  2. No Pre-Owned PS3 Games?

    true...
  3. No Pre-Owned PS3 Games?

So you say that the moment you put it into your ps3, the game can only be playable on that machine? What if it breaks? What if you have 2 (fat chance when its 600 quid a piece - but still).... They would really have to lower the price for this not to affect their sales - it's the rootkit-story again - I don't think the customers would stand for it - and I don't think that they would dare do it....
  4. No Pre-Owned PS3 Games?

Well nobody knows, the factor that sony dismissed the rumor counts for nothing of course. The main thing is that it would be next to impossible law-wise - we're talking many many different countries with different laws .. I'm not totally an expert on this subject - but I'm quite sure no amount of lobbying would change this ... because if it happened with video-games, then why not movies, and cd's AND books (and clothes and every-fucking-thing-you-could-think-of)..... There is no reason these should not be included .... So doing it with video-games would start a crazy lavine of crazyness (yes sir!)... This is simply not feasible - and what should the individual governments gain from such a thing? I know in denmark you pay VAT even for used wares (if its in a store anyway). It would result in enourmous government losses.... So I simply don't see it happening....
  5. No Pre-Owned PS3 Games?

There will always be a second-hand market .. also - the rumors have been dismissed..... Anyways I think a lot of people would by less new games if they couldn't sell it on...
  6. http://www.video gamesblogger.com/2006/05/25/nintendo-announces-japanese-wii-price.htm And opera-exec says you can browse internet with the wiimote: http://gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=17269 -which is maybe a bit unnecessary ... ? It's great for the ds - but internet on console... (oh well it could work - lets see...)
  7. Double Fine kitten & game leak

You're a genius: the only things I'm not sure about is the 'secrets' part - the others can be see more or less clearly in the repetition... From the blurb of "Albertus Seba's Cabinet of Natural Curiosities" (which surely is the book behind the screen): "I saw this huge beautiful book at a store today and nearly bought it on a whim - even with the $150 price tag. Then I thought I'd check on Amazon and maybe get it at a discount - no such luck. They said they don't discount such hard-to-find titles. Well, it's certainly not hard to find, as it is published by Taschen, and any decent bookstore has plenty of Taschen books. It is however huge, and expensive, so there's the trouble. Here is some info on the book directly from the publishers: Albertus Seba's "Cabinet of Curiosities" is one of the 18th century's greatest natural history achievements and remains one of the most prized natural history books of all time. Though it was common for men of his profession to collect natural specimens for research purposes, Amsterdam-based pharmacist Albertus Seba (1665-1736) had a passion that led him far beyond the call of duty. His amazing, unprecedented collection of animals, plants and insects from all around the world gained international fame during his lifetime. In 1731, after decades of collecting, Seba commissioned illustrations of each and every specimen and arranged the publication of a four-volume catalog detailing his entire collection-from strange and exotic plants to snakes, frogs, crocodiles, shellfish, corals, insects, butterflies and more, as well as fantastic beasts, such as a hydra and a dragon. Seba's scenic illustrations, often mixing plants and animals in a single plate, were unusual even for the time. Many of the stranger and more peculiar creatures from Seba's collection, some of which are now extinct, were as curious to those in Seba's day as they are to us now. Our superb, complete reproduction is taken from a rare, hand-colored original. The introduction offers background information about the fascinating tradition of the cabinet of curiosities to which Seba's curiosities belonged and an additional annex, written by contemporary biologists, provides descriptions of the specimens. What we really need is some program that are specifically designed to reconstruct text from blurred images ... there is a lot of pdf's on the net about this .. many are using some bayesian filters and such - but its mostly math-mumbo-jumbo ... isn't there any spies on the thumb who has this crazy image-enhancement software that can recognize faces in a crowd on bad-resolution pictures?
  9. Double Fine kitten & game leak

There must be hints in this picture .. come on thumbers - bring on the code-cracking.. left corner on the book: California pri* or pru* left, behind screen on what is presumably a book: *ural Curiosities --- probably "Cultural Curiosities" .. working on the text on screen... EDIT: first two lines: N----- or ----- how --rh-l-x I---- of ---- -l-- D---k Mic---k H-n--d--- ---ir- -b------- I --- --- ----! I H--l---- ...this is impossible - unless we had some nice text-recognition-software.....
  10. My First Review (Gibbage related ¬¬)

Up that alley - you could try to pimp your game to Chris Kohler at http://blog.wired.com/games/ ... he seems interested in all sorts of games and he might give you a mention or something...
  11. My First Review (Gibbage related ¬¬)

Not a chance that you will do it or not? ... sorry for being daft...
  12. My First Review (Gibbage related ¬¬)

DON'T DO IT... they're just after money (oh yeah - this is capitalism - sorry I forgot....)
  13. No Pre-Owned PS3 Games?

