Yeah, that mask is ridicule-ous.

For me it was about the same as first game. I preferred Thief for movement and going after the potions and orbs. When Thief seemed too hard or impossible, I used Wizard. The Knight was only for fights and blocking projectiles.

There's a gaping Civilization-shaped hole in my video game experience. Finally after I started listening to Three Moves Ahead, I really want to try one or some of these. I do own Civ IV Complete Edition. Is it a good one to start with? Or should I go for Civ V? I'm guessing there's no point to play the earlier ones now?

Hmm. Yeah, somewhy I didn't think about it getting really messy. Definitely not good for the whole wall then, because a couch will be close to the wall. But maybe the other half of it... At work I find whiteboards to be one of the best things for sketching ideas, so it might be actually more functional in my computer/office/storage room where I imagine I'll be working on things that need that more than in the living room.

Chalkboard paint. Has any of you ever had a wall painted with it? A designer I know suggested it to me. One of my living room walls is going to be darkish/blackish anyway, according to a version my interior designers did (it would have some abstract art for the tapestry). I am starting to like the idea of having a whole 4 meter chalkboard wall in my living room, but am curious if anyone has lived with one and has any thoughts about it.

Ok, I guess I'll play IV then. I did the tutorial already. The installer created 3 shortcuts (normal, Beyond the Sword, Warlords). Are those like separate games basically or do the expansions add something to the main game?

Coming back to the Stereo vs. Mono discussion. The first episode of Three Moves Ahead seems to be stereo and my ears don't like that at all.

The first change Idle Thumbs should dictate to 3MA is that the iTunes feed should have a graphic!

Mine was probably a Russian knock-off of something. I didn't actually know what it was, but now you made me look it up and I think it was Atari 2600 knock-off, because it looked very similar to this:

I find myself agreeing partly with both Twig and BenX. I think the series was pretty solid throughout, except maybe half of the 2nd or 3rd season. But, that whole story could have been much shorter. Maybe the characters wouldn't have been quite as effective, but I think there was also a lot of repetition and filler in Lost. I only watch these big series as marathons usually (and I don't watch that many of them). I think I watched S1 and part of S2 as the torrents became available, and then did a marathon of S2-S6.

A mind that has seen the movie "Hannibal"? (it was just the worst dinner experience I could think of)

Three Moves Ahead joins Idle Thumbs

Hmm, somehow miscalculated before. I've listened to 7810121822 episodes now, but still have 154153151144141 to go. They've all been great so far! Wish I'd listened to it earlier. -
I'd play that. For some reason I thought this was going to be an iPad game, but I guess I'm wrong. Or is it both for PC and iPad?
-
I haven't played Jurassic Park and I kind of fear the QTEs and that it goes a bit too much into these physical details like replacing batteries in 3D, but I will surely buy it and hope it'll be great.

I'm not much of a coffee person, I only drink one in the morning, but I usually don't like it cold. Does cold-brewed coffee taste significantly better than cold hot-brewed coffee?

Three Moves Ahead joins Idle Thumbs

Man, this podcast is pure gold. I'm going to be listening to a lot of it. Only 154153 episodes to go. -
I listened to another Three Moves Ahead episode about board games (nr. 135), and this made me immediately purchase Ascension for iPad. Really well done digital version of the board/card game. I don't like Ascension much compared to Dominion, because it seems very similar every time, whereas Dominion is different almost every time. But even after having played one digital game I like the iPad version more than the real thing. Mostly because as someone who has never read the rules and all the cards himself, the real game is not so great with people who know the game really well (and the ones I play with do).

I hadn't listened to Three Moves Ahead before, but I just did and it's great! The Alpha Centauri one, as recommended by others too, was awesome even to someone like me who doesn't play a lot of strategy games and hasn't played any Civ games for longer than demo-length (I own Civ 4 though). The one with Martin Wallace was also really interesting. It was probably the first time I've consumed an interview with a board game designer, as I only got into board games recently, so it was great to hear some about how they think. -
I was trying to find a 3MA episode to listen to and found this: http://flashofsteel.com/index.php/2012/01/20/three-moves-ahead-episode-152-a-few-minutes-of-show-with-martin-wallace/ That game sounds amazing, now I really want to play A Few Acres of Snow. A combination of wargame / deck building / eurogame. Anyone here played it?

Yes, that.

Just finished my first journey! It was amazing. Probably my goty.cx * Sadly, I lost sight of the other player near the end . * oh yeah, that's a given anyway for now because it's the first game of this year I've played for any length
