Maybe. Anyway yeah that was perhaps the most common complaint about the endgame.

Idle Thumbs sent people video games, and they took pictures

Because he took a photo of himself in the mirror? Or maybe he is from parallel mirror dimension. Congrats on your wins guys, if you are reading this. -

American McGee's Alice 2! Or the Return of...they don't know.

Reading the thread would tell you that people liked Scrapland. And I don't think Grimm was bad per se, just a bit simple. Alice was a fairly simple shooter underneath (courtesy of the Quake 2 engine), but the strength of its vision made it great. It was like the best Total Conversion ever. I look forward to seeing what they can do with a custom engine and mechanics that are created specifically for the story. -
...mozerella...parmesan...wenslydale... No, I've run out of puns, and it's left me feeling a bit blue. Oh dear. At least now I have leicester worry about

Surely very few people will pass this up, yfenni.

Yeah it's a bit odd. It also seems that cylons are programmed to reproduce only in monogamous relationships - I mean it's clear to me that Sol Tigh loves both Caprica and Ellen, but he's only allowed to love Caprica exclusively if she's to have the baby. A bit troubling to me personally, given the complexity of human relationships.

Ahahah I'd love a game that had a different game design horror for each circle of hell. When I say love, I obviously mean, hate. 5th circle: terrible voice acting. Maybe we should make it, collaboratively. Like the podcast guys pointed out, Dante's Inferno is public domain, right?

Ah yes. Timaste you reminded me of something that occurred to me during whilst listening to week's podcast. You see, action RPG's (and maybe even all isometric RPGs) are actually derived from RTS. We classify them as two separate genres now and so the idea seems absurd. But think about where they came from - for instance the first Diablo game grew out of the Warcraft engine. In all their mechanics they have so much in common. Even turn based RPG's have much in common with turn-based Strategy games. The only difference is the scale and the subject, and the level design, if you will. This has been my theory for a while but people tend to just stare at me like I'm mad when I bring it up.

Nice use of smoke effects, although I'd be very surprised if those make into the actual game engine. Impressive if they do. It's still a wretched use of the IP though.

My cylon god, Ellen really got stuck right back in with the conniving and Tigh manipulation didn't she? I felt really sorry for Caprica Six Also I just remembered something cool about last week; Anders speech problems and secret-knowledge-spouting made him sound eerily like the cylon hybrids... Also in the latest episode are a couple of almost throwaway remarks that could be hints: Starbuck says that seeing the Tighs reunited was "like watching my parents kiss" - adds weight to the 'child of a cylon' theory (maybe she is Hera travelled back in time!!!!111111). Secondly when Sol mentioned making up the cylon god Ellen replied "we didn't make up anything" - further suggesting that the cylon god is an actual entity that we will see explained. Gosh there's not many episodes left are there? I guess there will be one big showdown versus Caville, one big reveal of the hidden machinations driving the whole thing, and then one big new-home-planet-get. Possibly all at once.

This Kotaku comment made me giggle:

I'm only using spring-mounted chairs from now on... -
Ahhg I've had Leaving on a Jet plane by Jefforson Airplane stuck in my head for about 12 hours now. I went to sleep with it in my head, and it's still here this morning. I think it was in my (heavily Left 4 Dead influenced) dreams too. I haven't even heard it lately!

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth [Old game playthrough]
DanJW replied to nonamermcgee's topic in Video Gaming
Hmm, I didn't play this at the time as I was told it was a bit disappointing. I may have to look into it now. Is it on steam? I still have an unplayed copy of Prisoner of the Ice around somewhere too (Cthulu mythos point-n-click adventure). -
This thread reminds me of how great the ending of RE4 is. Epic! Orgasmic even. Anyway yeah.

No, still locked to Normal. Metallus, all that makes sense to me and is petty much what I'd figured out. But it almost never seems to work in practice. Whilst discussing this with Nick, he also pointed out that 50% of servers seem to be a close-nit team of four mates, trouncing an opposing team of randoms. Even with good communication, four randoms can't beat a team that have completed the game on expert together. The lack of a favourites bar for servers also means you can't easily go back someplace where you liked the settings and clientèle. edit: oh and another thing. As it stands the infected have to work really hard in order to win, but the entire tone of the game suggests that it should be the other way round and it should be the survivors that have to work hard - just liek it is in the co-op campaigns.
-
Been playing a bit of random Vs mode today, and it seems like there's some holes in the gameplay. It's very easy for the survivors to just run for it, and it's very difficult for the infected to keep up with them if they do. There's not enough generic horde about to slow them down enough, and since the key to playing as infected seems to be patience, this is a problem. Secondly, I remember hearing about Valve tweaking the melee ability because it was too good. Well... it still seems too good. There are teams of survivors that all spam melee and it creates a buffer zone around them that is impossible to penetrate - especially so if you spawn as a hunter or a boomer. So yeah, random public versus-mode games are rarely fun - about 1 game in 10 is enjoyable and balanced. I have higher hopes for playing with Thumbs friends though.

Now now, no fightong back there. Return to your seats. Although I should like to point out that it was in fact a one and a half hour rant about topics that are interesting and annoying
