  1. Cities: Skylines

The curve tool is weird. Defining a start point and then defining a control point feels weird to me. It should be start point > end point and then curve control point, so you can see what the entire curve will look like.
  2. Plug your shit

I'm getting closer to having a finished Pointclicking book. I have found a very nice print on demand option that isn't too expensive and still looks very nice. So soon there will be pre-orders! If you want to know exactly when pre-orders start, you can sign up to this mailing list.
  3. Feminism

I honestly have no idea if it's technically illegal somehow or what not. Non-legal opinion from non-lawer me: It definitely shouldn't be. EDIT: Insta-clarify! Not that I'm saying you're saying it should! I love you Twig!
  4. Feminism

I haven't been so proud to be Icelandic in a long while, to be honest! It hits a lot of issues at once. From revenge porn to censorship, beauty standards to arbitrary double standards. Reading tweets from victims of revenge porn talking about how they're no longer ashamed thanks to the solidarity was truly heartwarming. A lot of truly inspiring tweets from politicians, mothers and young women. Some of my friends joined in and I couldn't be more proud of them. If it were my daughter, showing this kind of courage in sticking it to sexualization, I would've been beaming with pride! All in all I think this was brilliant. And, as is usually the case, some people's reactions to it pretty much proves their point.. (The reaction being more slut-shaming, some parents being ashamed of their daughters, everyone's favorite hashtag #GamerGate trolling th hashtag with dick pics, tone policing, "Can't we leave *something* to the imagination!", etc.) Btw, almost all the tweets and articles I've read on this are in Icelandic, so I don't really have any links for anyone right now.. EDIT: Just started reading this one from Vice, seems to be more in-depth than the one Ben linked: https://i-d.vice.com/en_us/article/free-the-nipple-goes-viral-and-we-dissect-the-backlash
  5. Cities: Skylines

OMG, I just died that was so good!
  6. Cities: Skylines

Oh, yeah, that would be *very* nice! Layout the roads and get a total price before plopping it all down.
  7. Cities: Skylines

Bulldozing it gives you most of that back, though, right?
  8. Cities: Skylines

Just place a tiny little piece anywhere and delete it? There's *probably* a mod that disables that, though.
  9. Amateur Game Making Night

Starting trying out some new things with my particles last night. Shadows! Had to set the material to the Standard Shader to get the shadows, which disabled any opacity control in the particle system (I'm using Particle Playground now, it was on offer yesterday, and the interface is soooo much nicer than Shurikens) Maybe I need to try creating a simpler shader to allow for the particle system to have more control, and using the Standard Shader for particles is maybe not an optimal solution? I don't know. But I like the look!
  10. Cities: Skylines

I hope it gets put up on the workshop, so I can plop it in a city and zone a little residential area right in the middle of that. Then watch the land value SKY ROCKET, amirite?!
  11. Cities: Skylines

I keep finding new things, there is apparently already a "Proper Hardness" mod, with adjustable difficulty parameters. Workers are required to go to work (they weren't before?!), traffic is even harder, fire spreads faster (at all? Does it spread at all now?), households have wealth which lowers with shopping and taxes, etc. etc. Not going to touch this as I'm finding this perfectly satisfying at the moment, but might be interesting for those of you wanting more challenge! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=408706691 Here's the zonable pedestrian path mod I mentioned earlier! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=409184143&searchtext= ISOMETRIC CAMERA MODE!!! Holy crap there are so many freaking mods! ] http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=409359952&searchtext=
  12. Cities: Skylines

Holy crap I love this game.
  13. Cities: Skylines

BTW, an update made it possible to switch the direction of one-ways! Makes quite a difference when laying out roads. Just select the upgrade road tool and right-click on a one-way road. EDIT: Is there any way to easily access all the things you've renamed? Renaming things seems kind of silly if you can't easily find them again.
  14. I'm so, so happy that they're both limited runs of 9 and 6 episodes. Now they can hopefully tell a good, shorter story in those worlds without worrying about having to serialise it or whatever.. David Lynch was suddenly very skeptical about Twin Peaks 2016 happening, but Showtime apparently quickly said this is still happening; This was all just the usual contract negotiation stuff or something to that effect.
  15. Cities: Skylines

I don't know if bicycling has ever been a thing in City Sims before, but it was just something that popped up in my head due to the ever-expanding swath of mods people are making. There's already a mod that allows you to build pedestrian walking paths that are zonable, so you could make a city that has no car roads!
  16. Cities: Skylines

I also started a city yesterday after watching the video Chris posted (and the guy's other Cities videos, they're a lot of fun!) It was a lot of fun taking it slow this time around, spending more time thinking about where my roads go rather than just constantly expanding. I make sure not to rush into the milestones, which sort of means I enjoy my little town a bit more. I got the same problem with forgetting to connect my residential to my industrial area, so the garbage trucks kept going all the way out of the region just to get to the landfill. Having forgotten how the youtube guy laid out his thing, I just put a one-way road over to the industrial area. I see now I should've extended my main residential road over to the industrial.. But whatever, now the trucks go into the residential from the little highway and go back through my little one-way connection. It bothers me immensely that I didn't notice the entry point was crooked so my little highway got crooked and everything I thought was straight is now crooked BUT WHATEVER! Just for funsies and to think about how to continue the road planning next time, I drew up the one ways. The green ones are potentially stupid and should be two-way.. But if I remove the one going to the industrial zone I lose the cool blue loop of trucks.. I think I'll keep it.
  17. Cities: Skylines

What do you mean? To the end that my cims (or whatever they're called) ride around the city using bicycles instead of cars sometimes? It just feels like a natural extension to me coming from a city where so many people ride a bike everywhere and with dedicated lanes for bicycles..
  18. Cities: Skylines

Can someone start modding bicycle traffic support in, thanks?´!
  19. Cities: Skylines

Wow, that was excellent! Time to start a new city again, I guess! Edit: Oh no, I just fell into the rabbit hole of just watching this guy's videos of playing Cities: Skylines instead of playing Cities myself! He shows a larger city he's built and it's wonderful with so many intricate little traffic details!
  20. Idle Thumbs Forums.... I choose you!

    Even Nick! Welcome!!
  21. Amateur Game Making Night

    Nice! So it's a bullet-hell driving game?
  22. So.. it's happening. Nintendo Mobile games. Brought to you by DeNA. On the one hand, I don't mind mobile Nintendo games. Give me cool Nintendo mobile games, please. Advance Wars: iOS? Yes, please. On the other hand, DeNA? I don't think I've heard of anything but shit, same-y Tower Defense etc. games from them. So.. them handling Nintendo's IP? Not very happy about that. They're also handling Nintendo's new unified online infrastructure. Which is.. well, they can't possibly handle it worse than Nintendo, but is there any reason to think they're any good at it? I don't see any reports mention what DeNA's track record is for such stuff?? Bonus news: To assure people they're still into dedicated game hardware, they announced the mysterious codename NX. A brand new dedicated gaming hardware with no details whatsoever. Hope this isn't what replaced Wii U in a year or something, that'd bum me out a bit.. (source)
  23. Nintendo announces mobile deal with DeNA

Please. It's been sixty years, obviously.
  24. Nintendo announces mobile deal with DeNA

Yeah, most digital d-pad games on iOS are pretty awful to control, so lets just say I hope Nintendo resists that temptating prospect!
