  1. Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

Makes me never want to drive again. Yikes. Also, who are these people who go around recording every journey?
  2. Hoverboard compo

I have to say that I reckon this is probably BETTER than the original prop. I saw the real prop for Biff's hoverboard and it looked like shit! I couldn't believe it looked so cool in the movie. Also: Where's the link to the competition? Do I have to search for it? Also also: This is a little girl's hoverboard! Edit: So Ben forgot to mention that the competition is to come up with the winning CAPTION for the photo he posted. Damn. All I can think of is, "My name is Marty McFly, and I think homosexuality is AOK!".
  3. Hoverboard compo

Why don't you get the replica and just add the "hover" bits yourself?
  4. Life

    Punching Peter Jackson.
  5. (IGN.com)

Sorry to break the thread with a huge image, but this is where the whole thing started right?
  6. BioShock Infinite

Huh. As someone who has done this sort of thing for a living for about 10 years, I don't really see this as much of a big "reveal". (Same with the Orange and Teal nonsense.) It's like someone saying, "Watch this movie! See how the music comes up slightly in the background when they're saying something emotional? Now watch this! See how the music gets intense when there's an action sequence?" Or "Look at this painting! See how it uses bright colours and it makes you feel happy? Now look at this one, that's all dark and moody. Makes you feel sad, right?" It's all just trends in visual language. Different countries have their own trends and fashions (just look up the oddness that is foreign movie posters). Right now, the public sees the devices pointed out in those posters and subconsciously thinks "action!". (Just like you all did when you saw those posters.) Remember how in the 80s all movie posters were illustrated? Actual paintings? Now everything is a photocomp. Even that trend will become passe, and a new one will develop which will seem cool, making the photocomp days seems as old fashioned as illustrated posters. So maybe we have reached the tail end of the "flaming debris" trend -- I personally still think it looks cool, but make no mistake: It's no secret! Here's another common example of how images are changed to make them look dark and moody. You see this on almost every movie poster, every perfume ad, in every movie, and on every TV show that wants to be taken "seriously". (Up to and including EastEnders.) Here's an extreme example: Here's an example I spent two second in Photoshop mocking up: Here's the original photo... Here's how it would probably look if it was used in a poster or magazine... Also: I love how the designer always gets the blame for these things. Any designer will tell you it's the CLIENT who has final say. It's a designer's job to give you what you want, even if we don't like it. And believe me, we often don't like it.
  7. How do I contribute to this forum?

Oh kindly fuck off. That's TWICE you've insulted members of this community while asking us for help. I already explained that a forum could be useful for NETWORKING. If you're going to ignore helpful answers to your questions AND be a complete dick about it, then I don't see why anyone here should bother with you. Also, thread is excellent
  8. Games giveaway

Silly MS -- although I seriously doubt that still works. Also, it's just a lot easier posting keys straight into the thread. Yes I'm lazy.
  9. Games giveaway

    Score!!!!!
  10. Games giveaway

Hmm. Looks like this thread should be hidden for anyone with less than 100 posts or something :-/
  11. How do I contribute to this forum?

This is like asking how to have a conversation. If you want to use forums for networking, then I'd suggest commenting on things. If you don't like what you get back, then you might consider other forums. Can't say your PS makes your attitude particularly endearing so far.
  12. Fresh Kickstarter Compendium Extraordinaire

Who better to make art than the people who buy it? Right? Right, guys? Guys?
  13. The Hobbit...

    WTF do you mean?
  14. The Hobbit...

Hmm. Try creating a new account?
  15. The Hobbit...

Check the link I sneakily added. I'm booked in at the O2 on Thursday 13th at 1.10pm.
  16. The Hobbit...

Never fear, Ben, Cineworld are doing HFR 3D screenings! http://www.cineworld.co.uk/news/402/detail
  17. The Hobbit...

    Nicely put, Mr Pony!
  18. Games giveaway

BTW - If anyone pre-ordered The Devil's Playhouse, make sure you get your Steam TF2 hats. Even if you don't use them, you can trade them for games. I put my Max's Severed Head hat up on TFOutpost.com and sold it within 30 mins. (I swapped all my DP goodies for SSFIV and The Walking Dead.) Pretty nifty!
  19. Games giveaway

Possibly. Hmm. I don't know how to check that, really :-/ Was it Steam?
  20. The Hobbit...

I suspect that bkrl missed the build up and excitement, and only heard the hype. As a result he watched them with huge expectations, and only saw the flaws. I see the flaws, too, but I also see the good stuff. Which is it bkrl?
  21. Far Cry 3

    Weeeeeeeeeeeeird. Anyone know why?
  22. The Hobbit...

I loved the ending of Return of the King. I know a lot of people didn't, but I did. So there.
  23. Far Cry 3

Bah. Stupid typo! I meant FC3! It's not appearing on Steam when I search for it. (Not that I can afford it, but still... weird!)
  24. The Hobbit...

Ouch. I actually feel sorry for BRKL.
