  1. GET THE FUCK ON GTA NOW

Ahem, I think you'll find that this belongs in the Multiplayer Networking subforum, if you please... ...ahahaha just tweaking your stamen or what have you. Have fun!
  2. Tomb Raider: Underworld

    It's a feature.
  3. How...?! (Guitar Hero viral ad)

No! It was Karimi! I knew it ended with an "i"!
  4. How...?! (Guitar Hero viral ad)

Not to us, but seen through the yes of a newcomer folks with insane postcounts and the full weight of the collective behind them are probably quite scary when they disagree with you so strongly. I'm not saying don't disagree, I'm just saying, to the oldtimers, bear in mind the newbies will find you quite intimidating, although they'd never admit it. Even a single "fuck" can be searing. This is why The Guide recommends giving your nerves time to become deadened. Wait a minute, I can't find Nappi's guide to the forums! No wonder there are issues!
  5. In a surprise ending the Galactica is destroyed, but Adama builds a lifesize replica out of matchsticks in order to get them to a new colony. Unfortunately he smashes it in a fit of pain and rage.
  6. My only complaint is that there was too much old footage in it.
  7. Minotaur China Shop

I loved Flashbang. I want to have their scaly, animal-headed, rocket-propelled children.
  8. ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭‮Mirror's Edge

I might have said this already, but I too was hoping that the story would be as fresh and minimalist as the art style. And yes it did have that cyberpunk-esque commentary on 'the system' built into it's city. I'm dissapointed to find out they completely failed to see the potential of what they had.
  9. Fuck Metacritic

Heh, I knew I'd had the idea implanted from somewhere. I also thought of film reviews (most film reviews seem to use the four-star system now), but the Mitchelin star system seemed even more, I dunno, pure to me. You could, of course. But the thing about Mitchelin stars is that even just one is an accolade. For many people it is a lifetime achievement (although it would probably be a bit more common in a games situation). Translating it to, say, a logarythmic scale, would be awkward and most likely lose useful information for the reader. heh, after reading the old thread linked in the comments to Wrestle's blog post (wow... convoluted), I saw my previous suggestion. That could still work, I think, only call them "achievements". This game has unlocked the 'Fun with Friends' achievement. And so on. Genius!
  10. Fuck Metacritic

I think something akin to the Mitchelin stars system would be the best approach. i.e.: 1 star = definately worth a look if you're passing by 2 star = worth making a detour for, very good 3 star = worth planning a whole trip for the sole sake of paying a visit. (no stars = no comment, effectively. Not bad just... not incredibly noteworthy) Frankly this is how I think about games anyway. Either something is an absolute must-buy and play; something I seriously consider buying if I have the money to hand; or something that I would very much like to play if the opportunity arises. And the rest, which I don't plan for but are occasionally good but often dissapointing. It's not about the absolute quality of the game, it's about how much effort you should put into playing it ASAP.
  11. Fuck it

Don't worry, it will only take a few years to put this unpleasant episode behind you... BTW what is your new password? ... just testing
  12. Avast, it be Thumb Island!

Oh yeah, this thing. Official blog post here. "Not looking so Lively"
  13. Dr Who christmas special

These early notes on the conception of Dr Who are interesting though.
  14. Little BIG Planet

With an apology I damn well hope!
  15. Fallout 3

I had the same thought, but my experience was the same as yours. Occasionally I would come across named raiders, who I assume were their leaders as they often had a key to the safe or whatever. So perhaps some tough enemies are just named. Or maybe they are targets for the contract killer perk, which I never took (I took lawbringer instead, the background of which was a minor dissapointment).
  16. You again! Always there to out-pedant me! Grrr. You are my nemesis; Ultra-Pedant to my mere Super-Pedant. I'm not saying we pronounce the 'O'; that is still silent. Just that the 'L' is slightly more discernable than in 'kernal'.
  17. These ideas sound very consolvevania-ish. I heartily approve
  18. Fallout 3

Oh man I missed that bit with the scientist. I did find an Ant Queen somewhere else entirely though. That's the thing about the game. You are almost garunteed to come at some quests 'sideways', and play them as if they were just random encounters. Which is kind of cool. But also slightly maddening for a completionist like me. For instance, the best weapon (for my stats) that I found in the game - the xaunlong assault rifle, which I guess is unique because I never saw another one - was on the mangled remains of a named NPC. I never even knew who the guy was.
  19. Ah, I guess I missed those. I enjoyed the rest of the episode very muchly. Oh yeah - and since the readerletter was sent from Australia, the author will in fact be enjoying his Christmas this summer - Jake was accidentally correct
  20. Little BIG Planet

Lots of anger this weekend about the Azure Palace level being blocked for no dicernable reason (best bet seems that griefers reported it leading to an automatic block by Sony). Seems to have put a lot of people off the game.
  21. Hmm, in British English soldered is pronounced with a soft 'L'. Same goes for Colonel (as opposed to the american pronunciation 'kernal'). I gues the L is almost imperceptable and so would dissappear easily in the American. halfway through, good stuff. You should add Halo MMO to the list of games discussed I think I'm the only person on the internet that liked the concept art that got posted after cancellation, and actually recognised it as early comncept art that would be unlikely to make it into the game; ie it was just the artists 'shooting the shit' kind of thing. So many people couldn't grasp that concept "no no if they drew it then it must have been intended for the game...". Morons
  22. The guys were very modest in the interview about Plain Sight. Fact is every time I walked past there were tonnes of people round it, it seemed like the most popular game in the indie arcade. When I finally got to have a go at the end of Day 1, I was soundly thrashed by a bunch of teenagers who has clearly been playing all afternoon.
