My point was without rehearsals more time is spent inside an expensive studio full of people paid by the hour, what with figuring out character, making mistakes. Just wondering if the cost of one actor for an hour or two would be more or less expensive than maybe a half hour of mistakes/misdirection in the studio.

Why there isn't acting rehearsals before any recording happens, is beyond me.. Surely it's less expensive to sit with the actors for a couple of hours than having to figure things out while an entire recording studio is on the clock?

Yep! They're best when on the fly as much as possible. Gives the show the natural flow that is one of its best features. I feel like almost every new turn the show takes is simultaneously the most natural and completely unexpected direction they could've taken. I think it's a testament to how good their writer's room must be, and I imagine they take the time to think of every possible outcome to arrive at what feels best, instead of just choosing the coolest one as soon as they arrive at the thought. Also, whenever they do something dubious, the face off and magnetic car, like Thunderpeel mentioned, it always feels deserved because they do it to such good effect. Anyway, I love the show and it continues to surprise me in its quality and I just god damn can't wait for the conclusion. I will also be Aas the day it ends..

Haha, that's awful. Doesn't bode well for how they're translating their subtitles, if their legalese is so terrible. They're blaming the streaming service (QBrick) for the bad quality, and are apparently fixing it. But this is unacceptably bad quality. If Netflix can do it right, why the hell can't HBO? I'm more hopeful than you, toblix, that they'll sort out their shit eventually, but yeah.. this is awful so far.

I don't know.. the stream on their website may be in a 1080 resolution, but it still looks like shit. They said it'll look less shit soon.

They're "rolling out HD to other platforms" as we speak, apparently. All this delay and they still have nothing actually ready on launch.. I would expect something like this from Netflix (and they did pretty well from day one) but HBO have a small selection of series and films and they should've gotten that right from the get go.

The quality is terrible so far, and they've said that HD is somehow only available to Samsung TV customers, for now. So I hope this gets better, but so far it's pretty shit.
