Just watched the song (here). Didn't even know Eurovision was yesterday, I never watch it, still I found their performance not so bad, or at least unexpected. Good thing Finland wins with some kind of hard rock song. Well, show's over but if it makes a hit, someone, somewhere might want to "translate" it into Freetar hero...

Answers in this disturbing video. I didn't laugh at the opening scene, a bit shocking. However, I found the second part and the ending theme worth checking. And there seems to be more of this puppet-show coming up. video gametheatre

My favourites are...well, so many. The whole first season was great. Apart from those : A clone of my own, Roswell that ends well, Insane in the mainframe, Love and rocket, Crimes of the hot.

Damn, it gives me a good idea now that it's too late (as usual) : the brain slug !

I don't have any brothers, sisters, uncles or aunts so my mother was the only relative who I shared my games with when I was a kid. Back in those days, I was sharing the Gameboy and the Sega Megadrive with her. Still today, she likes playing old platformers. Funny thing I noticed is she doesn't like modern titles because of the 3D and all : she finds the camera moves confusing. 2D fan, retro gaming mom ! Now, why am I telling all this ? Because my purchase of the DS Lite being the first of a console since, well, the Megadrive actually, I really have to weigh it and I know she will be interested in using it. She has never caught on the PC. And so, that ensures me financial support from her in the purchase. Isn't that love ? Her birthday is next week, but I'll have to wait for the european release. Every info I'm gathering, including in this very thread;) , just convince me more and more this piece of hardware is awesome. you naughty boy !

I haven't used it in 2 years or so, mostly because I try to call my contacts on msn before playing. I was thinking about a reinstall recently since most of my buddies spread out on different games. My old account appears to be lost, and despite the ugly interface, this is a very convenient tool. ASE is superior to find servers though. New account, added you Chepito.

Agreed. No matter the game, I just love to play slowly over looong sessions. Desperados is one of these games where it is actually meant to be the best way to enjoy it. It takes your entire afternoon without notice, hugely addictive. I played Commandos too, but not Commandos 2. Reason is I got beaten by the demo of the add-on for Commandos the first. It was just mission impossible. This never happened before or after that day with any title : what was its name ? Anyone finished it ? I thought if the sequel was going to be 10x as long and difficult as this demo, it would have been a huge amount of time to spend on just one game, and I couldn't afford that back then. I'll settle this outrage and get the add-on some day. I've heard so much good feedbacks about Commandos 2 I can't ignore it much longer : I'll get it and Robin Hood as well.

Did you try the one level demo ? It's a real perk to Desperados. It features a nice little town with Cooper, Doc and Kate. The demo's level is not one of the full game. After so many years, I still have both the demo and the game installed, just in case I want to play it again and in good order. The demo is sort of a "prequel" to the game, like a typical mission a few months before the whole El Diablo story.

Pitié, pas d'appel à cette fameuse blague.

If this is an essential part of the plot, then it's not very reassuring about the quality of the whole story. I'm not much of an astronomer, but of all the icy planets in our solar system, not to mention the temperature of vacuum space itself, these aliens from outer space had to land on Earth for their vital needs...Bugger. Ever since I heard about aliens involved, I expect FarCry2 to be slightly worse than its predecessor in terms of storytelling. Let's just hope this new story will be as discreet as the previous one : you were just getting phone calls every 2 hours or so, that was ok. In other words, I kind of liked FarCry's story, reminiscing me about Jurassic Park and all... But clearly, knowing its weakness, part of why I enjoyed it was that the game itself didn't seem to pay attention about its own story.

I saw this video a while ago, and by the end of it thought it could suit the RTS genre perfectly. And today, here it is : http://hight3ch.com/post/new-game-panel-warcraft/ The next item a geek will need could therefore be a pair of gloves .

No, he did not. It was a bag of potato chips he sneaked on board.

I think the fear is about misplacing the camera through a sudden move in a game like Homeworld. Given that this engineer came up with different forms of "hands-combinations" to execute different actions (pan the map, group selection...), and that apparently even in this early prototype stage the table makes the difference between them : we could imagine more subtle combinations to control the camera in the future. Let's say based on the number of fingers you touch the screen with ; like panning with 2 fingers up and down would control height, left and right for the width, 1 finger pan up/down zoom-in and out, etc... But as I said in the first place, I believe a pair of high tech gloves could replace the last buttons needed on the mouse ; consider your right hand, you could have a scroll wheel on the left side of your forefinger, controlled by your thumb. We can only imagine, but our examples are made of games whose interface and controls have been designed with and for a keyboard/mouse set. I can't think much of how an interface would turn out with this table. As for the tactile response with virtual devices, I'm pretty sure it exists alone, not combined with a screen yet though.

I'm particularly depressed and bored today, yet I wouldn't spend more than 5 secs after its running time to think about this video, its meaning etc... So I'd say you're a bit out of your mind mate.

Oh vacherie de Belges ! That was a good occasion for me to become a popular thumb, but my PC power supply litterally burned to death yesterday. Since the fates seem to have decided that I should remain another anonymous and dull user, I just hope this silly belgian's piece of translation is full of, well, belgicisms. Might this need of yours have been of serious/official/paperwork nature, the smile of your french interlocutor reading his clumsy sentences I can picture will teach you never to trust a belgian again. So that's where 1 day without PC leads me... Interesting. I feel better now. Sorry about my awful english writing skills.

I'm thinking about Clayton Kauzlaric. I didn't know his face or even his name until I met him last week, but I knew of his work on the Total Annihilation franchise. I had to "brief" him about what you can do in RTSs nowadays, a genre he doesn't have the time to play anymore although he contributed to it so much in the past. Clever and funny talk we had, a big name in the industry for sure. Now he's still associated with Ron Gilbert and they're onto something...

Ok, it's "La médaille de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres" they're being granted. I can't make it there, but I know someone who will be at the ceremony and at least take a few pictures. It's unlikely that we're going to have a report on this at the evening news, so I count on him to know about how it went, the speeches and all...

It is actually not "knighthood" since all noblety titles were abolished in the 70's. So you won't have to call them any names. What medal do they receive ? It may be the "Légion d'Honneur" award, at the first rank : knight (chevalier). Initially a military award created by Napoleon (I got an ancestor who received it from the Emperor himself), it is now given away to anyone who kind of accomplish something : singers, actors, etc... It is still considered the highest award in the army, but has lost a lot of its meaning and of its prestige since it became so common. As many awards, it has never been restricted to French people ; for instance, General Patton earned it. Well, if Miyamoto receives that and knows a bit about it nowadays, thinking it's not really an honour he should : That, or they could also receive "La médaille de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres". It would seem much more appropriate. OOh, is there ? I have to check this out:owned:

Hmm, I just found out that only the white and sky-blue colours will be available at the european release, whose date remains unknown. I'd have wanted a black one too, but if they don't make one then the navy blue is dark enough for me. Might they match the DS Lite's colours with the Revolution's ? Has Nintendo already done this in the past (matching colours between consoles) ?

I had the opportunity to play Mario Kart against Ron Gilbert with Clayton Kaulzaric's DS during their Paris meet-up last saturday. It was the first time I used this console, or any portable console since the Gameboy... I'm 99% PC. Although Mario Kart itself did not bring me a lot of fun, I must say that I'm very interested in the DS Lite after talking about ScummVM ports with the devs that day. After 30 seconds of play, I eventually noticed the screen was indeed not comfortably bright. Looking closely about its possibilities (playing...outside !!), it convinced an old PC geek like me to buy this console. This just tells you how awesome the DS Lite is.
