you need to be mean to younger brothers. then they'll keep their fingers of your stuff. works for me. i'm always telling #1 how stupid he is (imagine a 12 year old little boy, who is always learning for school. always. except in holidays. he's writing good marks, because he's always learning. i hate such people. and so i'm always telling him how stupid he is.) and #2 how fat and big his ears are (imagine a 10 year old boy, who's always receiving annoying comments about dumbo and eating.). being mean solves a lot of problems. and creates a lot. but they can be ignored. yes.

with other words: the newest version of my c++/sdl-game "catch the pig" is out now. because i'm on an ego trip it's called "christian mayr's catch the pig v0.18" (like american mcgee's alice or sid meier's civilization). oh...and i suspect that a lot of people haven't heard of "christian mayr's catch the pig". it's a game about - surprise! surprise! - catching pigs. yes. ...and there's an intro! with da vinci and planes! ...and a highscore list! ...and millions of bugs! ...and there are millions of language mistakes because i translated the whole intro in about 5 minutes and didn't fix all the crappy "story"-introductions because i was...ahm...too lazy...and i know that this "press 'i' for the intro"-thing sucks but i was too lazy to have a look in c++-threads. but all this bugs will be fixed...sometime...yes. oh...here are download-links (you may need a windows-pc + directx - a linux version may come later) if you're lucky you can download the whole crap at geocities: http://www.geocities.com/fhierrono4/CtPv0.18e.zip (~2,5 mb) otherwise you can download it from freenet.de, but because of their 1,5 mb-limitation i had to split it up into two rar-files. just extract them into the same folder by using winrar or another program that can handle .rar-files. http://people.freenet.de/ctp/CtPv0.18e.part1.rar (~1,4 mb) http://people.freenet.de/ctp/CtPv0.18e.part2.rar (~700 kb) so. that was it. over and out.

Californian Governor promises less lies, more girlie men

pah. you're only jealous of him because he's AUSTRIAN and so all you non-AUSTRIANS can't see the clever AUSTRIAN plan behind his statement. because you're all too stupid to read between the lines. btw, i'm looking for some real action too. if anybody knows any good, short war songs or heartbeat-sounds or something like that tell me. because i want action. no kidding. i need good sounds. now. bbtw - and in no relationship with this post(s) here - if you think that arnold's english is bad, than you haven't heard his "german"... -
well...i...ahm...somebody else except me (phew!) played doom 3 beta 2 on a laptop with radeonn 9200 (!) graphic card, while our teacher told us what to learn for our final exams. worked quite good. nice toilet-scene.

after my week in turkey where i met around one trillion other austrian people, who passed their exams it's a big honor for me to introduce you foreigners (hahahaha!) to the austrian world and give you a ranking arranged by sympathy (i know, i know, you always wanted to know THAT): upper austria: these people are ultra-awesome, clever, nice, beautiful, *insertallothercomplimentsthatcomeinyourmindhere*! tyrol, styria: awesome, insane, interesting and hard drinking people, but if you want to have a night without...ahm...well...if you prefer awake with...uhoh...again...shorter: tyrol + bar + bacardi cola = rotaaaaaattttiiiinnnnnggggg salzburg, carinthia (you invented a very strange name for kärnten...pfff): nice people too. if you do a bunch of insane stuff you should take care of carinthian girls and their habit in being...well...intrusive. vienna, lower austria: although i found the first vienna people, who aren't assholes or who aren't dumb i found enough other viennese, who confirm my bad attitute by talking german-german (okay, you won't understand THAT...), being arrogant as hell (vienna is the capital of austria, so we're better than you! hahaha! you upper austrian!), being dumb and annoying. to lower austria: mr. englishmen, now i know why you call lower austria lower austria. i think this says enough. note: my statements only refer to the people i met last week. so if you or if your brother's cousin's father's uncle or if your dog's grandpa are viennese or lower austrians (hahahahahha!): don't feel offended and...and...i can write that, because after some actions like a karaoke performance by burping classical music in front of over one hundret people, howling to the moon and randomly talk to everybody, who crosses my way by telling them how awesome the apegodsect is or by introducing myself as viennese in viennese-slang after telling them about the number eight you get...known... i loved this conversations: me (vienna-slang): hey, i'm christian and i'm from vienna! other person: hey, cool, me too! me (upper-austrian-slang): hahaha! not really, but eight! eight is always correct! other person: eight? wtf??? me: yeah! eight! and now...go on! although they can't be translated suitable.

turkish people are nice. i think they are. i met to few, who were able to speak german/english but this reminds me to the 30 minutes conversation i had with a turkish hotel worker where i wanted to find out what he was doing in front of the hotel at 5 a.m. the main problem was that he was only able to talk in russian and turkish, while i tried to communicate in english with him... it went something like that: me: i think we've got a little communication problem there! worker: ???? me: language. which languages do you speak? worker: türkye. russian. me: oh! russian! vodka! vodka! t.a.t.u.! worker: oh... me: you know...t.a.t.u...crap music...girls! worker (grinning): russian girls...yes...yes... -
lands of lore 2 had a beautiful installation routine. as far as i remember. this is a long time ago. and broken sword where you where able to play a game in breakout-style was also nice.

