  1. Futurama's Return: Bender's Big Fail

I don't hate it, I just don't love it nearly as much as I thought I would, it being Futurama.
  2. Mass Effect

Haha, space opera is like fantasy. Most writers get carried away with the possibilities. It would be great to have a plot more akin to those in Firefly, where most things happen on a much more personal level (disregarding the Serenity movie).
  3. Call of Duty 4

Hmm, CoD3 is the only one I have played much, but I really enjoyed the final defensive mission in that. Defending each point for as long as possible before having to fall back to the next one was a real rush and had lots of nice drama. The mission you described above really does sound like a pain in the arse though.
  4. Futurama's Return: Bender's Big Fail

Yeah, I agree with Duncan, the jokes were really lacking and contained no bite at all. Near the beginning they go to a nude beach planet, and do they use the opportunity to play on american attitudes to nudity?... no they just make a couple of lame penis jokes and leave it at that. In terms of plot and imagination, it felt like old episodes rehashed. Almost everything that happened has been done before on the show in one way or another. It was watchable, but it should have been great. A shame.
  5. Quick Question about Madeleine McCann

"I wonder what's on TV tonight?" Most probably
  6. Movie/TV recommendations

Spaff told me to watch Dragon Wars, based on the trailer he saw. The bastard. OK so the trailer did make it look like stupid fun. The action sequences are admittedly pretty good, but the acting and dialogue and plot are just atrocious.
  7. Mass Effect

Yeah, the sci-fi clichés were actually intentional. In an interview the devs said that they wanted it to look like a certain kind of scifi movie that we all remember. Anyway, good things. It definately sounds like a game that is less than easily accessible for the masses to which it has been marketed, but for Bioware fans I'm guessing it won't dissapoint.
  8. System shocked

Well, there's a moment when you meet the captain or whoevcer it is that is giving you instuctions thourgh the first few levels. If you dont get hooked by that poin then, yeah, you have probably been spoiled by all the games that stole from it in later years. Otherwise, were you not at least freaked out by the monkey noises?
  9. Holy Ghostbusters!

Why on earth were you not allowed to watch Ghostbusters?! OK it's a little scary but it's still a family movie. I remember seeing it in the cinema. There was a light dancing about on the wall of the theatre and I thought it was a real ghost.
  10. Holy Ghostbusters!

    Gameplay sneak peek.
  11. Call of Duty 4

I like him. He's fiesty. Lets let him live.
  12. You Can't Spell Assassin Without...

Ah, that's all good to know.
  13. Holy Ghostbusters!

Hopefully it will be somewhat like the leaked footage from the cancelled game a little while ago. The mess that the proton beams make is pure joy.
  14. You Can't Spell Assassin Without...

Gabe at Penny Arcade has defended the game, which is something I guess. Although he's not the sharpest knife in the ribs... I guess I was wanting more of a Blood Money, open-ended approach to the assassinations, which is a fair expectation I think. Also a touch more stealth. Who would make a game about being an assassin without taking some lessons from the Hitman series? Anyway, like Noyb, this is still on my wanted list but it has dropped a few places.
  15. It's true, whenever I'm near Ginger I find bite marks afterwards. Although they look more like lovebites, so they must be really big fleas. Damn, I need some kind of pest control. Mace should work.
  16. Congratulations Mr. Spaff!

Not as fragile as the living room table
  17. Congratulations Mr. Spaff!

Why were you wrapping presents on the waiter's living room table?
  18. Hot titles you're waiting for

Well, yeah, that's why it's best to find a publication or website who's tastes mirror your own. And Eurogamer does explain the bad parts of the game pretty clearly. But like you say, I'm still going to try it for myself.
  19. Hot titles you're waiting for

Eurogamer gave Assassin's Creed a bit of a minor panning, and I can normally trust their views. It's shame, although I'll obviously give the game a try as soon as I can.
  20. TF2 Thumbs Tournament

2Fort is a classic map, it wouldn't be Team Fortress without it. Plus it does a really good job of making you feel secure and territorial while in your own fort, and daring and adventurous when mounting an expedition into the enemy fort. But yeah, the only reason to have a sniper on that map is to suppress enemy snipers. Also people way overestimate the value of engineers in it (actually that goes for the game as a whole - perhaps because the sentry gun has such massive firepower lots of people are scared of it and therefore assume it is the best weapon. I've seeen so many teams fail because they had too many engineers).
  21. Brutal Legend magazine scans

I imagine it will like the gibbing in Team Fortress 2, which is both cartoony, stylish and satisfying, a good feedback reward. Ah, how I have missed gibs; so many years of indestructable ragdolls...
  22. Congratulations Mr. Spaff!

    Hoppy Biffday
  23. Qucik question about java :)

    No, he prefers perl.
