Thanks for the invite Cigol! I'm still waiting on the system to send me my third (and hopefully final) authentication number. That's one incredibly drawn-out registration process they got there. Apprently there's a problem and I should try again later

I always imagine the word "Amiga" to be sung to the tune of Leader of the Pack...

Idle Thumbs 15: I'll Kill the Last Alien
DanJW replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I just listened to most of their most recent podcast. I skipped a lot though, because, well because it's boring. They don't have an awful lot to say, and they take 60 minutes to say it. The main guy actually sounds OK. But his henchman, the 'number 2', comes across as a typical little jerk. He's the one who thinks himself to be hilarious with the nasal laugh that Chris sampled, and he seems to like ripping into geeks and gamers to make himself sound more manly - interesting for a game podcast. So yeah. I'll give one or two previous episodes a go, as maybe they just had an off-week. But I doubt it. -

From the clip you included, and from their own comment threads and NeoGAF posts, Tapezilla certainly sound like dicks. Anyone actually listened to their podcast though? I plan on checking it out tonight. You know, once no-one else is within earshot. -
Her eyes are so huge and dark and sparkly! I must have them.

So, er, Chris. What were you going to say about Portal? Something about the two-act structure and implied rather than explicit storyline maybe? I actually do really want to know. -

When it's 7am there, it is next wednesday here... I think the reason for more than 24 timezones is because some of them are at different latitudes (for instance Daylight Savings Time, which isn't needed near the equator).

And then me, after Miffy

REally? You don't remember the secret war trials episode? The only reason Gaeta didn't wind up getting spaced was because of his role as informant. It was also alluded to in the recent webisodes. But yeah all the characters have seemed very confused for a while now. Something needs simplifying. Maybe when Caville catches up with them they can concentrate on just surviving again.

I actually enjoyed season 3.. although I'm not sure why. I think the biggest problem was the writers apparent inability to commit to anything. Some crazy twist happens, and then the next episode it gets replaced by a new twist. Major characters come and go. Powers change and unchange and something that might have been of deep importance never gets mentioned again. After a while you stop caring. It's like the show has Attention Deficit Disorder. But for some reason I still enjoyed it

Hahaha worst refusal to participate in a discussion ever. You know it really doesn't work if you keep coming back for a 'one more thing'.

I watched the webisodes on youtube before the actual episode. I was glad that Gaiter's perjury came back to bite him on the ass, at least metaphysically. So the 13th tribe were cylons. We all pretty much guessed that (now we just need the clincher - that all of humanity's ancestors were cylons). No-one in the show has asked the obvious question yet: How were they cylons, when modern Cylons were invented less than a century ago? I guess everyone will have to skirt around it until the plot demands it be answered (unless you count that handwaving about them coincidentally going through the same pattern of war as the other colonies.. just much earlier). I wouldn't have guessed Ellen Tigh at all. Has she been downloaded somewhere? And what about the flashback where she said they would be reborn... (presumably on Caprica). My current guess: Every human womb is a mini 'resurrection ship', designed to reincarnate 13th tribe cylons. Or something. I'm still having trouble seeing how Starbuck is not a cylon though. Any guesses on the dead body and destroyed raptor?

Hah! So what you are saying is that Pascal's Wager logically recommends joining a polytheistic religion - they have more gods, so statistically they are more likely to have a god that exists. It's like betting on red rather than number 12. Hinduism here I come!

So we have 'proof' that two different people are the fifth. Unless they were the same model but one was older than the other. Can't wait to find out. also:

Yeah, just because atheism has a name, doesn't make it a grouping. In the Venn diagram of religions, atheism is the area off the paper. It's dumb to say you are not an atheist when that is what you are. Don't let other people's misconceptions control your terminology. There are groups of atheists that are considering the benefits of forming groups and communities, but they would never call themselves just 'atheists'. They'll probably go for something acronymical (cool word huh?)

With the three different character with different abilities, my first guess would be something along the lines of Lost Vikings. So a win then.

There's a UK sitcom called Not Going Out. It has that same old-school studio-produced live-audience cringeworthy sitcom thing about it, but it also has excellent writing in the form of very, very funny one-liners and put-downs. It's mostly a vehicle for Lee Mack.
