Haymaker to the boulder! Ah, the second flamethrower boss. I don't recall having much trouble with that, but the Wesker fight was annoying as all hell. Especially getting the thingamabob out of Jill's chest. Gah.

The flamethrower boss from the beginning? He was awesome and pretty easy once you figure out the routine. I think you'd get a really different experience playing this with a controller though, it's pretty smooth then.

Nintendo finally released an update for the downloadable NES games on the 3DS, enabling people to create save states wherever they want. So that finally makes those tough-as-nails games a little more playable for modern audiences. I've been playing a little of the original Metroid and even that game's a triumph of atmosphere. Super Metroid is of course better in every conceivable way, but Metroid has always been quality. The prime series was very fun. And I really enjoyed Metroid Zero, the remake of the first one. I've yet to play Fusion, but I will.

Rolling with the Pope is also, still, a terrific title.

I don't expect a lot of people here who don't feel exactly the same way, this topic has just been on my mind a lot over the years (hence the example of Starcraft II which is already 'old'). I know people who love this. For my tastes, EO is a little too grindy and too much about random battles, but conceptually I can only give this game a big thumbs up for its balls-out hardcoreness and willingness to alienate a big chunk of audience just to super please another.

It's such a joyous thing! Pity about the poorly behaving audience in the live stream, but that's easy to ignore.

Postapocalypsism doesn't tickle me in games, but I'd plunk down for LBA3. The world needs another dose of weird, French, optimistic gaming.

Fighting is a big part of the game... in dungeons at least, and in various storylines. In the wild you get attacked pretty regularly. However, the simulations running in towns are such that you could roleplay just living there and going about your business. Alternatively, hire mercenaries to deal with the fighting.

The graphic and audio at the end of that video are just perfect I used a 3V VISA card myself, but I didn't pledge an extra Dollar. That was completely new information I learned just minutes ago. So, maybe I'm screwed, but also maybe not.
