Well done for not using the phrase "get out there more". I am starting to loathe those words. So incredibly trite.

Hahaah we definitely need an Idle Thumbs Survivor's Support Group. Maybe we should just rename this subforum to that. Or possibly 'Idle Widows'.

That's unfortunate, but not actually anything to do with this game Are there any third party PS3 compatible controllers?

I enjoy Kings recent moves towards more Lovecraftian cosmic horror. There seems to be a few books and short stories that follow a similar premise, but they are all different in the way they are constructed. They are: The Mist, From a Buick 8, Room 1408, Lisey's Story and Duma Key. They are quite refreshing in their vividness and make a nice break from the suspense thrillers and modernised gothic horrors.

Absolutely, positively, Not Safe For Work Not quite sure what to make of it myself. Is it clever, or just crude? 9WPNhlzGoM0 That fox and cat are wonderful. Tame foxes? Are they related to the Siberian selective breeding experiments at all?

Here's one for all Ubergeeks: DriveThru RGP Online Store has Haiti charity relief bundle! For a $20 donation you get $1000 of PDFs to download. whoah. A lot of amateur tat in there obviously, but also a silly amount of good stuff. And it's for Haiti. Here's what I'll be downloading first. 3:16 award winning military scifi: 'Starship Troopers... with pathos' Trail of Cthulu Players guide.: reworking of Call of Cthulu, using the excellent GUMSHOE sleuthing system. Serenity RPG: because... yeah. Shaolin Squirrels: Nuts of fury. I have no idea what this is but the title made me giggle. Silly. Labyrinths and Lycanthropes: very funny and quite clever parody of original D&D. Chronica Feudalis: historical Age of Chivalry game. Did the homework, then made it fun. Oh and at least one zombie apocalypse game. Dunno which one yet. And I expect there are some more gems hiding in there too. Don't think about it, just donate damn it.

I was hoping to pick it up at a cut price over Christmas, but I think the discount was pretty measly and I didn't. But I want it even more now that they have added my favourite team - Dark Elves FTW!

In the horrible brainwashing job I was doing in December, a manager giving one one of the 'morning meetings' (actually just pep talks and sales pitches aimed at the reps) was talking about progress or some rubbish. He actually used film as a metaphor (they loved their metaphors) saying "no-one watches black and white films any more right?". The levels of ignorance and cultural desolation routinely displayed was just one reason why I had to get out.

Mighty Boosh. Watch it.

That's kinda what I was going to say. But your post is longer. And better. Also I really like character studies. People hate the plot in certain books and films, for instance Watchmen - I don't care because it is actually a series of character studies. The plot is just a wire frame to hang them on. Same with Moon. Here we have the same man, before and after spending 3 years in solitude.

True. I would have made the hypothetical game a Japanese RPG. Moby would be a flying winged whale, on a backdrop of floating islands in the sky. Ahab would of course be a beaming androgynous teenager with blue hair.

Why stick to just one philosopher? I have always liked the title 'Being and Nothingness', for instance.

Left Good & Evil Way Behind Cannot Poke Good & Evil With a Long Stick Heard About Good & Evil But Never Seen It (sadly and ironically most players' experience) Pisses All Over Good & Evil

There is if you enable the dev console. Here's a page on the most helpful Torchlight wiki: http://en.runicgamesfansite.com/rgwiki/index.php?title=Console Sending the pet back to town has proved pretty helpful with the masses of loot. Although at higher levels I only pick up magic items. Hack n Slash is definitely a bubble-popping kind of fun, although I've found in its best parts Torchlight does have some tactics coming into play - like running around to get the monsters to stand in a line, so I can blast them with all at once with an ice javelin or ember beam (gotta love the ember beam). The real addictive qualities come with advancement though - you are always just shy of a new level or a new piece of awesome equipment... and then once you get them you just have to go and try them out... and then you are just shy of the next thing again...

Jesus Christ using tits and ass to sell your fucking games

Now when I see this thread title it makes me think it is directed at Jesus Christ. Like Jesus is making games and then using his tits and ass to sell them. "Imagine: Dating Jesus", or something. I dunno. -

BBC News: Having a big bum, hips and thighs 'is healthy' But seriously... yeah, I agree with you. It's getting fucking tiresome. -
In fairness I'd say it's the other way round. Most idiots are vocal. Actually I'm not sure. Could be either.

Good suggestion, but also by Matt Uelmen. My internet went down while I was playing, so winamp moved through my mp3 library onto the Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines soundtrack, which randomly happened to be there. Turns out that gothic-industrial music also works well, although results in a bit too much adrenaline if it suddenly comes on while fighting several bosses at once.

Just use the ID tag from the youtube video, not the whole link. Unintuitive I know. After the = sign. eg grKaSsyvxZE Carry on.

Congratulations on a fantastic game, Liquid. It feels like real, honest-to-goodness PC game. I think Chris said something similar in the podcast. Meanwhile... the music in Torchlight is of course excellent, but when I need a break from it (after around 25 hours or so) I have found that listening to a blues-rock internet radio station fits surprisingly well. It lends the game a nice post-modern aesthetic that oddly compliments the victoriana and steampunk stuff. Any other good matches that people have discovered?

In related news: I recently got around to finally playing Blue Shift, courtesy of Steam. Man that is one boring expansion. Very short, nothing all that interesting in the way of puzzles or locations and the climax... well there isn't one. Opposing Force on the other hand is great stuff, despite the shoehorn used on the alien backstory.
