  1. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Alright! Rayman Legends is amazing! Holy shit, this game looks good! And I love the levels so far! And the daily/weekly challenges! Ah, there's so much good stuff and I've only been at it for an hour or two. I like the framing better than Origins, with the paintings and such. It's less serious and much cuter and visually fun. But.. why are we still rescuing ladies every once in a world? It's the only character unlock that doesn't just happen when collecting lummies (lumlums? Whatever!) at least you're not literally rescuing them from a cage this time around! Also, I was about to declare the Murfy levels as boring after a couple of 'em.. until I tried the weekly Murfy challenge, showing me how excellent the mechanics are when they're just a bit harder and come at you fast enough. Still not my favorite. Anyway, this has so far been pretty damn excellent. I didn't think they had even more wackiness left in 'em after Origins, but they very much did!
  2. Movie/TV recommendations

Huh, ok.. If you're required to purchase your advance ticket immediately then I can see the problem. Over here we just reserve tickets, and If you're not there to pick them up before the deadline (an hour before the show) the tickets are put up for regular sale to late comers.
  3. Movie/TV recommendations

Nah, I'm also for assigned seating.. Especially if I'm going in to watch a premiere of something, I like to just order a ticket a week or two in advance and select some good seats for myself and my friends. Otherwise, I'd have to arrive early just to get some ok to maybe shit seats..

Oh, dear me.. Yeah, I thought syntheticgerbil was talking about the Love Conquers All version. Thank god!

All these EXTREME OPINIONS!! are making me want to pick up Rayman Legends. I loved Origins, so I don't know why I haven't bought it yet.

I'm not opposed to the new designs, there are some fun ones (evn though I always just Stock with the standard Kart..) and the motorcycles allow for a change of play style due to how differently they handle. But I still miss the personalized character karts.. But at least they skin the cars differently per-character.. :-/
  7. Video Game Baby - Idle Parents

Yeah, you're probably right, but I think it'd remove some sense of agency in it. It'd definitely make it easier to play for my toddler, though! Until he hits a wall.
  8. Video Game Baby - Idle Parents

That's only true when you're up to a certain skill level. My buddies and my girlfriend all released the accelerate button before turns, until they got better at drifting. Also.. they drive into walls and have to back up. But I guess that'd just require the backwards button.
  9. Video Game Baby - Idle Parents

Man, that was just the best story, Zeus! I look forward to my son getting to the age where I can introduce him to something like that and just see him learn how a video game works.
  10. Star Wars VII - Open spoilers

What does Lindelof have to do with Star Wars?
  11. Feminism

Hatsuu on the game's boobs and the clothes tearing off, and why that's not offensive.. http://hatsuu.tumblr.com/post/57682499509/at-first-i-thought-senran-kagura-burst-seemed-really This is part of the research, btw, he links in response to the review.

Huh.. I never thought about that. But it's weird that there isn't an option to display that during multiplayer matches. I do remember going "Heh. Hehe. I have a map on my gamepad." last time I played four-player MK8..

Oh, hey did I post the Pushmo/Pullblox World level I made? No?! Here it is!
  14. I did that just for you.
  15. I couldn't stop thinking of the Destiny Cube A.I. as anything but this guy:
  16. Huh. Really? All I see is layers of clay blobs super-imposed on top of the tree to create his puffy cheeks when blowing and some shadows from the tree tops that just look like flat layer on top of the tree. Other shadows on the tree don't look dynamic at all. The tree even bends a bit at the bottom without any of the shading changing. I honestly don't know, but I'd think all the transforming geometry would be harder to pull off in 3d with blend shapes than just making four or five sprites of clay animation. I need to know! Argh!

Pushmo/Pullblox World is out on Wii U eShop! It's pretty neat! The style is CUUUUTE! I've never played a Pushmo game before, so the simplicity of the mechanics and how they gradually get harder without introducing much else is making me really happy.
  18. Listening right now.. I have no idea if this is actually the case, but I've been looking at that Kirby footage for waaaay too long.. And I could swear it looks like it's actual, real clay. The whole thing looks sprite-based, unless they actually rendered it but then decided to limit the rotation of Kirby to 8 or so directions, to make it look.. authentic? I don't know, I may be going insane thinking about this..
  19. Because it's PAC-MAN! MAN! Also, I'm not fond of his 3d look normally, but I think Nintendo really nailed the design, making him much more appealing than he's ever been. Same with Mega Man. And Sonic. Hmmm...
  20. Half-Life 3

The Joke Police approves of this Joke.
  21. Star Wars VII - Open spoilers

Man, are we not done with that joke yet? Hasn't this joke been around since the prequels? It's time to let it die.
