  1. Essential PS3 exclusives

I bought Motorstorm Apocalypse (demo looked cool in 3D), Enslaved (decided to get PS3 version instead of PC) and Demon's Souls. I guess I'm set for a while. I did try the Fat Princess demo a while ago, it was not bad, maybe I'll get it at some point. ModNation Racers looked cool too, and I might even enjoy Beyond Two Souls based on the demo. Are the PS3 Way of the Samurai games any good? I remember enjoying the original on PS2.
  2. Essential PS3 exclusives

Been trying out some demos. The process is really annoying on the PS3 with installs being modal and taking several minutes. I hope the PS4 will do this better. WRC4 looks like it could be fun, but I'm shit at it and I haven't really played any Rally games since Colin McRae 2. Also it's on PC as well. I'll also try Motorstorm (Apocalypse) and Modnation Racers, and GT5, Wipeout HD. Unfinished Swan any good?
  3. Assassin's Creed: Buccaneer

WTF is that? Is it from the game?
  4. Excitetruck was good! Besides the first Zelda that came out for the Wii, and Wii Sports, that was probably the only Wii game I played for more than a couple of hours. I'm probably forgetting a couple of games here, though.
  5. Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

I'm thinking of buying this. PC or PS3? Price seems similar on both. [edit] Hm.. actually the Steam version comes with a DLC and is a few euros cheaper so I think I'll get that. And now that I decided that I'll probably wait for a sale
  6. Games giveaway

So, nobody wants BLOCKS THAT MATTER? It's great!
  7. Home automation / remote controls

Can the K400 control multiple devices? e.g. if I have the unifying receiver on both the PS3 and HTPC, can I switch between them?
  8. Home automation / remote controls

Yeah, should have gotten a HDMI switch with CEC support. Maybe I will later, but it also needs to have coax audio out so my options are probably limited. The K400 looks nice, although I have a mouse that works well on the couch it would be useful to have both things combined in one device meant for the living room.
  9. Building a home theater...

Yeah, that's what I have heard as well. I was told I would be good under 10 meters, and maybe under 20, but it could easily be more than 10m of cable to my bedroom. Got the projector mounted to the wall today. Thing is taking shape. Tomorrow I'll fine tune the image position and measure the screen for cutting. Also strangely I noticed that while the audio coming from the projector isn't any good by itself, it can actually enhance the sound in the room if it also plays in addition to the speakers (but I'm using the near-field speakers temporarily and they are not that well positioned so it might be only in this case). The projector is pretty much hanging above my head when I'm sitting on the couch.
  10. Spacebase!

Damn, I think I'm giving up building a large base until the next alpha. Currently it's just impossible to get anything built inside (but builders are so eager to build/demolish structures whenever there's an order for that). Even oxygen generators will not get built/demolished before everyone is panicking.
  11. Building a home theater...

I also tried sending audio to the bedroom. It played, but seemed to be lesser quality, although it was hard to tell as I only did a half-arsed test. I wonder if I can just plug the coaxial audio output into a 3-way splitter that is already installed... But I bet those splitters are meant for a specific type of signal? The existing cables were for TV antenna or something and says "3-way splitter, 5-1000 MHz"
  12. Video Game of Thrones

This could be great! And good choice of thread title!
  13. Building a home theater...

Nice! I am sticking with 96" for now, as that fits the hardboard nicely. But if I had a bigger wall I would go for 120" Just got the speakers I ordered and did a bunch of wiring. My plan of sending digital audio through an existing RG6 cable in the wall worked! So happy!
  14. I tried to buy this so many times, just couldn't find it. PS why change the topic in the middle of the thread? Just start a new thread for this...
  15. Spacebase!

