  1. Nintendo's E3 Conference Thread

I have the exact same feeling. I have never had a console - just playing on pc and handheld nintendo's (I didn't have a tv) - but recently I found one in a dumpster that I use to watch dvd's from my pc. And after watching the Nintendo presentation I really wanted a wii. And despite what Nintendo says I will never pronounce it any other way than WIIIIIIII (which I think is the real pronounciation - just remember Miyamote dancing...)
  2. e3 predictions

Anyone have predictions for e3? here's one: Sony is totally going to rip of Nintendo (more than they already are doing with the psp as discussed in a recent thread). I've had this feeling for some time that the -revolution- nintendo unveiled last year really got sony thinking in terms of -revolutionary- control-schemes... hints: from this article, on the mystery-ad campaign sony is once again running before the show: http://www.gamespot.com/e3/e3story.html?sid=6149281 "The most obvious ads are a series of massive billboards prominently visible from the LACC's main entrance. One shows a surrealistic take on a game of rock-paper-scissors--with the person making "scissors" actually having steel blades for fingers, and the person making "rock" actually having a stone fist." :shifty:
  3. Gamespot has a live stream - it worked quite well with the sony conference...
  4. e3 predictions

HAHAHAHAAA I don't really want to say WHAT DID I SAY, because it is so fucking terrible that this actually happened... As someone mentioned in the controller-thread it was unlikely not to happen, but still - that they so blatantly RIPS of nintendo's real innovation - calls it a fantastic innovation in the marketing babble that was the sony-conference is just ARGH.
  5. Sony's E3 Conference Thread

The only cool thing until now was the card-game-come-real-eyetoy-thingie .. else it is totally boring marketing crap....
  6. Sony's E3 Conference Thread

what free live-streaming video possibilities is there out there on the net?
  7. Sony's E3 Conference Thread

I can't seem to get through to the gamespot-stream, there is only the stay tuned sign up...
  8. e3 predictions

true - like using the 4th dimension for example... I actually hope they will try to rip off - it would really make them look pathetic - and as you say I don't really think they could pull it through....
  9. Dreamfall discussion *spoilers*

    AND WHAT HAPPENED TO DAMIEN?
  10. Dreamfall discussion *spoilers*

I loved dreamfall and I loved the ending (the fighting was bad, not enough puzzles blabla - but these are minor things).. I definitely think there is something suspect about Brian Westhouse, funny enough I understood White Dragon's reaction to him when they first meet as pure and simple human love/desire - see white dragon aren't used to these human feelings (she said that) - she gets goose-bumps .. so I think her body quite independently was attracted to Brian... Well that was my initial reaction anyway - it seemed very clear to me when I watched the scene where they first meet. On the other hand I'm sure there is something suspect with Brian - hmm also the way he was so eager to help -get-to-the-dark-peoples-city-(where-white-dragon-is)-oh-well-he-throws- everything-aside-to-help-this-strange-girl... suspect I say....
  11. Runaway

Well I sort of liked it - for the mood alone - and a nice ending etc etc. But some of the puzzles was quite horrific - but still - I enjoyed it....
  12. Marc Ecko's Getting Up

Anyone of you playing this? I'm playing right now - and I think it is quite nice. It sort of reminds me a bit of Beyond Good and Evil - with the double gameplay of taking pictures /fighting fascists replaced by painting grafiti / fighting fascists. While the fighting is executed quite nice - I think there is to much of it - and the sneaking is ridiculous - mostly because of the bloody camera's (on pc anyways). But the painting is nicely executed - and there is many great pieces you can make. All in all the feel of the game makes up for what is less-great.
  13. Prince Of Persia

Well I played through WW only because TT was announced. And I used god-mode-cheat all the way (gasp - something I never done before). I really just wanted to get the story highlights, and the edgy stuff did really get on my nerves... But is has some enjoyable gameplay down beneath the stupid stupid art and mood-direction... When I finished with WW I was so tired of the whole shebang that I couldn't make myself to play TT - I will someday, but right afterwards I just wished for the prince to bloody die with a thousand scissors in his eye.
  14. Marc Ecko's Getting Up

