  1. Best game credit roll/sequence

I really liked the credits of Metal Gear Solid 3. Not because there is anything all that special with the credits themselves - they are done in standard cinematic fashion - but because of the choice of song playing over them. Matches the emotional ending of the game perfectly. I came close to shedding a tear. Max Payne 2 has a , not quite as good, but with snippets of the end song worked into the game (characters whistling it, singing i in the shower etc.Sometimes the standard white-on-black credits crawl along with a good choice of music is the perfect end to a movie or game. It gives you a chance to relax and absorb and reflect on the experience as a whole.
  2. Moon

DAMMIT I really want to see Moon, but none of the cinemas in Brighton are showing it. Fuck you cinemas, fuck youuuuuuuuuuuu!
  3. I finished The Dig, and enjoyed it thoroughly. It was shorter and less difficult than I remember (I never finished it back in the day). I only needed to look up tips a couple of times (a pixel-hunt that I missed and... yes the bone puzzle, although I was pretty close with the bone puzzle). It really does have a nice atmosphere and cinematic quality. I wish there were more things like it. Might give LOOM a go next.
  4. Left 4 Thumbs

Unless they are nearby and you are trying to hide - crouching also triggers the hunter's growl sfx, which is a dead giveaway if the survivors can hear it. Took me a while to get the hang of playing infected, but now it might be my favourite part of the game. Patience and timing are the key.
  5. Left 4 Thumbs

We eventually got a full house in the versus game, so all worked out. We lost a couple of people to crashes and stuff on the last map; still lots of fun though.
  6. Little Big Planet

Yeah, even just being able to use a mouse would make a big difference. I dunno, we'll have to ask Spaff. Spaff! Where are you?
  7. Dantes Inferno trailer

They keep using the word 'disturbing' (also 'interesting' and 'thought provoking'). Maybe if you're 12. Sorry, but it looks pretty old hat. Maybe they did have concept artists drawing Freudian nightmares, but clearly non of that made it into the game, for business reasons. Oh, great 'translation' of verse by the way
  8. Mass Effect 2

Yeah, you're not so much free to make decisions, as you are free to choose your own motivations and attitudes. I liked that, since in most games actual choice is an illusion anyway, and often the character motivations and attitudes don't make as much sense.
  9. http://twitter.com/lucasartsgames/status/2540964479 Already fixed it seems. Yay! Gonna play it a bit before bed.
  10. Bought The Dig. The installation is broken. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=914252 http://twitter.com/lucasartsgames/status/2537592282 Well done LFI or whatever the fuck you're called now. Sigh.
  11. How do TVs work?

hm, sounds like the surge protector didn't entirely work, and a power surge has wiped the box's memory. That's my guess anyway.
  12. Mass Effect 2

I have to agree about the character aspects. I think the game hit a perfect balance between Japanese RPG 'pre-rendered' player-character and western RPG 'blank slate' player-character. No silent protagonist problems, no unbelievable interactions, no disassociation. As blackboxme said, Shepherd really fits into the world just s much as the NPCs, but while still giving you control of him/her. Excellent dialogue scenes help this. So yeah, I'd say it was groundbreaking in terms of game dialogue presentation and systems. Other areas were more flawed. I recommend playing female renegade by the way, for the best voice acting, drama and internal logic.
  13. Hm. No-one is forcing you to buy these. There's even a small chance that you will be able to enter your old serial numbers in order to get the new download versions (a very small chance, but it happens sometimes).
  14. Tales of Monkey Island

When I first played MI2 I got the impression that both worlds existed - the pirate world and the fairground world. Each is real when you are in it, and the nature of the other is subjective. But yeah having the pirate world be not real is only a step away from "it was a all a dream" and kinda devalues the whole thing. I'm pretty sure any hypothetical third game would have had to find some way to return to the pirate world as status quo.

  16. Is that a young Pat Sharpe?
  17. Movie/TV recommendations

Yeah, it's pretty enjoyable. The criticism is against the structure - the second half of the film feels tacked on and jerks suddenly out of the much more interesting aspects of the early parts. It feels almost like two films welded together, which apparently is what happened (can't give a source for that though).
  18. The king is dead!

yeah I felt the same way. I don't really feel sad, I didn't know the guy; but it is strange that the first popstar I was even aware of, the person that gave me the concept of pop music when I was a kid, is now gone.
  19. Left 4 Thumbs

    - infected bites - dead survivors rising from the grave as powerful undead! (Dead Survivors is an awesome oxymoron that this game has made possible!)
  20. Books, books, books...

The good thing about the ending is not the plot but the reactions of the characters. Watchmen is, first and foremost, a series of character studies.

  22. It's along the same lines as Puyo-Pop and Puzzle Bobble. So simple at first then shading to fiendish and addictive later.

  24. 1-in-4 men in South Africa are rapists...

The reverse might also be true - if rape is seen as macho cred, some might say they have when in fact they haven't. Of course this is probably just wishful thinking on my part.

    Not wrong, just 'differently right'.
