Are you suggesting that Yufster's first step towards her personal perfection would be to have a sex change operation?
  2. Pokémon Diamond / Pearl

Use a biro and write "swarm of" before the pokemon's name. Then trade for Magic.
  3. Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars™

Castorp, yeah that's what all hints I read said, but there must be something wrong with me because I couldn't see the animation begin with time to get out the way - it processed too quickly. Anyway I beat it in the end. Strangely I found the middle "protection" section easier. Thrik, I would but I sent mid-level sub-boss out for pizza. Is it here yet?

Love is not only blind, it's really dumb too!
  5. Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars™

AHGHGHGHGHGH I got through God of War with very few of those annoying moments - whenever it felt like it was getting close, I finally beat that section. Until the end. The final stage of the final boss. He has an unblockable attack, which stuns you and lets him follow up with a whole punch of powerful combos. What am I meant to do about that exactly? It feels like playing Street Fighter II against one of those players who just spams the same unavoidable combo. Fucksake. I was planning on playing the game through again on God Dificulty to get all the extras, but knowing that Ares and his unblockable spam fist are waiting for me at the end will take all the fun out of it. Well done whichever arsehole designed that.

    What's your point?
  7. Pokémon Diamond / Pearl

This thread feels like a school playground. It scares me. What the.. there's one called shroomish? That's... not right...
  8. Pokémon Diamond / Pearl

Aussie Ben, your edit beat me to it. Now I know how I must sound like to non-gamers
  9. "fun" games on 360

Ah Bullet Witch. It's big and it's stupid. It is generally cheesy/serious in tone, but the enemies are often comical - not just the floating brain guys who hum to themselves but also one liners spoken by the regular cannon-fodder - like shouting "mummy!" as they get blown apart. Also there is a boss that is some kind of gigantic dragon/whale that you fight while runing about on top of a passenger jet in-flight during a storm, while also fighting off its giant eyeball minions. This tells you most of what you need to know about the game. I particularly enjoyed summoning a tornado and watching it rip apart the buildings and other scenery. Also summoning a flock of ravens to peck out the eyes of my enemies. Like I said, big and stupid.

Lego Star Wars is great - playing co-op. Playing by yourself it may well be plain and monotonous.
  12. Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars™

Yeah I think it was the wall of blades and spinny blade bridges. Of course it's possible that Spaff is just rubbish at those bits
  13. Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars™

Heh, we decided on some new gaming terminology last week, when Spaff got to an "oh just fuck off" level in God of War. What you are referring to, in fact, is when it all goes totally meat circus. I'm all for games having an exciting difficulty curve, but so many of those curves are interrupted by a sudden vertical line. From my first hand experiences of game designers it is usually down to one single designer who thinks he is god's gift to gaming, whose superiors are too scared to reign him in. He is under the impression that if you cannot complete his level and love it, then you do not deserve to own the game.
  14. Why I hate you, and the internet

It took me a moment there to realise that you were talking about doing these things in-game.
  15. Spaff's Party Dress

This is how you spend your weekends is it?
  16. Wii number exchange

If I had a prize, I would give it to you. (edit: give you the prize that is).
  17. Oh wait, there's more! British tabloids (and probably US ones too) are linking the actions to the film Oldboy. Why? Because it has guns in it and it's Korean! Of course! The Daily Mail hilariously compares a shot of the film with a shot from Cho's video. Of course, it's possible that there are only so many ways of holding a gun to your own head, but in this case the similarity is clearly conclusive!!!!!!!!!! I feel like punching a reporter now. Hey, if Russel Crow can do it...
  18. Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence

Did you try changing the camera mode like I suggested? And yeah I never got to like the wall-hugging. The trick to this game is using camouflage to hide in plain sight. When you're in the tall grass you can use both shoulder buttons to poke your head up above it and then FP mode to look around.
  19. Movie/TV recommendations

I enjoyed 300. It was pretty much exactly what I expected. Maybe a tad more philosophical about the violence (only a tad, mind). I only wish we had been shown the elephant fight properly. I mean, it's in the game (not that it's any good in the game, but it's there).
  20. THE END OF GAMELIFE?!?!?

Aren't they all slightly (with the exception of the female who merely has a necrophilia-play fetish and dubious relationships with older men)?
  21. Lionhead's The Movies for £1.97 delivered!

I agree, except on the capability of the moviemaker. I felt it was a bit too restrictive, but apparently that has been fixed somewhat in the expansion pack.
  22. Why I hate you, and the internet

To be fair Tantrum, the first line quoted in that article is horrible tabloid rhetoric. Programming people! Brain-washing! Oh noes! Why can't we brain-wash them to be nice instead? So I can see why destructoid readers reacted badly to it. then again, who cares about Destructoid?
  23. Will the State of Virginia help Thompson do you think? After: quoted in this article Also, I'm not sure it's in very good taste for the news services to publish the killer's videos. I haven't seen them yet, not sure I want to.
  24. THE END OF GAMELIFE?!?!?

My theory is that he was just trying to review Manhunt 2 and the slightly garbled result was misunderstood.
  25. Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence

Yeah, the controls can take a bit of getting used to, but once you do they're awsome. You could always try setting the camera to the original snake-eater mode - the chase cam was introduced in subsistance. Most of the controls in the game are pressure sensitive, so if you press too hard when you capture a guy you will indeed slit his throat. This can also catch you when training a gun on someone... press too hard and you can fire by accident. I loved the tension in this though, it gives the feeling of actually resting your finger on a hair trigger. But you could always just crawl past him - it is a stealth game you know There is plenty of variety within that though, if you want to you can go in guns blazing (although your life expectancy drops dramatically if you do that). edit: whatever you do keep playing through the initial frustration, because it really is an amazing game.
