Roflopolis.com - New blog <- ego post + Thumbs e3 video lure

Stick to a regular update schedule this time! That's the only thing a blog needs (well OK it's amongst the things that a blog needs). I've been musing over creating a blog called Crimes Against Fiction. Many times I have mused with Spaff and others about why we hate the Star Wars prequals, or the Pirates of the Carribbean sequals, or the Kevin J Anderson Dune novels, or lots of other things. I don't think a single essay would do my theories justice, so perhaps a blog would allow me to spread it out on a case-by-case basis. What do you guys think? Would you read that? Get involved even? Oh, it would also give me a platform to try an experiment I've been formulating: invite people to entirely rewrite the Star Wars universe, using only the original trilogy as canon. -
Want to bet they watched it twice to double-check and make notes about their outrage? Yufster, if Alkan hasn't learned the truth yet then you should move onto "read the first word of each line". With any luck his might actually explode.

Congratualtions! Downloading now.

Hahahah genius. Has he learned of the reference yet?

Is that masochiasm? Or is it Munchausen's Syndrome or something? In films it's always Munchausen's Syndrome by Proxy. Because no-one cares if a women is making herself ill (especially in Hollywood).

I'm glad to say that I have never accidentally a whole fleshlight.

Yeah that bit got me too

More 40K goodness: http://kotaku.com/5045678/first-warhammer-brawler-footage-looks-hot Looks like a pitch tape, so this is probably some way off. Looking good though.

From what I understand each phase does influence the next. For instance if you are a big spiky carnivore in the creature stage and play aggresively, then in the village and civ stages the other beings on your planet will be scared of you and be very defensive and uncooperative. I have a feeling the Spore will have some initial dissappointment, but then paradoxically turn out to be a slow-burner. Fingers crossed.

Might just be a matter of taste. I much prefer MGS3, obviously. The Sons of Liberty plot felt overly contrived to me. I agree that The Cobras feel a bit tacked on at first. But when you start to think about what they represent, they gain some pathos. In a way they are all extensions of The Boss, each emotion that they "carry" form her world-view, and as they die they take her whole era with them.

Fine whatever. My point still stands.

Indeed it does. And the Totoro gallery is full of gorgeousness

OK, but that's not their only game. I was thinking more of the GTAIII series and Bully.

The misgiving I have about the new videos is that looks so obviously based on the Oblivion engine. A lot of people were scared that it would be too much like Oblivion, and right now it looks like they were right. Maybe it's just the Bethesda art and animation guys. I mean the faces look better than the Oblivion freaks, but their facial expressions are still all wrong. And the whole body animations still suck too - even the ragdolls. How can you make ragdolls look wrong? But they do. It's a pet peeve of mine maybe. If you look at Rockstar games, they make low-poly models look great by having very good animation. bethesda make high-poly models look shit the instant they move. Ahem. Rant over. I'm still hoping the game itself will be fun.

Yes they do! Also I think if Little Jacob likes you enough he will sell you weapons out of the boot of his car. Free delivery! Telling the cabby to step on it always has hilarious results

OK, that Sonic one is seriously scary. Bunchies is always scary...

I envy you. Starting college is thoroughly fantastic experience.

Please rephrase the question.

Heh, watch the review of Braid for your answer.

Yeah I enjoyed it too. I also prefer the folklore stuff to the demon stuff from the first film. The end did feel a bit... lost maybe. It was fun to see an elf kicking ass (that wasn't Orlando Bloom). Best line about a sixpack of beer: "It's the last one!"

Awww. That's why we're talking about video games!

I also noticed this while playing. I guess it's safe to say that it is a genuine niggle

That was a good one. I especially loved the berrating of the game-buying public at the beginning (especially Adrian).