Allright - everybody would want to make games a single-purchase-thingie - I mean it would them more money - simple as that.... I'm sure sony have talked about it - and also microsoft AND nintendo - it's a good business strategy - it makes more money.... Actually Nintendo had rental video-games forbidden in Japan quite a long time ago - and it still is! (I'm almost positive but I wont bother finding a source...) The problem is twofold for these companies: 1) How to do it practically 2) How to do it without everybody hating you Practically I think there has been talk about a license -model, where you by buying a game agrees to a license that you cannot sell it on... This is legal problematic and there is no way you could keep people from just selling it on anyway - I mean its a bit like internet-licenses - it's not really legal tender. The other problem is of course that everybody would hate you if it was shown to be your own greedy wish. It's easy to imagine sony in this evil role right now - because Sony is basically throwing evil vibes at the public... But let me underscore, everybody would want to do it if they could... (remember money..). So it will probably come through some way or other hidden behind lobby-action or something like that ... so we'll just have to fight it ..
  14. Japanese Wii-price: 25.000 yen (225 $)

To be precise, they said that 25.000 yen was the maximum price - so this news isn't really news at all - I'm just trying to keep the hype going....
  15. Lost in Blue

HAhaha that's hilarious - tell me how excatly did that happen.....
  16. Exchange rate o_O

Ok that's it. - I'm sold... Thx goes to the thumbs earthbound panel for their expert knowledge....
  18. Final Fantasy for the PC

Okay - that's it ... What's so great with these mother games?
  19. Final Fantasy for the PC

Yes - I've also had a plan for many years to mount a computer inside a tv-case, and build a cardboard ps2 - beside it - then run only emulator on it- so it would look like I had a ps2 - just for the style you know....
  20. ScummVM DS - Sam and max video

Well it worked really good, for half a year - and then for some odd reason it suddenly crashed... So I guess I could just have it replaced from the dealer - but it was imported from US so I didn't really take the time... they are not cheap, about the price of two games - but if they didn't stop worling it would be totally worth it...
  21. ScummVM DS - Sam and max video

Ok - I have had flashcart for my gba (EZadvance powerstar 256). It comes with a writer - which is a gbacart-slot with an usb-cable. And then there is a piece of software where you basically put stuff on the gba-cart. There are tons of uses - I used it mostly to play nes-games with a nes-emulator which of course is totally great. But you can also put movies (in shit quality) and music (in shit-quality) on it etc. The passme for the ds basically links (either by cable or wifi) the nintendo-ds slot with the gba-slot. So that the ds thinks it gets the data from the ds-slot (as nintendo has done some magic basically to fight piracy so that the gba-slot really can't use the touch-screen etc....). The shorting is convienient so that you don't have to use the passme every time. I haven't messed with my ds in this way and my flashcart just stopped working - so I can't really say if it is really difficult on the ds....
  22. Holy Uncanny Valley

that's hilarous! Anyways I think it was kind of cool that she had donkey-teeth - I mean some people have them and why should photo-realistic also always be photo-model-realistic... But the eyes and especially the mouth-animations when she speaks is really really disconcerting - especially the mouth -I couldn't stop staring at the bloody mouth.... There was some quite good emotion in that scene - but they should really fix the face-animations.... EDIT: I was just thinking that it actually fascinated me - catched my attention in some weird way... Maybe it's the first time I really experienced the legendary uncanny valley.... cool EDITEDIT: judging by the amount of avatar-action going on, it seems I'm not the only one fascinated...
  23. Phoenix Wright sticks back!

    I think sticks is nice...
  24. possibly interesting e3 games

I have just viewed the trailer .. Biomechanical ai - they will actually use biomechanics! Will the game include a usb-compatible brain in a jar? ... my arse - they could as well just rape words the way they are treating the meaning of them And I hate the way the last two indiana jones games have been mostly about fighting in akward 3rd person action-adventures ... this seems none different - just nicer looking...
  25. Sam Suede

WTF - said last in the trailer by bedeyes woman voice - argh EDIT: *watched the seinfield comedian trailer* bah blatant rip-off - they even took some of the lines... EDIT: from the site: "Sam Suede™ is not an adventure game. There's no inventory so there‘s no inventory manipulation. Although it’s a mystery game, there’s no note-taking required. Finish the game and the mystery solves itself. " Seriously... /there is no challenge, just sit back stupid the game will finish itself - cool eh... -When has "this is not an adventure game" become a selling point for adventure-game-style-revivals? Will they put it on a bulletpoint on the box? ... bah