Your Deepest, Darkest Fantasies about... an Apple Mac
Ryam BaCo replied to Salka's topic in Idle Banter
afaik people with "graphical" tasks, like people who are working for magazines, newspapers, etc... and do layout-stuff use macs for...uhm...because...hmmm...they're...hmmm...why don't you ask mr. google about macs? or visit the apple-homepage to learn about the advantages (?) of macs or visit mac-communities to study all the disadvantages. i would do so instead of posting in a forum with emphasis on electronical entertainment. and...hahaha...3dfx built 3d-graphic-cards for macs millions of years ago. -
yeah. after i read what i wrote yeste...today i'm also confused about this bunch of unorganized information squeezed into a few lines. but now i'm too lazy to edit something useful out of it. so simply accept it. yes.

Michel Ancel's name whispered in highly speculative news report

fps? first person shooter? well...some genres are easier to sell than others. a "half life 2" or "doom 3" movie with a bunch of new technolgies impresses more than...hmmm...i mean the innovations of a hl2 or d3 can be easier shown as - for instance - in an adventure. all in one: what can be easier be put into a 30 second trailer: awesome graphical effects or deep story impressions and turnarounds? but of course there are exceptions. -
Do you really need a complete engine to begin designing gameplay?
Ryam BaCo replied to vimes's topic in Video Gaming
i have too less experience with 3d engine development in teams, but i think that all the big publishers will also think about gameplay first, then lincense or program some sort of engine and extend their main ideas of gameplay with the features offered. i think that there is a big difference between what you see on the very first game-versions and what is/was planned. the programmers may need to implement some sort of engine first so that you can see some sort of result and that the developers transfer the message of "woho! this is promising! i'll buy it!" to you. some sort of "oh! look at this document! what an awesome game concept! and...look!!!...the title is...pink!!! hahaha!" isn't really erotic. but i think that i'm writing crap now. i'm tired. -
hey, my name is christian and all i want to write here is, that tomorrow (--> saturday) will be awful because then i'll have my oral examinations in project development, database stuff and english and my knowledge level is still low...grmbl...but instead of learning i'm posting here. and that's great. oh...and it's 1 a.m. here. in austria. really, really, great. but tomorrow will be great too, because when i pass my final exams i'm freeeeee...hahahahaha and then i'm gonna be in turkey for a whole week and drunken all day long!!!, but before being drunken i'll go to my grandpa, discuss with him about the good old times and will get incredible amounts of money and then i'll go to my uncle too. because he'll also give me incredible amounts of money. if i pass. hmmm...oh...that reminds me: i should really do some learning. in a few hours. and a few hours before i posted this lines drunken guy explained me how to unscrew gas caps. but that's a different story. so. now i analyzed my situation. and now i'm gonna put it into a shotgun, load it with all my anger and frustration and aim at you!!! hahahahaha! which reminds me: i'm mean too. but don't worry. you just need to tell me stories about cows, who are falling from milking plains on skiers. and then i'll laugh all day long. am i right, mr. brain??? oh. and i have two younger brothers, who are very poor, because they're blessed with me. as a brother. yes. exactly. and i have a mother too. she's a waitress. and a stepfather too. he's a chef. and a real father too. but he should fuck off. yes. that was it. all the anger. now i opened my heart. with a knife. are you satisfied, member of idlethumbs, are you satisfied??? huh??? i think i should go to bed. yes. that would be a good idea. later.

Ryam BaCo replied to imthewalruz's topic in Idle Banter

Michel Ancel's name whispered in highly speculative news report
Ryam BaCo replied to Marek's topic in Video Gaming
yes, ma'am. exactly what you said. i'm not always disagreeing with you. the more genres are put together the harder it usually would be to make a good game out of it. but if you put experienced game designers beyond this stuffiethingie then all this design difficulties could be solved. like warren spector did it with deus ex 1 for instance. although i never played the game. but - anyway - i love referring to games i never played. so...anyway...to have a little bit of disagreement (otherwise this post would be scary): i don't think that it can be said that people nowadays prefer different genres, because there are in my opinion (and my definition of multi-genre-games) too less of this multimultimultigenre-games available to compare them with normal ones. publishers tend to genre-mixes because they want as much playertypes as possible as buyers for their games. or shorter (and much easier to understand): if you'd sell an action-adventure game there would be people who buy it because of the action and some who prefer the adventure-elements. but - in fact - how much people bought it because of action and adventure? -
Michel Ancel's name whispered in highly speculative news report
Ryam BaCo replied to Marek's topic in Video Gaming
in context: not all genres to one, but nowadays are for instance games available, who mix rpg and real time strategy or racing games and storytelling like in dtm racer 2 (or how this game is called), together. it's like walking through the garden of genres and picking up the seeds of the most enjoyable genre-parts and plant the ultimative game-genre-tree using the advantages of all genres included. that may be one of the future trends. right after these online-thingies and all this unreal engine 3 technologie-stuff. out of context: wtf is COT???? -

When and by whom was your mother boffed whilst playing Grim Fandango?
Ryam BaCo replied to imthewalruz's topic in Idle Banter
i think everybody should boff, because i have no idea what boffed means. in fact my mother doesn't even know what a computer is - how should she know anything about grim? or anything about being boffed? anyway, here's the boff-rhyme about the eternal grim boff: mummy loved getting boffed while she sang in eternal slang about kurt cobain who was working as nanny for the kids of manny in the ninth underworld is that weird is that weird kurt who loved getting boffed by the birds by the birds by the birds wearing skirts wearing skirts till eternity and now explain to me what "boffed" means. slowly and painful. please. now. come on. do it. if boff=explain then boff me! -
