  1. i read irvine welsh's trainspotting. excellent book. and now i'm into the follow-up porno, which is...well...porno, yeah. :chaste:

and i finished alex garland's the coma a few weeks ago and i pretty much hated it, because of the lack of suspense.

  2. nowadays box arts are pretty appropriate. there are one million games of ww2-ohama-beach-let's-kill-some-nazis-yeeeehhhaaa!, this-is-not-need-for-speed-underground-this-is-better-more-girls-more-cars-yeeeeehhhhaaaaa!!! or if-we-can't-sell-this-game-tiger-woods-will-yeeeehhhhaaaaa!!! around.

the lack of personality in games reflects perfect on the lack of personality on games.

  3. The campground area is really beautiful. Wow!

But I'm having some problems with the controls, as I feared. The button graphics are just grey buttons with numbers on 'em, and the correspondence with the buttons on my gamepad doesn't make much sense. Guess I just have to play around with the settings a bit and get used to it.

Jake, I'm guessing the Xbox version doesn't support 720p and widescreen, does it?

ever tried playing it with the keyboard?

  4. i knew this thief-backstab stuff, but i just...just...didn't like it...i preferred a straightforward combat style ;)

Did you only play Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn/Throne of Bhaal (I see that you mention Sarevok), or also the first "Baldur's Gate"? Because Alora is only in the first one (sadly).

i played everything (bg 1 + tales of the sword coast, bg 2 + throne of bhaal)

but tales of the sword coast made bg 1 incredibly hard - i was never able to beat sarevok... ;(:chaste:

    [edit]

    oh...and...

  5. so...ah...alora was this one character you find while she tries to rob something...or so...

i hated all these bg thiefes...they were so weak in combatthingiesstuffediestuff but also so indispensable because of the one million traps and locks and blahblahblah - imoen (i only played the german version so i dunno if the name is the same in the english game) did all that for me. in my worms team are only sarevok and edwin (they are so coool and evillllllllllll) fighting for justice!

  6. Football is poetry? :erm:

    everything is poetry! :eyebrow:

Erm, one small thing I guess still bugs me: I think it might be because figured out a really nicely set-up character or something (after a couple of lemons), but I found the bosses to be much easier than I anticipated, especially Nihilus.

yeah - i thought so too. i also had no problem with nihilus & co... :deranged:

  7. I think you really need to have some kind of program to create woods for you. I imagine that is one heck of a lot of work to do stuff like this by hand. It should be possible to write stuff like that, right?

the guys working on oblivion use such kind of a random-generator for the game world and reengineer parts of it by hand later on. i saw this in a development video of oblivion.

  8. i finished kotor 2 around a week ago and didn't regret the buy, because it's a good, long game. some parts of it are just 100 % awesome and much better than in kotor 1, but kotor 2 is full of bugs (sometimes back to desktop, questbugs, brrrrrr) and parts of the story are confusing because obviously the dialoges have been hastily sticked together.

good old ryam's prequel comparision: if kotor 1 and kotor 2 would be footballteams playing against each other, kotor 2 would have the better players, but kotor 1 would win the game, because of the better team.
