  1. TF2 Guest Pass

I like him. He's fiesty. Let's keep him. I made it up. Sorry. You may want to crank your irony dial up to 11 while you are here Sincerity is not our strong point. Except Toblix. Sincerity is his strong point.

  3. TF2 Guest Pass

    Greetings. a/s/l/pd?
  4. Where is everyone?

Oh that what-man. I like the cosplay audition one best. Shame the Boy Marek wasn't in that one (unless he's in the box!)
  5. Busted! let me try; ó ó Óó óóóÓóÓÓóóóóÓÓ ú úíóÚúúúúúÁ nope I can't figure out a shorcut. Must be ASCII code. BTW I can't spell 'sausage'.
  6. Where is everyone?

    What's what-man? What?
  7. I think the underlying fear is that Heavy Rain will allow for very little freedom for the player (or even the illusion of freedom, since as you pointed out most games have less freedom than they seem to). As long as the gameplay feels like gameplay, then I'm fine with whatever form it takes. Compare it to the Metal Gear Solid 3 cutscenes maybe: during these you can move the camera around and zoom it in, and even sometimes go into first-person view for an in-joke or secret. At certain points there are even alternative scenes. They are definately interactive, but they don't feel like 'game'. There's an interesting question here that just occurred to me. Heavy Rain purports to have an interactive plot. That is certainly a kind of freedom that gamers rarely get given. But what if it turns out that this much-sought-after freedom turns out to be less satisfying than the smaller scale freedoms - being able to walk anywhere in the room or house for instance, at any time. Tactical freedom versus strategical freedom. I'm not saying this is the case, I'm just interested in finding out. I'm looking forward to Heavy Rain and will play it as soon as I get the chance; but like I said already, I'm a little apprehensive as well.
  8. Where is everyone?

    My PC is still broken
  9. Ahh the age of Multimedia Interactive Movies! I remember it well. We always knew the Mega-CD was ahead of it's time, eh?
  10. Carpal Tunnel Syndr-ow!

Yeah I thought of whitefinger, but I think those kind of vibration-related diseases are due to long-term exposure.

  12. MGS3: Fail? :(

Erm, I'm not sure how you're supposed to handle stature with LEGO people. Hah, just browsed the rest of the site. The Altair character and the Mass Effect Mako model are great!
  13. Call of Duty 4

We need a Twiki head smiley.
  14. She's a magical companion like Issun or Midna or countless others. Unusually for that type of character she is human-sized and shaped. I'm going to guess the plot here. The black corruption stuff is spreading throughout the land (secretly controlled by a Big Bad Guy) and only this one magical girl, probably the High Priestess, has the power to cleanse it. But she needs someone to defend her along the way which is where the Prince comes in. If they wanted to go for a fantasy setting they should have gone for inspiration to The Sandman story Ramadan, which is basically the world of 1001 Arabian Nights but on some magical happy powder.
  15. That does sound a lot better BigJKO. Still, I prefer a game where I can learn to control it instinctively, without thinking "now press triangle". Please remember that I was one of the people that stood up for Fahrenheit. . But here's hoping that the devs have taken some lessons from the story writing as well (no genre-skipping AI please).
  16. MGS3: Fail? :(

Yes, yes I could be bothered with the green facepaint. Dammit this game is like crack for completionist/explorer players like myself. Heh, more on the Bond thing; there's a post-save codec conversation where the Major goes off on one about Bond movies. Snake says he doesn't like them because they're not very realistic. also this: There's Twin Snakes as well!
  17. Hah, I thought exactly the same thing about the accent. It got annoying very quickly. Why can't we have a Prince of Persia with an Arabic accent? You'd think all the American consumer test-groups had turned out to be xenophobic or something. I like how the cell-shading is quite subtle though. Took me a minute to even notice it. Oh and another thing stolen from Okami: magical wave of plants rejuvenation! and not even as impressive. Yawn.
  18. Assassin's Creed

Ah, fair enough. Still, more elegance needed in the execution (pun intended).
  19. Assassin's Creed

'Killing without being noticed' doesn't mean sniping. Ideally it would mean poison. Or killing the target in their sleep, or when otherwise alone. That is after all what the Hashishim were famous for (leaving a knife under your pillow and that kind of thing). After playing various stealth/assassination games, the idea of a public stabbing seems completely devoid of elegance. You should seriously play Hitman: Blood Money. Awesome game.
  20. Yeah, they should have taken on board the Fahrenheit feedback that quicktime events alone do not a game make. If they had the shown the same footage but with 100% control of movement (using some incredible technology like, I dunno, analogue sticks) then this would probably be a fucking incredible game.
  21. Dawn of War 2 Cinematic

    More awesome:
  22. Dawn of War 2 Cinematic

We all knew it anyway, but I would just like to say: AWESOME!: Also the previous cinematic has now been extended by a few second to show a lovely Lictor attack (although the marine Seargent needs more evisceration).
  23. MGS3: Fail? :(

YES! Finally got the DPM uniform. Had to get the top score on all of the Special Duel fights. Man that was tough. I very nearly gave up. Can I be bothered to get the Green Facepaint from the normal duel mode? hmm. As for the Bond allusions, well there's the exotic settings, the women, the flirting with the women, the one-liners, the music, the gadgets (knockout gas hidden in cigarettes FTW) the scarred villains, the English colleagues, the theft of nuclear arms, underground lairs and factories. In fact given the existence of the tuxedo and many of the above in MGS1, I think it's a safe guess that Hideo Kojima always used Bond as an inspiration. It's just that in MGS3 the time period let him make it much more overt.
  24. Heh, they remind me of the description of the characters Brute and Glob in The Sandman comics: the embodiments of brute cunning and cunning brutality...
  25. Hehe, I like the Meet the Sandwich video
