It's absolutely hilarious to me that the american macho dream has recently - and inevitably - morphed into a wave of homoerotica. Gears of War, 300, large portions of the Hip Hop scene... it's all about appreciation of the male figure by other males. And everyone is pretty much Ok with it. This makes me happy, optimistic and also prone to fits of laughter. But yeah GoW is overhyped, just as Halo was and is. Since consoles are inherently badly designed for FPS, any FPS whose mechanics are better tuned to the platform will always attract mass glee (mostly from teens who never played, for instance, Quake).

Oh, wow. That was horrible. The motion blur filter was particularly nasty. The whole thing felt like watching a really bad student film - you know the type where you feel proxy embarassment from just being in the same room that it's playing?

Yeah, at least have the logic to invent something, like "what Pandora didn't know was that there was a second box". Also "all the world's ills" translating into "monster animals for you to kill" is exactly the kind of shortsightedness that people complain about in the industry as a whole.

Don't worry, PS2 is probably the worst console for FPS. It excels at 3D action like God of War or Tomb Raider though. Oh, TR Legends and Anniversary are probably a good bet, although I haven't played them myself.
