Let's not forget that pokemon is a (relatively) recent franchise, and actually came out of Gamefreak and not Nintendo (though credit to Nintendo and Miyamoto for getting so much behind it). Also I think it's fair to say that pokemon may have been mishandled in maybe the last 2/3 years, it screams for online play, not more of the little buggers.

Can Nintendo not produce anything that can stand on its own merits without sticking that plumber's ugly visage on the box?

Lessig made his book available "free" under creative commons, google that. It's also available in audio format with chapters read by a number of individuals, which is available as a torrent somewhere.

Perhaps I should point out that "bog standard crate/barrel/corridor crappy level design" didn't exist until id came along and invented it Also, Quake 2 MP is perfectly balanced (try playing it again sometime). What hurt multiplayer was poor networking code (compared to quakeworld). Conversely, Quakeworld is not balanced at all, it's a rocket launcher game (and a damn good one at that).

Sonic has a cartoon show (Sonic X) on Fox Kids, which is what the kids are going to be familair with; not the "hedgehog with attitude" of Christmas Past (Sonic games on consoles aren't that hot nowadays, with sonic advance being about as good as it gets). Sega & Mcdonalds is nothing special, the Ronald McDonald game by Treasure was a Megadrive game. So was Mick and Mack Global Gladiators. Sonic Happy Meal toys were common "back in the day", so give the guys some credit for knowing their audience (if only that had held true for the sad days of the 32x). I don't like that Bush comment at all

Reverso-challenge response! English to German! Go! They were erected in a purvious century, as a hen fine coops and, if you know your Bristol and have trudged the trolly ways and elventurns of that old cobbold city, you will sortofficially scribble a mental Peny-Knox-Gore. Perhaps you know not wot of you deal!

I've got to agree with Kolzig here; for all their faults, Microsoft made the best pad ever when they made the sidewinder. I still use mine which I bought in 1998. The only problem is you don't get soundcards with midi ports much these days, which is maximum suck. How did they go from the Sidewinder to the XBox Plastic-Hat style joypad? The answer: MS are in kahootz with petroleum companies, churning out ginormous controllers to drum up business for the plastics industry.

Sadly Chuckie Egg 2 could not be equally reckoned. What the hell was he supposed to be, a seahorse or something?

Hardwar: So damn obscure that only one person has ever played it, and he's a bit ill in the brain. It is the gin you see.
