  1. Idle Hooves: CLOP

How wonderfully patronizing of you. Do let me know when I meet your standards!
  2. Idle Hooves: CLOP

Sorry if I came across harshly, I just assumed calling you "man-who-doesn't-suck" would have been seen a jokey jibe. But, since you called me a knob, I'll explain a little further: Your point was that he CHEATED. You then said that only people who "sucked" played it like that -- which includes me. Now you're calling me knob. Not reeeeeally sure you should be pointing fingers about being "aggressive".
  3. Idle Hooves: CLOP

Oh, brother! Is that because I don't think Apple are the greatest company in the universe??
  4. Psychonauts

Well just to add to the "it wasn't THAT bad" pile: I've completed Psychonauts three times (always with a controller) and I've never found it particularly difficult. I don't consider myself a particularly good games player, so I really do think it's probably a strategy/tactics thing.
  5. Idle Hooves: CLOP

If it wasn't for the obstacles, I'd probably agree, but it really makes me think you haven't played it... ? When you've got a horse that will slide backwards down a slight incline despite all four legs pulling it forward, it does make me somewhat sceptical that it could be done better. It's pretty fun, though!
  6. Idle Hooves: CLOP

Please make a video and show us what we're all doing wrong, oh-man-who-doesn't-suck. (You HAVE played this game, right?)
  7. Books, books, books...

That's cool. However, when it came time for the Dark Star Special Edition, it was Carpenter who refused to work with O'Bannon. Not the other way around. Why do you think it was from O'Bannon's side, too? Also, Dark Star was a comedy with zero scary moments (the alien was a beachball). I can't see how Halloween is remotely related.
  8. Idle thumbs London meet!

I may be available for some of that...
  9. Psychonauts

Yep! (Not sure how I missed that.) This is indeed some excellent tips for the Meat Circus by Mr Shafes. http://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/topic/7975-psychonauts/#entry201430
  10. Idle Hooves: CLOP

The physics are all over the place, that's why you can't play it any other way. As I'm sure you've seen, as soon as you hit a slight incline, you're forced to try anything to gain any purchase. A slight pebble can take ages to get over. That video is the only way to play the game... at least from my experience.
  11. Idle Hooves: CLOP

He "gamed" his way through a game... Hmm. Actually, I believe that's how it's meant to be played.
  12. Psychonauts

I believe Tim S. posted some tips once about how to get up the cylinder... I think invisibility means you don't get his by Raz's dad's knives or something.
  13. Books, books, books...

I would have thought The Thing was more influenced by Dark Star than Halloween. Carpenter never spoke to O'Bannon again, which always made me wonder if he felt O'Bannon had stolen some of his intellectual property for Alien. The Thing always struck me as Carpenter trying to do the same movie, e.g. crew vs alien.
  14. Books, books, books...

Alien wasbasically Dark Star with a bigger budget and serious tone.
  15. The Idle Thumbs Acheivements Leaderboard

This is just a reminder of the Official XBox 360 Achievement Leaderboard for any members who may have gotten a 360 in the past 12 months!
  16. The All New XBox Gamertag Exchange Thread!

You drive a hard bargain. You've been added to post number one.
  17. Idle Hooves: CLOP

    Someone did it!
  18. Psychonauts

That was the hardest bit, but I never got stuck 100+ times. I believe there was a Psych Skill that helped, but I can't remember what it was. In the Steam version I think they added more restart points.
  19. Audio books

I've always found it difficult to listen to Audiobooks, my mind tends to wander. However I've found that I don't seem to suffer from this when I'm listening to Memoirs read by the author. Essentually people just talking about their life. Lately I've listened to: Steve Martin: Born Standing Up - Great book about Martin's early stand-up career. Martin is a low key narrator, but it's worth sticking with. His voice cracks at various time, as if the book wasn't already emotional enough in places. Very enjoyable and revealing. Especially interesting if you'd like to learn more about how a comic's act is created. Highly recommended. Ken Levine: The Me Generation by Me - Ken Levine's life in the 60s, before he became a writer on MASH, Cheers, Frasier, etc. Light and amusing account of a typical teenager's experiences in the 60s... which is to say, he wasn't a hippie or a revolutionary or a political activist. He was just a nerd. Funny, sweet and occassionally moving. Recommended. Tina Fey: Bossy Pants - Fey is freaking hilarious and uses the Audiobook format creatively (she won a Grammy for it). It's a bit scattershot. It doesn't really have a narrative. Just lots of funny bits. It's not very revealing, it's mostly just a laugh. Recommended.
  20. What are the best games that utilize voice chat?

Why did you never join in the GTAIV chat, Mr. Toblix?
  21. Rockstar's L.A. Noire

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I think LA Noire is the Rise of the Robots for the current generation. Great graphics. Great advertising. Lousy gameplay.
  22. Fresh Indie Game Compendium Extraordinaire

Are you kids fucking up this thread with your comments?
  23. Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

I think he was just young and shy... But WOW. It's VERY like Health Ledger's Joker.
  24. Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

Ha. That's fucking weird. It's obviously some big comedic bit she planned, but it's not particularly funny. I guess there was just nothing else to say!
  25. Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

So apparently Heath Ledger's Joker was based on this interview... I can believe it!
