I live in a cube, 2.5x2.5x2.5m It's a nice cube though; like a nest. I might get a photo of it if I FEEL LIKE IT or if I email picture phone thing to myself (if I get my hands on someone's picturephone)

Try going to the command line, or "Run" item from the start menu and typing "services.msc" (without the quotes). this will open up the Windows services manager. Have a look at anything that's "Started" and see if it's in any way suspicious looking. (eg missing a proper service description, or the filename is all CAPS or something). Be careful not to turn of RPC or anything related to that, or you can cause yourself a little bit of trouble. Anything that mentions FTP or IRC is probably being used by someone to mess about on your computer. Try Zonealarm's firewall (rather than the windows XP one). Have a look at your device manager (properties on My Computer) and see if your network card or onboard networking is disabled for some reason (could be drivers, could be firmware getting confused). Can also try disabling your network connection, and then re-enabling it (network connections from control panel). Also you can try "ipconfig /renew *" from the command line

my PSU burned out a couple of weeks back, new ones are pretty cheap (mine was €45, but they're cheaper if you buy from an online retailer). If you're buying a new psu, it's safest to go for high wattage (400W or more). Laptop PSU's are a bit of a foggy zone for me, but they're probably proprietry (dell or sony or whatever) and that'll up the cost. If your warranty is gone, you should try opening her up and see if it smells of ozone. If you have a post code display thing (sort of a blow by blow analysis of what your motherboard is doing during bootup) you might be able to see just when it is that your computer stops booting

I write programs like that sometimes. It's sort of inefficient in terms of processing, but it saves memory overhead and it's pretty elegant. Like: this is in psuedocode, not a formal language. opening hours := "0"; if day = Mon-Thur { opening hours += "8 - 15:10"; } if day = Mon-Tue { opening hours += "9 - 17"; } return opening hours; only problem with that is that it has to do 3 tests and up to 3 assignments, but it's good for the memory.

They'll rush 3-4 titles, and lose all the refinement you get when you spend 90% of time on the last 10% as is typical. Likely PS2 ports (gran turismo etc) where most of the work is already done. Figure other games would be due 4/5 months after launch, with the usual licensed chaff thrown in there to make up the difference. I can imagine they'll put more PR into the UMD movie/music playing as this is pretty much finished, and might obscure a poor launch games lineup. I'd expect something like 8 movies there, typical blockbuster rubbish and maybe one or two sony-owned anime collections (Metropolis? Cowboy Bebop?)

What the hell is a "hitler beard"? Did you just make that up? You just made that up!

It's a plot to get you to buy new crap. Intel are always doing that.

It is indeed "star star", and the Frames are overrated. You stay away from that Hansard boy

We should make a poll!
-
If, however, you want to vote in STUPID POLLS, you should forgo video games and come straight to Idle Thumbs' forums!
-
What kind of crazy poll is this? What's better, cheese or hats? Well, cheese is pretty good, it's easier to eat, but with a hat, you can use it every day, and the smell won't get much worse. I say hats!

Fat chance! Apple hardware is forever overpriced. You're paying for the privilege of running their (overrated) OS.

While Valve may be the absolute worst developer ever for keeping to their own deadlines (pretty much every non-expansion game they've worked on) they can be entirely forgiven for coming out with stuff that we didn't even ask for; Deathmatch classic, TFC, Ricochet (not exactly the best example, but hey, it's free) and their relationship with the community is up there with id and epic. What a time to be a fps fan.

The catch is that you can't do a damn thing to those computers unless apple says you can.
