Suffice it to say, no Community manager.

Getting a job is so hard that one is forced into silliness. I just sent out a motivation letter composed as a children's birthday invitation - complete with centered Comic Sans writing, a gradient title and a clip art thumbs up in closing. If this is the one that gets me a job, my head asplode.
  4. Recently completed video games

I'll be an advocate: before I started using the 3DS I was very bothered by the battery life. Now that I've played on the thing daily for a year and a half, it's almost a non-issue to me. Whenever I've played a few hours I plug the thing in and it loads up. Big deal. Unless you actually go on long trips where you'll play for at least three hours without encountering an electrical socket, it should be a non-issue for you too. The N64 Zelda's are being remade on the 3DS. Ocarina of Time was a great conversion and I expect good things from Majora's Mask when it comes.
  5. Things That Improve Your Life

Butler, those are some pretty good thoughts. Meditation is something I should do. I'm already taking responsibility, so that's a good start.
  6. VG Mutha Fuckin As (Holy crapping cow)

Wow, congratulations, Sean & Jake & Telltale! Pretty spiffy seeing that clip.

"Last time I felt like this was during the shoot of that snuff movie!"

Whoa whoa whoa, way below the belt. I love Kane & Lynch. I just wish someone would make a really good game about those dudes. I'm pretty surprised, actually, that two games have already been made. A third is totally possible down the line. So I'll have no more snippiness from you, sir!

Felicitations, Subbes! That's great news. I assume the 'move to SF' plan is on rails if this goes through?
  10. BioShock Infinite

Thanks for pointing out the monkey face, Mington.

  12. Batman: Arkham City

Ohhh, that's a question. I don't believe there's a point of no return. You just do your thang and then when you load the save you can do whatever you want in the city.
  13. Warhammer Total War...

Dark Omen was super atmospheric, though I don't recall the gameplay side all that much.

How do I act so well? You're confused.
  15. Batman: Arkham City

I dig that. I really like Arkham City though, I think it's a triumph of open world building: instead of going sprawling, they restricted the size and went for density instead. Every corner has some cool feature. I found it so much more immersive than, say, LA from LA Noire, which was the exact opposite (huge sprawling place with nothing to do). I also appreciated that Rocksteady was actively pursuing something different, rather than trying to copy Asylum wholesale. Whether or not you enjoy as much, less, or more, it totally up to taste, but it's laudable no matter what. (Catwoman cat call and weird treatment of women is of course inexcusable.)

It's snowing in West Germany! 10 cm has covered the entire region. Still going strong.

Twitter is awful for getting to know game developers. All Tim Shaffer does is post joke after joke, nothing serious from that guy.
  21. The Hobbit...

  22. Plug your shit

Where's the text balloon talking about how pedestrian Peter Jackson's movies are? Very cool, seriously! For some reason I see this as an older Raz, during his post-Psychonauts adventures. Maybe it's the expression on his face, less childlike and more serious business.
  23. I don't know why I was expecting this to be less funny than it was, but it turned out great!
  24. The Hobbit...

Why is this not in the film thread? Not a direct complaint, just wondering. So, yes, my jaw dropped when I heard The Hobbit was going to be two movies. Then it dropped even further, it dropped through the wooden floor, my jaw literally hit the floor and went through it, when I heard it would be three films. I saw one of the trailers earlier, and tonally it is so way off what The Hobbit is. It's LotR all the way. Look, here's the story of The Hobbit: The crazy thing is, I don't even mind. Let them tinker with the story. Better that than 3 hours of just the things happening in the books. Three films! How do you even fill those 7,5 hours? Here's my prediction: film one ends at the point where they make the first step out of Bilbo's home. The whole film will just be them gearing up for the journey, singing dwarves, whispered warnings. All very portentous.
