Now you know what god feels like, Nach! But you know, this might be less of a diplomatic minefield than you think. Depending on her relationship with you, she might be totally cool with getting the low-down on something, and not thinking it a problem.

Perhaps you should wait until there are signs she is starting to hang out with him, and you feel the situation could end up badly for her? No use upsetting things unless there's good cause for it.

So in conclusion, FC3 is not a must-buy and I'm better off tracking a copy of FC2 instead?

It's pretty straightforward, and yes, difficult. The first hour I didn't like it, but when I returned I found there is some enjoyment to be had once you figure out how to manage the chaos. It's not brilliant, but it has a certain, small charm to it. No must-have, though.

Instead of Crimson Shroud, I played Aero Porter from the Guild01 collection. Though that's a fun little puzzle games, Crimson Shroud holds way more interest, at first glance.

Miasmata - Ye Olde Cartography, Falling Down Hills, Drowning, Getting Eaten by a Grue Simulator

So you're saying Miasmata is a good idea? -
Yeah, I got all the files and endings, but believe you me, I kept looking for that one strand I was missing

At 38 hours I finally finished VLR! Lemme hit you up with some spoiler tags. It may seem like I'm strangling the game, but I did really enjoy it! These are all grumblings after just finishing. All in all, it's a unique experience on the 3DS and worth playing.

Truth be told, I never attempted the challenge rooms. Barring Harley's Revenge, you're pretty much done.

During my time in LA I made the poor decision to try a bar of, I do believe it was Hersheys. I couldn't believe that it actually tasted like vomit. I honestly thought there was something wrong with my bar, it had this artificial acidic taste to it. Last chocolate I bought in the US! Damn.

Well, yes and no. The grand journey of self-discovery was in actuality an all-expenses-paid trip with the express purpose of writing a book. It only confirms everything about this is awful. Watch the movie and be amazed at how boundlessly self-absorbed and priviliged a person can be. Really, it's like they were aiming to create the least likeable character of the year.

'Yeah, from now until my funeral I'm totally busy with work.' 'Your funeral will be earlier than you think.' BEEP-BEEP-BEEP-BEEP...

Hey at least you managed to dive into a petite tunnel with your bulky cape this time. Once you get there it's magic city.

There must be something wrong, Jake doesn't even play video games.

I happened to glimpse Eat Pray Love with Julia Roberts yesterday while I was writing (don't ask). What a shallow piece of shit. I was one part self help nonsense, two parts condescending aphorisms. Also, every non-American Julia Roberts meets is capable of eloquently explaining relationships to her instead of fumbling about like everyone does in reality. The whole world is one big Noble Savage.

Here's hoping they show up in the eShop as downloadables at some point. I was lucky to collect them all as they were coming out. They had a very limited release in Europe. Let me assure you that even at the time, they were hard to find. Shame, because it's one of the stand-out series on the GBA en DS in my book.

Curiosity is the gift that keeps on giving. Peter Molyneux is a genius.

I must weigh in here with my opinion on the handheld Castlevania series: Portrait of Ruin is excellent. Of course, anything coming from the Sorrow diptych was bound to disappoint, but it's a strong contender in my book, full of creativity and diversity. The soundtrack is extremely strong. I loved it. Order of Ecclesia, by contrast, was much less interesting. Not for trying though: Konami attempted to return to a more 'level based' system of Castlevania, rather than an interlocking castle. The result is less than the sum of its parts, unfortunately. The disjointed levels offer nothing of the layered design of earlier titles and though the quest system is fun, the whole thing was disappointing. I'll give a go at ranking the series so far: 1. Dawn of Sorrow (I'd give Aria of Sorrow the top spot, but Dawn's appearance on the DS gave it flair) 2. Aria of Sorrow (fantastic and not to be missed if you enjoyed Dawn) 3. Portrait of Ruin (fun otherworldly painting levels, teaming up with your partner) 4. Circle of the Moon (the odd one out: a true gothic horror vibe, toned down and a lot more difficult than the later titles) 5. Harmony of Dissonance (don't let the weak soundtrack deter you, it's a fun romp with some good mysteries) 6. Order of Ecclesia (perhaps it was high expectations, but this game really didn't do it for me) I'm sad that the series has ended for now, with the next handheld Castlevania an offshoot of the console titles and in 3D. It might be good, but, you know... 2D. I hope they'll continue this run on the 3DS with another worthy Metroidvania.

I perfectly heard that in Jake the Dog's voice.

Kill Your Idols: The Overrated Album/Band/Author/Book/Video Game thread
Roderick replied to Max Ernst's topic in Idle Banter
This thread has amazing potential to just be bitching about something you dislike out of a particular cultural hangup. The whole thing about 'overrated' is that you are bothered by what other people think about something, not the inherent value of it. I mean, of course your beef is the notion that the thing is not deserving of accolades based on its artistic flaws, but even then it's a kneejerk reaction about what other people think. And that's just generally always a bad decision. I try so hard not let such things skew my perspective, but sometimes it is totally not preventable. Case in point; Adventure Time. It took me about 5-8 episodes to appreciate it, especially because I had seen so many people raving about it. My expectations were so high that the show really had to struggle and shine to appeal to me. If I had heard nothing about it, the odds are I would've been hooked with the first episode. I'm telling you, other people's opinions on things are awful and should be avoided at all costs. Now go read my goddamn film review blog!- 44 replies

Joe is the name Jupiter uses when he's in a bar out with friends and doesn't want to be recognized. So basically, Pirate, you're going to Amsterdam Bijlmer?
