short... Anyway, Rango it should be, it was great. It's entirely disappointing that Harry Potter 7-2 wasn't nominated for best picture. It would've been a nice 'Return of the King'-esque gesture towards this unique movie franchise and it was a genuinely awesome film to boot. I saw it four times in cinema. I'd love for The Ides of March to get Best Adapted Screenplay.

Does anyone have any experience with the new controller add-on [for RERevelations]? Do you need lots of batteries? Is it fun? Is it crucial to get the most out of Resident Evil?

A moving story, wonderfully told. Doesn't make me feel better though!

Price is not the only issue. One of the interesting things that came out of the NY Times article is that we can't produce those things in the West anymore. Not because we're too expensive, but because the immediate and iterative nature of the hardware demands a veritable army of middle-educated people ready to literally get up in the dead of the night at a foreman's call to work a 12-hour shift. It's the very nature of the tech industry that makes it impossible, it's not just about saving a buck. The only long-term solution is for all countries like China to develop decent protection of their workers, so that it becomes legally impossible to create these scenarios. Either that or a thorough restructuring of our modern consumer electronic needs, which is so impossible it's hilarious. We're all in the same treadmill, we just happen to be on the top of it in the West, but we're not a single jot better or more deserving of it than anyone else out there. It's hard not to walk around in a big media discounter like I did just now, see the vacuous eyes of the customers running around with boxes of TV's because today the taxes are slashed off of prices, and not feel entirely estranged of the human race.

    Wonderful second video

I'd like to vouch for the incredibly tense and awesome chase sequences of Dark Corners of the Earth. I never finished the game, but damn if I didn't have a great time digging into it.
  18. Resident Evil 5

But I bet you do that too.
  19. Resident Evil 6: President Evil

President Evil is pretty sweet, but imagine how much Remo will freak out should there be a diplomatic pouch in the game somewhere.

I don't know Flash, but good luck on getting the job! Out of curiosity, what is it you like about it so much when the work you'll be doing is in a program you aren't familiar with?

I do so hope you'll be alone again this time. It's a tricky situation because obviously Capcom will want to retain the wonderful coop mode, but it made the game so much less interesting on your own. No spooky atmosphere and an annoying partner always behind your back. Apart from that, I look forward to going into the city!
