  1. Post your face!

Pretty rad! The goggles and gas mask look like they go great together. Any pics of wearing them on your face?
  2. An amazing bit of satire. I didn't know professional wrestling athletes were also professional comedians.
  3. Post your face!

The cat photo, which is also your avatar, is a perennial favorite. It's just a perfect moment of human-animal relations.
  4. Who Do You Use?

This is a very strange thread, with almost cultlike overtones. Also, multiple people had characters named Poop? What?
  5. Sleeping Dogs

The Giant Bomb quicklook makes it seem a lot of fun. I like the combat, which is evry much Assassin's Creed-y, Batman-y in the constant stream of countering. It also looks gorgeous.
  6. Pokemon

I played Yellow on an emulator back in the day, then skipped to Diamond a few years ago. That was enough 'modern' Pokemon for me. Not in a bad way: I still have to finish it at some point, and will, but I won't need another new Pokemon before that, or probably after. Diamond was the one with the balloon Pokemon Drifloon Nuff said.
  7. Routine

To be sure, I dreaded going back to certain spaces because of respawn. I dreaded it so much that I never played it again, which to me is an indication that I should mod. It will lessen the creepiness of the thing, but won't destroy the atmosphere on the ship.
  8. Planetary Annihilation

The developers have hinted at a singleplayer campaign for one of their stretch marks goals. I agree with the sentiment: without a singleplayer I'll likely not play it as much.
  9. Planetary Annihilation

It's not about story, it's about the world, the story the game tells just with its world building. Robots are boring, visually, contextually. Unless they have tons of personality like Portal's robots. But when it's an RTS with just robots bashing in other robots' robotic skulls, meh. But that won't keep me from playing this game though, because it has an asteroid rocketing into a planet on an elliptical trajectory.
  10. Routine

I once made a valiant effort to get throught System Shock 2 and really liked it, but then the respawning enemies became too much for me to handle and I didn't push through. Pity, because it's a truly memorable game.
  11. Assange

You can revoke consent? That's a weird thing. I understand that it can happen (probably too often) that a person has sex under false premises, so to speak, but that doesn't make it rape.
  12. Idle Hooves: CLOP

I like the sentiment in the poem. It is good advice.
  13. Planetary Annihilation

If I may give one general criticism that shouldn't be taken too hard: I find robot factions quite uninteresting in an RTS. That's why Total Annihilation didn't interest me, visually. There's just nothing at stake storywise (who cares about robots dying?) and they look like blocky Transformers, or worse, Go-bots. There's very little character involved. But again, that's nothing against this game; just personal preference.
  14. Movie/TV recommendations

What, on the basis of the Tintin picture? Or is there a new trailer I'm not seeing? Concerning Bond; I was pretty disappointed with Quantum of Solace. Not because it was that bad in and of itself, but because it came on the heels of the unfathomable Casino Royale. I hold out a little hope that Skyfall will bring an inspired bit of espionage thriller again, but guard myself against another typical Bond romp.
  15. I guess it does raise some powerful cyberquestions...
  16. That's a powerful question. What do I do guaranteed?
  17. Planetary Annihilation

This sounds very exciting. It's a great visualisation too!

Silent Hill has weapons, but using them is a nightmare in itself. Also, you need them for the bosses. The weapons do nothing to make this game any less about running the hell away from monsters. (Apart from the rather weak SH5.) Tanu, I think you're misunderstanding the role permadeath plays here. In Routine, the idea is that you can't do everything in one go, you HAVE to replay it to 'see everything'. Think of it more like a roguelike where dying is part of the deal and creates its own unique dynamic in a randomized world. I don't know how randomized Routine will be, but the point stands.

"Sierra Horror", that has a nice ring to it. Or, in Idle Thumbs fashion, "Stalkers Management".
  20. Half-Life 3

Half-Life 2 was a triumph of organic level/world design, atmosphere and subtle story telling. People want more because it was an incredibly fun, memorable experience. I'm sorry some people didn't share that experience, but that's no reason to troll into a topic resurrecting a useless discussion we've had before. Yes, you think Half-Life is overrated, we get it. I have those feelings about Final Fantasy 7 and got over it.* * admittedly after years of bitching when I was younger I too get the feeling Valve will wait with Episode 3 until the second iteration of the Source engine is out. Then again, maybe it'll be its swansong, or maybe it has nothing to do with it.
  21. Half-Life 3

It turns out to be false, Lombardi has denied HL3 to be at GamesCom.
  22. Remember Me

It has a Beyond Good & Evil / Mirror's Edge vibe. I'm holding out judgment for the while being. The gameplay seemed somewhat heavy-handed, but given enough freedom it could be fun. I gather they're in Paris, after what the guy said about a ceremony. Why is no one speaking French? What would be the point of setting a game in Paris if you're not going to leverage anything Parisy or Frenchy?
  23. Routine

Aaaargh, that is something I want to play, but never will because I'm a big baby. I hope Jake will play it though, and then be sent to Golden Gate park after dark on an errand.
  24. Nintendo 3DS

The narrative is complete nonsense, it's the worst Japanese emo drivel. But nonetheless amusing if you get yourself into the right mindset. If you're just coming for the cameos I'd not recommend it though.
  25. Nintendo 3DS

That's one I hadn't been expecting. I'm very pleased that Virtue's Last Reward, the successor to the great 999, is getting released in the West. YESSSS. And, I must admit that I've been enjoying Kingdom Hearts 3D. It's got a fun Pokemon vibe to it and the whole thing is charming.
