The buttons reachable without lifting your thumbs are the triggers and the trackpads themselves, as far as I can see, which isn't any different from a DualShock controller..

You might even say Twig came away satisfied.

Here's the Spelunky Explorers Club compilation, a mess of voices talking over each other. Cut it down to a beginning, middle and end, for sanity.
-
Yes! Finally Jake got a 3DS! Very happy that you're enjoying Super Mario 3D Land. Next up you should try Luigi's Mansion. EDIT: Also.. doing that Spelunky Explorer's Club montage.. Right. Now.

Clearly we aren't talking about Space Feminists enough.
-
Yeah, I think it's pretty appalling to look down your nose at someone for the choices they make. Feminists worked hard to ensure that women aren't expected to be stay-at-home moms (for equality's sake, of course, but also.. it's a fucking hard job!!), but I can't possibly imagine what problem they have with a woman who chooses to do it. Hell, I'd do it and I know my wife would do it if either of us had a job that could support us all. Having taken paternity leave for only 2 months, and being completely overwhelmed at various points throughout, I have immense respect for stay-at-home moms. Holy christ.. stalkinghead, I think paternity leave is definitely something feminists fight for. Because it challenges the assumption that women are naturally better at taking care of children and that it is ultimately a woman's job. That doesn't exclude fighting for more/better maternity leave, though. EDIT: stalkinghead, here's an article about how custody issues have changed through the years.

I'm totally in way over my head here, but I thought substantive equality meant taking into account irrefutable differences between the sexes (like the ability to give birth), not the statistical stuff you mention.

I Was Only Kidding! Really, I can't see how anything at all in the last pages can be considered angry.. However, I think all this tonal discussion got in the way of a more serious point you were making earlier about biological differences. I'm actually interesting in hearing yours and others' opinions about this and why you think feminism doesn't take biological difference into account. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't feminists fighting for 'substantive equality', meaning taking into consideration the differences between the sexes in order to avoid discrimination against women?
-
I think you should try saying that in a less angry tone.

I sure hope it's not just a streaming box.. The only reason I'm excited about this is if I don't have to buy an entire PC to play games.
-
Until the first thing. I wonder how long the countdown will be to the next two.. I hope the first thing is the SteamBox. If the first thing is some bio-sensor controller I'm a be disappoint! ..until later when they announce the next two things.

Fair enough, Sno. But for someone like me who never finished the original because of the long endgame, I'm pretty happy with the new gameplay changes. Add to that the higher resolution, the dynamic shadows in outdoor scenes (which is HUGE, every scene in the original had the shadows drawn into the textures, meaning those needed to be removed and the scenes relit) and this seems like a solid remake to me.. I'm really sad they did away with a lot of the color contrast (the skies notably being less blue!) but I can live with those things. I think they've done a great job and far more than a lot of last-gen to HD ports have (as far as I'm aware, at least)

It's three announcements. Or are you all just joking?

I am extremely tempted to get a Wii U once its price drops on the 4th of October (here in Europe).. Ugh.. must resist.. Wind Waker... HD! (..it really looks good. It's a bit different, perhaps not all for the best, but all in all so much good stuff. The new dynamic shadows look so good..)

BigJKO replied to JonCole's topic in Video Gaming
Congrats you guys! This is amazing, happy news! -
This is very exciting! Doubly so if they used those onboard graphics you mention Joncole. I wonder how many people are willing to jump into this if it's going to be Linux-based. On the one hand it might be exactly what's needed to push devs into doing more Linux releases. But on the other hand it loses out on exactly what could've made a SteamBox so immediately appealing: A Humongous Launch Library. (although, Linux gaming is much better now a days, what with Humble Bundles and whatnot) As for pricing, didn't Gabe mention that he wanted to put out two or three seperate models? One lower spec, something closer to the $100 tv boxes (Roku, Apple TV, etc.) and then a higher spec, PC priced for the "HARDCORE" gamer. And maybe a console-priced one in the middle. I'd totally buy a $100 SteamBox to play indie games.

Oh man, I did not take it as an act, until I read this thread. Here's a great write-up on the phone call. http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/culture/2013/09/last-nights-breaking-bad-that-mindbending-phone-call.html?mobify=0&intcid=full-site-mobile&mobify=0 Predictably there are people on twitter who just agreed with all the abusive stuff said in the phone call... Re: Chris' thoughts on how ridiculous last episode's cliffhanger was and how the show sets stakes and doesn't follow through. I wonder how you felt about this one. Because I felt it followed through with everything and more of what was set up in the cliffhanger.. And now.. it can only end in tragedy. There's no redemption. Nothing left.

I hope you guys offer this as feedback to 22 cans. It is a beta, after all. If they're ever going to streamline the interface, it'd be now.

Super HOT. Would buy Alpha access, but alas it is only for Windows. God, I love that art style!
-
Awwww hells yeah! Wife and kid are away this weekend so I'll play some Day of the Tentacle along with you. One of my absolute favorites. Hope you're not disappointed after all the hype.

Hah! That's great. Also, I always thought it was a great Indy idea and a logical next step for him, even though the film executed it poorly. Amazing trivia dump, Udvarnoky! So, what game's next, Zeus?!

Holy shit, that looks awesome! Come make one of those here in Copenhagen, ok?
