Oh, I didn't mean you! You're obviously not talking smack about console gaming, you just have no interest in it. That's very different. Also, the Power Unlimited is hardly the high standard of VG journalism here... fortunately. It has a huge following though. [N]Gamer was much smaller, but managed to eke out 10 years of existence, which is no small feat.

Curse also had the great A Pirate I Was Meant To Be song, which used some pretty cool techniques to make it seamless.
  3. Curiosity – What's Inside the Cube?

    I can't express how much I love Peter Molyneux. He's like Europe's J. Allard.

I think it really is a matter what you happen to be introduced to. Consoles and PC are both viable platforms for gaming, and it makes little sense to think poorly of either one. They have their unique charm. I'm almost sure that derision comes from a place of ignorance, where people just can't imagine playing on either a console or a PC.
  5. Curiosity – What's Inside the Cube?

Once the cube opens, you'll find a tiny horse inside. Inside the horse will be a dog that you'll love, but only twenty days later when it blooms.
  6. Curiosity – What's Inside the Cube?

Damn it, I'm having a hard time coping with the fact that I can't spout nonsense theories about what's inside the cube anymore. Damn, damn.

Take it easy, then. It'll be fine. Frenetic, the way I've seen it is to first boil the cannabis for a good hour, then mix it with milk to produce tea and bind the whole thing together. Again, I'm pretty sure it's not exactly delicious, but it's an effective way to gain the effects of weed without smoking it.

Today I had a great taste of what it is to record a gaming podcast. To, ahem, celebrate the passing of the Dutch magazine [N]Gamer I wrote in for a good eight years now, we recorded a live podcast in front of a crowd of readers. It was so great. Turned out pretty long, a good 2,5 hours of material I think, but it was so much fun. You can imagine that after all those years, the staff has a pretty good rapport, so we hit it off with reminiscing about the magazine and looking into the future of Nintendo and gaming in general. I staunchly defended PC gaming, which was derided pretty much instantly. There's yet a long way to go, my brethren. For Dutch folks here, the podcast will go live as soon as we've edited it... maybe in a week or so, could be a little longer. I'll post it here!
  9. Curiosity – What's Inside the Cube?

I liked it better when we didn't know what was inside the cube. Actually, that's a fun little idea. I doubt it'll be intrinsically life changing, but it's definitely interesting and more than worthy of Molyneux.

The Wind Waker had a whole system where you fight a monster and every hit you land gives you a 60s Batman style WHACK sound, but pitched higher as the tension mounts.

The first season of B5 is kitschy and messy, some people have a hard time getting through. If you manage to stick it out to the second season and beyond, it'll be a highly gratifying sci-fi experience. Some of the characters have rightfully become classic. Londo and G'Kar in particular!

I'm also interested in that. I'd hazard that you need to howyousay jailbreak the Wii first. And then conscientiously only get ROMs of the games you own, because you're no thief.

Want to share with you a movie I saw a few days ago: The Secret of Kells. It's beautiful. An Irish animated feature with gorgeous celtic compositions and designs, and a charming, small story. If you have any love for animation, I urge you to see this.

That's a nightmare scenario. I mean, steal my wallet, but stay the hell away from my 3DS. I have some experience in my vicinity with weed being consumed by making tea out of it. The reasoning is that smoking creates a lot of fumes and hindrance for other people [in the house], brownies are uneven (you can get a single chunk with all the stuff in it), whereas tea is nicely and evenly distributed to maximize the effect. The downside is that the tea isn't exactly delicious. So the question is; are you in it for the [medical] effect of calming nerves or taking your mind off of pain, or do you want to enjoy the experience itself? Just some thoughts. Tegan; good for you to have the money. El Muerte; you're right on the money. Whenever the government tries to put soft drugs back in the ban, it ends poorly. Don't change a winning team. Ironically, drug abuse has little to do with the availability of drugs, but far more with underlying social currents in society. If you have a stable society where people can conctruct meaningful and rewarding lives for themselves, recreational use of drugs is not a problem whatsoever in the vast majority of cases.

Oh, I so agree. When I read that bit in the PAR article, I was rolling my eyes. I've heard the same bullshit about prices going down spoken tentatively for years. Guess what - it never goes down. The only actual, economic thing that I've seen to work out for the consumer in a big way are the regular Steam sales, which is an entirely different beast. But don't come with the 'when it becomes cheaper to produce, the savings will go to you!' flim-flam again. It's never gone that way.
  16. Nintendo 3DS

Yes, I agree about the Outer Limits feeling. Pretty neat. I think it took me 3 hours to finish, and that seems like the right length for what it is. Next up: Liberation Maiden, and then I'm probably moving to Fire Emblem Awakening, the demo of which completely sold it to me.
  17. Nintendo 3DS

Yep, The Starship Damrey was a pretty sweet experience. Not for everyone, I would say. It has a specific appeal, sort of a blend between System Shock 2 and The Journeyman Project. Short as it was, and idiosyncratic in its gameplay choices, I enjoyed it. I'm not sure if I would have wanted it to be longer... it was fun while it lasted and had a few wonderful moments. Padding that out might've loaded too much upon relatively fragile shoulders... though I wouldn't have minded a few extra puzzles or systems to layer the experience.

You've read what me and a small contingent of other people here think of Kane & Lynch [2: Dog Days]. It's the best/worst/best/ game.

I doubt it'd be that much more popular. Here in the Netherlands, smoking weed is pretty much legal, and it's no big deal when people do it, but it's certainly not rampant and not even close to overcoming alcohol in popularity. I could list a dozen reasons why not: weed smells, alcohol has a strong cultural link to sociability, the effect of weed is different from alcohol, there's still a cultural stigma (even though it's de jure acceptable to use), some people don't like to smoke, there's much more variety to alcohol, etc. I'm not advocating either way, just saying.
