Sucks to hear, Kroms. Speedy, what's a 1st?

I was wondering whether that was an intentional Idle Thumbs thing or a coincidence (which is highly likely).

The reason the Dishonored trailer states that revenge solves everything is because the cliche is 'revenge doesn't solve anything'. Far from being thoughtprovoking, it comes across as a lazy attempt to be extreme and contrary. Of course, once you start thinking about it, it's pretty hard to remember any game or story in this genre in which revenge was eventually aborted because the conclusion arrived that it really didn't solve anything. Not a knock on the game, just the advertising of it, which by necessity has to appeal to the Extreme Teen crowd.

Speaking of boobs books, I have ordered The Sense of an Ending and The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet. Let the games begin! I'm actually really looking forward to reading both.

Congratulations, Subbes. Is there a difference between Texas master's degrees and those elsewhere?

This might not be for everyone, but I enjoyed it: a fanmusical about Batman. hmZhMeY5L44 If you don't want to watch the whole thing (and miss out on such things as insane Batman, Irish Alfred and Superman being a dick), do watch part 5 of act 1, for some great villainous appearances.

The ending where Neil Patrick Harris proudly proclaims and everyone starts cheering, I always found delicious as an understandable, but horrible human reaction and I can't imagine it being put their as anything else but satire of the way people behave.

If you are tired of super violence, perhaps you shouldn't be playing game where you are a disembodied weapon gunning down things.

Did you crash your jeep into a ditch yet? Don't leave Far Cry 2 Africa without it!

Wow. Not only is that amazing, I also only now realize that Monopoly does not universally have Dutch street and city names on it. Wow.
-
Yeah, see, in theory that sounds awesome, but good games have a specific length for a reason - it works best that way. Not Monopoly though, that game is bullshit.

Did I mention in this thread yet that me and my friends once combined Carcassonne and all of its expansions into something we called 'mega-Carcassonne'. The game lasted two days and covered the entire living room floor with tiles. It was excruciating and afterwards I swore I'd never play the game again. In retrospect, that was maybe entirely the right call.

Well, excuse me for thinking you lived in Texas. You tell me why I thought that! I bet you know.

Did I mention in this thread how fantastic Ticket to Ride is? If so, here it is again. Best game.

Paedogeddon was the best thing on tv the internet of the entire decade. BALTIMORA

Well, those are kind of the insights I'm hoping to hear and discuss in the cast

I think the reason I've gravitated towards genre fiction for so long has been because it's so easy to describe and place. I'm thoroughly overwhelmed, as a writer, with the possibilities and full scope of adult literature. (As I've stated before, this is one of the reasons I'm so excited about the bookcast, since I hope that'll remedy some of that by breaking me out of the mold and inspiring reflection.) The story I was mulling over is very pulpy in that regard. It's the only thing currently I feel I have any grip on creating.

I saw The Ides of March a second time just now after seeing it in cinemas last year. Favorite movie of 2011, and it's still superb.
-
As I wrote that, I knew I was generalizing and that there are tons of interesting single-protagonist story characters. But also really crappy ones. So, I'm sorry.
-
See, you're just so stuck up. If people are having a bad day, they sometimes just need the simple escapism of a young adult boob.

It looks really good! Though I wonder if Diablo 3 won't scratch all of my ARPG itch. I might donate just because it looks good though.

Silent Hill. One crucial (possible) aspect of meditation is becoming aware of every part of your body and experiencing what you feel in every part. Silent Hill encourages this by making you fear bodily harm, specifically since you can't easily defend yourself. With these heightened tensions running through your body, it facilitates reaching this state of meditation, moreso than the other games. (Wow, this is bullshit.)

His reach extends from Manchester to Texas? In my own life; I'm plotting to move back in with my parents again after eight years, yah! I'm looking for work everywhere, but don't want to do that in the shithole room I currently occupy anymore. Living with my parents will afford me some valuable peace and quiet as I readjust my life. Looking forward to it.
