Now and again I get a craving to play a superhero game, to the point where I've considered resubscribing to City of Heroes (been dissuaded by close friends each time). Freedom Force has occasionally popped up on my radar at these times. The Freedom Pack is £4.50 for UK. Bought.

Yeah it's really nice when the psychodelia appears. Shame the in-game graphics are nothing like that, from what we've seen (I don't like their 3D models).

Yes! I would love to be constantly reminded of that fucking awful moment that completely destroyed the mystique of Yoda and the whole of Star Wars by extension!

I'd be surprised if they told us everything about it a year in advance. they are probably keeping one or two big reveals back. Vehicle sections maybe, or AI civilians (there to be eaten). It does sound as though the panic events will be more varied, so the actual level design may well be turned up a couple of notches too.

It does seem like a very quick turnaround, and I would have liked a bit more time with the first L4D. But Doug Lambardi explains the Valve position well in this interview with RPS.

Yeah but if idiot people want to metagame rather than actually enjoy the thing, they will always find a way to do that.

Apparently the demo at E3 included the Smuggler class for the Republic faction (basically the scoundrel from previous games). One of the class features is use of a cover system. I'd put money on the fourth class type being a pet-class, eg republic engineers with droids as pets.

Don't forget the 'small unintelligible droid' class, and 'angsty teen' class.

Is this based on anything, or is it the aforementioned pessimistic speculation and/or your arse? Anway here's some actual gameplay description, from RPS. This particular choice seems on the obvious side, but not as bad as your sarcastic fabrication.

Whinge whinge moan moan. People are always complaining about the weak narrative in MMO's - and now that Bioware are addressing exactly that, folks suddenly decide it is a bad thing that shouldn't even be attempted. Forgive me if I don't give a fuck about your pessimistic speculations. Let's wait for some solid gameplay details, and in the meantime enjoy the awesomeness. The trailer is very nice indeed, and it brought my attention to the trooper class, whose announcement I missed.

I was going to go and see Coraline today, but the local cinema only has it showing once or twice a day at stupid kid-friendly times. Let The Right One In is as good as everyone says. It requires a smidgen of patience, at least if you are the of hollywood-blockbuster-explosion-loving type, or go in expecting a conventional horror movie. I also saw and enjoyed In Bruges. It struck me how both these films are interesting in their amorality. Although the protagonists do bad things (and are, when you get down to it, bad people), the wrongness or rightness of their actions is not really judged or examined in any way, and we end up liking and rooting for them. The focus is on personal stories rather than good vs evil, and it makes these films feel really refreshing.

I'm only just getting out of a long period of such paralysis. My advice is to write about something that doesn't matter, something fun, and something which you have no intention of letting other people see. If you have ever considered fanfic, now is the time... Just make sure it is something you enjoy writing. After a while on that, the "proper" writing won't seem such a hurdle.

Ooh! I used to know this. 'Shi' is used for pure numbers, like counting from 1-10 and mathematics and dates and stuff. 'Yon' is used when you are counting objects, or actions, ie something non-abstract. Might be similar for nana/sutchi (7). I was also once told that 'Shi' sounds like the word for death or something unlucky and so is sometimes avoided for that reason. Don't know if that's true.

Hope you had a great birthday Mr Peel!

Since when does "no less" mean "more"? edit: oh, maybe the word moreish doesn't get much use over there. Over here it means it leaves you wanting more.
-
Haha, I'm pretty sure he means in the first sense. It is possible that Team Ico are using terrain from Ico and SotC to test their new mechanics. Also things like shaders that bland the creatures into the world more tend to added later in development.

Yeah, I thought as much. But it's definitely a gryphon chick.
