High Road is just a little too arcadey for me. The first one was certainly arcadey but... you could roll the damn airplane. Having it stop at 90 degrees just bugged me. For the first half hour. I promptly stopped noticing it afterwords but it just irked. And I don't know, maybe I like the first better just because it was fresh and new then and the sequel doesn't have that same refreshing shushpah. And you could customize more in the first one too. A nice little thing. Even though it did force me to start over from scratch because of that lovely bug that zaps your save games when you made a custom plane. Oh ho ho, I wasted many, many hours because of that.

Indeed. I just had a devil of a time with that jolly little sequence the first time I played through. Then I gave it a while, played through again, and had no problem. Funny how that works. Oh how I want to play it again now. The sequel, while and awesome game in it's own right and utterly enjoyable, just doesn't hold a candle to the original. In my opinion.

Ok, the Breen/Labus thing is God-awful freaky. And I saw the G-Man(?) with the umbrella in the rain a few times throughout the game. First time I saw it I just stood there and stared at it for about 5 minutes. It really is quite a cool image. Edit: And who's to say what City 17 is or isn't? It could be any real city because the Combine just renamed them all because apparently the names we chose when we built the fuckers suck. Or maybe they're efficiency freaks.

Anybody ever go to IMDB and look up game voice actors? I've just mostly done Grim Fandango but it's terribly fascinating stuff just seeing what these guys have done. I am pained to learn that Kay Kuter passed in 2003. He was the voice for Velasco in Grim and Goodsoup in CMI among other things and probably my favorite voice. But it was nice to finally confirm my belief that the burned up Hungarian (?) in The Usual Suspects is indeed the voice of Toto.

I'm more or less immune to novicane (novicain?). Makes life quite miserable. But after about the third hit the needle stops hurting, anyway. But when I had my wisdom teeth pulled, the knocked me out, total dopage like I couldn't believe, and gave me a bottle of generic vicodin. But 4 or 6 extra strength tylenol has the same effect really. I'm sure my liver was thrilled.

I have a friend who has the slim PS2 and he hasn't had any problems. But he hasn't had it for terribly long either, but does do a marathon Tony Hawk session when the opportunity arises. And I have the most horrid luck with used stuff. Half the time it doesn't work in the first place for near full price to boot. So I've mostly given up and just take the pain and buy 'em fresh. But hey, America is a Capitalist nation! I am injecting much needed funds into the economy! I am doing my nation a service! Good for me.
