  1. Shantae HD Kickstarter!

I know nothing about this game except that I've seen it's sprites numerous times and always liked the way that girl is animated.
  2. Looking for new laptop for Unity3D, Blender

Dell Outlet is often used where I work because you can get top-class stuff for really cheap. Because they build their laptops in such a modular way, even a refurbished one is virtually new — and they also sell some that are literally new with some superficial damage. It almost seems like madness to buy new after seeing the difference.
  3. Let's Draw Video Games

    Hahahahahahaha.
  4. Feminism

This argument has gone long enough without a Hitler comparison. Would you go to a gaming convention ran by Hitler, that is absolutely splendid apart from the fact that, you know... it's ran by Hitler? In all seriousness, supporting shitty things because they do some good things is not something I can get behind. If PAX crumbles, another will rise. There are plenty of other gaming conventions and events where you can have a great time. Ones not ran by and home to some serious assholes.
  5. Psychonauts

Everything is action-packed at Double Fine.

It'd seem OTT to me to accompany her all the way home in such circumstances, especially if it's not someone you know particularly well (i.e. first few dates). It is expected that adults be capable of looking after themselves, and at that point she's not your woman. Getting overly protective at such a point might even come across as a bit lame. With that said, avoiding this situation from occurring in the first place would be a sensible idea. You could date women closer to your home, you could pick a date spot closer to her home (which is less weird than going all the way to her home and then back to yours), or just pay for her to get a taxi to her door. Some women might not even want you to know where they live so insisting is not the way to go.

The whole dickwolves thing somehow passed me by, now I've read up on it I think that any lingering respect I could possibly have had for that place is out the window. The fact they do a fair bit of charity doesn't make a difference. http://geekfeminism.wikia.com/wiki/Dickwolves
  8. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

... look how slim Schafer is!!!!! Having not been watching any of the videos that was a surprise.
  9. Psychonauts

Stick 'em behind a glass cabinet and nobody will notice the slight blotchiness up close.
  10. Psychonauts

I think they mean series two of DFAF. Hence, Cave Story was series one. Edit: http://shop.doublefine.com/collections/game-the-cave/products/the-cave-toys
  11. I Had A Random Thought...

    Also, porn in your pocket.
  12. Photos of things

At a Caribbean parade that went through town recently:
  13. I Had A Random Thought...

I read little of that before it started to blur into a mess I couldn't be bothered to read — I really can't cope with reddit. All I managed to glean from my attempt was that those dudes really like Butcher Bay.
  14. Let's Draw Video Games

Well, here's what your comments led me to today...
  15. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

    Quite liking this gentleman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1ekkbRRAoY
  16. I Had A Random Thought...

I think making and receiving phone calls is actually one of the least-used features on smart phones. Mine might as well be a 'waste time on Idle Bums anywhere' device. Very useful for toilet breaks.
  17. Nintendo 3DS

I wonder what it actually feels like. Its Fisher Price aesthetic certainly hints that it's built like a tank, making it a great choice for kids over the other relatively thin and snappable DS models. It definitely seems aimed at kids by FAR over any other possible angle. Cheap, sturdy to the point of looking shit, and extremely simple to interact with — even a baby could handle it.
  18. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

That relatively recent Android Sony phone that had the slide-out gaming controls was a really slick effort. If handheld gaming moved more in that direction it'd be great. Unfortunately the only company with the ability to do it well seems to be Sony as they're already very much entrenched in both the mobile phone and gaming worlds. I definitely agree that I hate touch-screen gaming unless it's something that just couldn't exist otherwise like Fruit Ninja. I'd kind of love to see what kind of phone Nintendo would put together.
  19. Let's Draw Video Games

Haha. The reality of that is I couldn't remember how exactly a HEV suit is meant to look.
  20. Let's Draw Video Games

I'm not a very good drawing man but I do cover my notebooks at work in varied silly video game-related doodles. Here is one that raised some bemused glances in a meeting full of development leads.
  21. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Man, look at this shit. I really do love Ganondorf's depiction in Wind Waker. Definitely my favourite rendition of him by far.
  22. Nintendo 3DS

The problem is that developers can never really go all-in with the 3D as long as people like me exist. That is, people who have one dominant eye and one weaker eye. There are an awful lot of us, and it renders the ability to perceive 3D from a scale of 'little' to 'not at all'. That's not to say that I don't have depth perception, because I do. But because my brain gives one eye priority, anything that tries to make depth out of a flat surface just doesn't work. On top of that, you've got people who simply don't like 3D. I don't know about you guys, but the vast majority of my social circle is indifferent about 3D films and games at best. So you've got a combination of people who can't perceive 3D properly (which can sometimes result in a horrible blurry mess of a picture depending on the technology), and people who just don't want it. It's easy to see why this niche isn't taking off and developers are loosely implementing it in the same way that they once did with things like PhysX. I'm holding out hope that the Oculus Rift will finally make it possible to both experience and enjoy 3D far more than is currently attainable, as it's a much more authentic 'you're actually there' simulation rather than the weirdly in-between and unnatural thing that is giving a single 2D screen elements of 3D.
  23. Nintendo 3DS

Well, that was stupid too. To this day I don't actually know how many distinct generations of the Game Boy there were.