Just had to give up on a rather big base with over 80 people. Everyone (except for some new recruits) had become Deeply Sad. I didn't notice this until equipment started malfunctioning. I also don't know what caused it, but there were some raider attacks where 5-10 people got killed so I suspect it might be that. Or something else caused by me finally exploring all the derelicts and docked ships, and trying to expand the area of the base. Can the fires in those bring down morale? They were burning constantly. In the beginning of the game there was this one guy who was deeply sad for a long time. He was also listed as his own enemy. But eventually he got over it and started enjoying life. Then something happened and everyone went sad In the heyday, I had 85 people I think, and a huge garden. I was just building a new huge pub named Killbot-something, at the site of death of some crew members. But for some reason nobody showed up there, and soon after that shit went down, oxygen problems occupied all of my time. http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/506948908213322165/49A3C20FAC28D292DB1F6AAE4EEA7C7253AFA6C4/
  16. Spacebase!

BTW, Which forum is the right place for giving feedback on the alphas? Steam or Double Fine?
  17. Ok, yeah, the controllers thing wasn't wholly negative and yes a lot of those gamepads were crap. Just weird how a whole class of devices seemed to disappear as a single model survived. And of course other kind of input devices are popping up and mice are great etc.
  18. Spacebase!

I think early access is a pretty sweet deal for those who are already fans of the studio or interested in a specific game from early on. For the studio it's probably good as an alternative to kick starter and the like to generate so me money earlier. In other situations it probably isn't that useful and maybe indeed Steam should educate buyers about that more. I'm pretty happy with häving access to spacebase alphas!
  19. Also, end of 3rd party controllers. PC gamers used to have various gamepads from different manufacturers, but somehow MS convinced everyone that the Xbox controller is the only one that works on PC. I even have to use an emulator to make the PS3 one work.
  20. Mobile has been disappointing for me personally. I think it's probably big with little kids, but for me all the app purchases started feeling really transient and after a year or two of owning an iPhone all the apps started to annoy me and I deleted most. There are still a few really good games, but I don't really see even an iPad as a real gaming platform for myself. But then I also ignore handheld consoles. The rise of indie and the variety of games and availability of older games (incl. remakes, fan hacks to make them work etc.) has been most awesome! And at the end of the generation we are also finally seeing a big variety of non-FPS first person games. Stream was awesome, but also Desura, GOG (I didn't use them much though because Steam has really become the preferred place where I have my games). I have even accidentally bought some games twice because they were not on Steam. Also this gen I completely stopped pirating games, mainly thanks to Steam. What's also interesting to me is that serious exploration of 3D and VR started at the end of this gen. Also this gen included the transition from 4:3 to 16:9 I think. This gen, but not the video game gen, also saw a rise of board games (for me, maybe trend started earlier). In the next I wonder if we'll also see some interesting video/board games, using VR, AR or whatnot. Oh, for some reason I mostly ignored strategy games, but only now started playing them again (Civ V)
  21. Games giveaway

I have Half-Life 1 if you want that as well.
  22. Spacebase!

Is there any way to get outer airlock doors repaired without destroying the old ones?
  23. Spacebase!

Ok, I've been playing some more. The current alpha is already much better than the first one! But one thing keeps bothering me when playing a longer game: all those derelicts and raiders docking keep ruining my base (visually and by adding more things to maintain)! I can't keep demolishing them at the pace they appear (I tried, it caused some havoc in my "real" base rooms. So instead of gradually redesigning parts or layout of my base, I keep messing with these structures I didn't want there. Maybe it is my fault, because at some point I started clicking yes in all the event dialogs without reading the text. I don't have any incentive to explore any of those ships any more because that will destroy any efficiency in base as it will add loads of stuff that the maintenance guys are going to have to take care of. I think sealing the entrances will avoid that, but it's still an annoyance. So at the moment I have a base surrounded by a bit of empty space and then all the docking ships and derelicts are docked to a big surrounding mess of empty unzoned rooms. http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197968570188/screenshot/504696746568352072
  24. Licenses That Demand A Game

Half-Minute Hero is very much like Groundhog Day. Also McPixel.
  25. Spacebase!

Food and gardening (don't know how new that is) make this a bit more interesting! I saw some queues develop in pubs though (that seemed to get resolved by save & quit) -- several people "eating a meal" but really waiting to be served, and nobody is serving. I added two bartenders, but they started drinking, with nobody serving the drinks. When I added a third bartender, things got moving and I never saw lots of useless waiting for food again.