Hmm SetJep RindGradio-style... Don't know... Well there is an outline of the piece you're going to make, and then you move your hand and spray over, and it will fill out. You have to take care not to spray to long in one place, as it will make drips - which aren't nice. Also there is a time-limit, if you extend beyond the time limit you'll get less respect. This is of course to emulate that what you're doing is illegal and you cannot linger around to long - sometimes you'll have to hurry while guards and security cameras is looking the other way. It sounds rather dull - but actually it works surprisingly well - and the sounds are just great - somehow it all makes what on paper seems like a stupid waste-of-time gameplay mechanic really enjoyable....
  15. Bananas, proof that god exists

AAARRRGGGHHH ...the other one is nice though...
  16. Marc Ecko's Getting Up

well the fighting is really just a necessary evil (and its not totally terrible). What I get is a somewhat interesting story - a story anyways - there is character developement and a moody world to explore. And the grafiti is great. There is one scene where you battle an opponent - you are both rapelling down an big tunnel-overhead and competing in who finishes his giant piece first. All the while your mates shout at you and a television-copter is passing by commenting it - great! But sure - that's the up's. The other stuff is somewhat annoying....
  17. I actually think the endboss-fight was very creative and well-thought out... It took some tries - but I think it made sense...
  18. Headsmiley poll, round four!

I will here quote myself a few posts up: "(now we just need to invent soundscapeys - similar to smileys only with sounds/music - so that we can add the terrific hypnotoad sound. Patents pending)." I just felt so ignored *sop*
  19. Headsmiley poll, round four!

the point being that everybody must obey the hypnotoad (as he hypnotizes all). All obey the hypnotoad! (now we just need to invent soundscapeys - similar to smileys only with sounds/music - so that we can add the terrific hypnotoad sound. Patents pending).
  20. Another World Windows

I got Heart of the Alien to work on an emulator some years ago. It's great! And very much in line with Another World. I don't remember it being really difficult - if you can play through Another World, this one is similar. You play as your alien mate, and you have a whip of fire - weeee. I can strongly recommend it to all Another World fans...
  21. BS4....Hmmm

Grim Fandango was keyboard-controlled not point'n'click.....
  22. BS4....Hmmm

Weeell, I will wait and see if this 3d-point'n'click will work before judging it for the bad. In some way people saying oh no point'n'click why oh why, aren't that different from people saying the opposite... It worked quite well for Discworld Noir...
  23. Cursing in Oblivion

hi ho - without ever having played the game or anything I completely agree with everyone who doesn't agree with Rodi. I'm sure you are right Rodi, but it touches on what really pisses me off about high fantasy-games, -litterature -whatever. It is that everybody feel it should be so bloody goddamn high-brow. So much thou and thee, eternal goodness, total evil, great heroes and really bad bad-guys etc. Its so goddamn unrealistic, which can be okay, but in this case it has just become a terrible and annoying cliché. What we really need is some low-brow-in-your-face-social-realism-high-fantasy (please not eXtreme). I think this is why Terry Pratchetts 'high' fantasy is so -ing great. I guess you're not the only one feeling ranty today Marek (might be something with the solar eclipse...)
  24. Sid Meier

I think his last purely Sid 'brainchild' was Sid Meier's Simgolf. Its actually a really fun game - and it shows what it is that Sid actually is good at, take some quite simple idea and make a really enjoyable game out of it. If you look at his original creations: Pirates!, Colonization, Civilization, Railroad Tycoon, Covert Action they are of this type. (= Be a Pirate, Colonize America, Be a railroad-baron, be a secret agent etc). But you are right - more original creations Sid - wish they worked a bit like some bits of the movie-industry (do a blockbuster run-of-the-mill instant succes movie, - then do crazy original creative nobody-sees-it movie). So we could have all the sequels and then sometimes a special gem (not that I think that there is something wrong with the sequels coming out of Firaxis - I love the Civ-games). Alpha Centauri was not created by Sid, but was the brain-child of Bryan Reynolds (I think?), who moved on to creating Big Huge Games and their Rise of Nations franchise. Alpha Centauri is one of my all time favourite strategy-games so I'm sad that Rise of Nations really didn't do anything for me. Some years ago Sid was working on some kind of Dinosaurs game - but it was sacked due to lacking 'funness' (remember Sid basically developes games by prototyping the hell out of an idea).
