  1. MGS3: Fail? :(

Maybe it will be more fun for you to find out who you are at the end of the game
  2. MGS3: Fail? :(

Yes, as mentioned you are not Solid Snake, you are Naked Snake. The sneaking gameplay is very frustrating when you first start (seriously, consider playing it on easy for a while then restarting if you want to play on normal or hard). Once you get the knack of it though it is much deeper and more rewarding. Same goes for the combat. In itself the food thing is pretty tiresome, but I enjoyed playing it as a collectibles game, seeing how many different species I could find. Plus there's fun to be had throwing live snakes, spiders, poisoned food etc at enemies. It's an awesome game. By the end you will love it.

I see your point; if we assume that people are going to keep using Steam for the rest of their lives, how many multiplayer games will someone have on it if their account gets hijacked in 10 years time? That's going to to be a pretty big investment that they suddenly can't play any more.
  5. Brutal Legend, more like... oh fuck

Yeah, who exactly do they have making these decisions? Are they completely deaf to internet buzz?
  6. Quality Idle Thumbs ad

It's also great how many of them attempt to enhance the effect with flashing lights and so forth - just like a real windows popup ¬¬
  7. Is Braben losing it? ...and other musings.

Yeah, I rarely use highstreet stores any more. For instance, the recent news about Okami not selling well enough; I went to every major retailer and they didn't have it. I ordered it from Play.com and it arrived next day. In future I'm not even going to bother checking the high street first. I will occasionally drop into one of the tiny indie stores to see if they have anything old, obscure and cheap that I might like. But usually they don't and it's just the type of EA shovelware rubbish that I didn't care about even when it came out. If there is a problem with second hand retail, then the problem is not the people buying and reselling. It is the stores themselves. And since the Publishers have so much clout with the rest of the industry I don't feel at all sympathetic when they act all helpless in this particular case.

It's silly that they don't allow you buy back your account fidelity. What are they, communists?
  9. Why so serious?

I think I'm going to do the same thing. Most of my friends went to see it without telling me (bastards!). The remainder are proving hard to coordinate with. So a lonesome daytime viewing it is.
  10. Quote of the Moment

Somebody needs to clean up this here town o' ours. *spits* *pa-ting* Get the scum off the streets. Best send for the Sherrif.

  12. Fallout 3: Proving the haters are right?

It did look reminiscent of a reskinned Oblivion to me. The VATS looked completely rubbish to me - no strategy involved, it's like they just chucked it in to placate fans that didn't want pure FPS. We haven't seen any of the RPG stuff yet though - the dialogue and missions, storyline etc. This could all be good stuff.

Like the grappling hooks in Worms 2? Bouncing around on those things was great!
  14. Which old Sonic games should I avoid?

THe Game Gear and MasterSystem games are basically the same, but are totally different games to the Megadrive ones. My favourite game was probably Sonic 3 + Knuckles (Sonic & Knuckles being a plug-in cart that altered the previous games - a fantastic idea that was great fun).
  15. Japanese Radio

Ooh, I did a talk once centred on feral children, entitled The Biological Basis of Cuteness. You see all mammals have the same few set of criteria to help identify "babies" (which is why we find puppies and kittens etc cute). Creatures like wolves will often recognise even a human child as being "baby" and in need of looking after, which is why they adopt them. There is a very well documented case of a lioness who liked to adopt baby gazelles. Eventually other lions would eat the gazelle and she would adopt another one. This was completely off topic. Japanese, I have found, is releatively easy to speak (for an english speaker). Reading and writing it is a whole other matter.
  16. New people: Read this, say hi.

Yes we must. Hunt them down and kill them! Not you Stagg, you're fine. So far
  17. How are you guys? ...we're fine.

I remember when I was about 12 an Australian family, friends of my parents, came to stay. After a day or two of hanging out with their son I had to make a concious effort in order to not speak with an aussie accent. I also tend to inadvertently pick up accents if when I'm getting drunk with the locals while abroad. So far this han't got me into too much trouble.
  18. Glorious crap!

    Profound!
  19. Why so serious?

In the pub where I work, we were last night visited by the Joker, Two-Face, and Poison Ivy. OK Poison Ivy is not in the film but it was a good costume. Shame there was no Harley Quinn. I've always had a thing for Harley Quinn (hey that rhymed! It could be an awesome song!) I must see the film next week.
  20. PixelJunk Eden

It is pretty mindbending. I guess grappling hook is the best description. Find a youtube video of it if you can - it's very pretty.
  21. Where is everybody?

    Recent footage:
  22. Heh, Sounds like Kid Chameleon. I loved that game.
  23. Some new portal levels!

This is what they're including in Portal: Still Alive, correct?
  24. Avast, it be Thumb Island!

For the most part it does seem to be just a graphical chatroom But here and there I find little touches that suggest it could be more - like the way the TV screens can play Youtube videos.
  25. $t34md!

The answer is in there! Send an email to Gabe Newell! He'll fix up for you. Offer him dinner or something.
